*slinks away as if nothing had happened* Well it's not that I don't like Hook Champ. It's that I don't like the feeling of panic that I get from the game when that ghost is chasing me. I still haven't gotten a hang on the controls yet (and I've been playing the lite version for a couple weeks now), I've been getting hung up by them a little bit. And then that ghost that chases you... I don't like that aspect. I don't like being rushed in games :\
Gets my adrenaline pumping, my heart beating. I love that freakin ghost. Controls are flawless once you get more items, like a smoother, longer, faster rope and a claw with a better grip
See thats where the upgrades come in. The Full is so much different than the lite. When I got the lite and played it, I thought it was shit. But I bought the full because I had a few stacks of dough laying around. Those upgrades make a huge difference. Once you constantly hook through all the levels and never walk, that ghost won't bother you ever. At least until the forbidden levels. Plus if you buy Hookbot (I did) it gets rid of the ghost all together.
Then you have poor taste in iPhone games. EDIT: Ok, after rereading your post; 30 mins? You obviously sucked [which, everyone who plays HC for the first time sucks] and you didn't even give the game a chance. In that sense, its your loss for not giving it some time.
I'll take those points into consideration. I did get some upgrades in the lite, but I still wasn't feeling it. What is this you say about a Hookbot? Can I buy that whenever? Another thing that worried me was the enemies. I really don't want to deal with enemies in the cave. I kind of just want to freely swing by my rope and explore
Hookbot is a DLC character that you can get for a buck, which makes you basically invincible. No more ghost, and I think lava is less of an issue. It also has built in jets, which acts like rocket boots. And there are no enemies except for in the Minigore dungeon, where you play as John Gore and have to shoot a ton of Furries while swinging through the level. It's fun, but frusterating.
Hm... That actually makes me want to give the full version a chance. I thought there were skeletons you needed to fight? I thought that was in the description for the shotgun, that it could be used to kill enemies of the cave or something... I have no idea where I got that if that isn't what it says, but I thought it said something along those lines. Is it just talking about the ghost?
If you're looking for accessibility right out the gate: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. It also runs much more smoothly than Skate It (in my opinion). I also think there's a lot more fun things to do. Skate It does have a sense of satisfaction when you get the controls down, and start pulling off combos of more than a few tricks. But there is a steep learning curve that comes with it. Once you get over that, though, I could imagine it would be pretty damn awesome (I personally haven't gotten past that curve yet). I might be biased here, but I say pick up Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. I find it's much more accessible, the controls are much better, it's much easier to pick up and play, and I have been enjoying it more, myself. Still no custom soundtracks, but that's a different rant for a different dev
I havn't bought Hook Bot yet, since I'm having enough fun playing as Jake. I guess if you really hate that ghost that much, get it, but it won't be an issue. It's only if you really screw up that it'll actually pose a threat. Otherwise, it's just kinda there. Even in the earlier levels, when you're walking frequently, it's not an issue.
