Crimson Gem Saga or Eternal Legacy might come closest on iOS. Both have turned bases system with attack order projected by character portraits. CGS shares an emphasis in magic attacks but is in 2D and a somewhat lackluster port. iOS Final Fantasy ports do not have this system. Can you elaborate on what you're looking for in a combat system? I remember 3rd Age, it was one of the last PS2 RPGs I beat. It's unique omnipresent first person point of view in battle system has no iOS equilivilant. Also I recall that combat depended heavily on special abilities and buffs but I can't think of any iOS turn based RPGs with that emphasis on accessible magic/abilities except Crimson Gem Saga (I remember having Gandolf of a hero NPC in your party was crazy because they were so powerful; there are no iOS RPGs with that emphasis in NPCs or power heroes). The super attack power bar in 3rd Age is also without iOS peer. Here's a reference list of iOS RPGs
Wind up Knight. That game is fanfreakingtastic!! I actually can't... One if the disadvantages of not being an RPG buff unlike yourself. All I know is I loved that system, and I haven't found one like it since. Not that I've been looking, mind you, just that I haven't seen one. What I liked is that I can take as long in a turn as I want. I liked the turn indicator on the right. The synergy of moves was great - I remember the elf (a permanent fixture in my party) buffing everyone with death-prevention auras, all members applying buffs, etc. Actually I like that in conjunction with the turn order indicator - that was probably my favorite thing about it. Nothing beats killing the one enemy that would beat you a turn before he comes up. Hopefully that narrows it down a bit.
It sounds like Crimson Gem Saga is the game for you; but it does have some issues so you might want to read reviews and it's not cheap so you might appshopper it for a sale.
man, fellow, mate, buddy, etc...the game is awesome...I took it for a buck yesterday and playing it togheter with CheeseMan...take also this one !
Bump. I really need your help on deciding... Narrowed it down to 4 btw. I can get Greed Corp+Wind-Up Knight or Sonic CD + two 0.79 euro games(or one 1.59 euro game) or Tongue Tied and two 0.79 euros games(or 1 1.59 game). Not sure what to do, but for sure I want one of those: Sonic, Greed or Tongue Tied.
I know that was a joke, but the actual end might be closer than you think, heh. ---------- In any case, be sure to check out all the sales going on today: http://forums.toucharcade.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27. Just got CrimsonHeart and Giana Sisters for $0.99 each. ---------- GTA III about to be the number one paid app. Sonic CD about to break into the top 10. Good stuff.
Echoseven vs foxmulderino Whom should I trust? I think I need a third opinion Wind-up Knight or Wind-up Robots?
Thanks so much, mate. I'll check it out for sure! Price isn't an issue, as I think I paid 3 times as much as any Square game on the App Store for The Third Age. Wind up Knight, Greed Corp and Tongue tied are pretty safe bets. (although I haven't played Tongue Tied yet, I have no doubt it will be good) If there's only room in your heart for one wound-up game, get Wind up Knight. Unless you want a TD.
Apple's N&N is out. Of course, GTA III is GOTW. It's already number on the paid games charts. Looks like Sleepy Jack got a lot of love as well. Getting that now.
Hey guys, let me know how Sleepy Jack turns out! I wasn't too sure if it would be good or not, so I'm passing for now. Plus, I already have too many games to deal with for this week.
Sleepy Jack is awesome! Spot on controls, amazing graphics, freaky levels like Cordy. Pretty much a must. That and Wind-Up Knight. Wow. Amazing apps I just bought.
Just bought Wind Up Knight over Wind Up Robots. Still not sure of Sleepy Jack. I'll see where I'm at after I buy Legion of the Damned!
You made the right choice. I bought Wind Up Knight too and have no regrets. Leave Wind Up Robots to children, women and old men
Has anyone bought Greed Corp? If so, how do you like it? Thanks in advance. If not, then I'd be willing to TOFTT.
So far I'm happy with my decision! Decided not to get Legion of the Damned. I'm looking out for my wallet and my time. There's going to be a big release week next week, so I'm done buying games for this one unless something really sparks my attention. At least now I can really focus on the games I have now and leave some impressions and then prep up for reviews. Happy gaming everybody!
