I'm such a fool. Amazing Breaker was free in the summer if I remember right, and I didn't get it. Now it's tearing off the charts with 5-star rating :p

Will get crimson even though I have never even heard of steambirds, the art style looks amazing.

I liked welder for what it was, but it certainly isn't something special when it comes to word games. I plan to keep it for a while as my only word game (besides the ever-present scrabble), mainly because it saves your game and you pick up right where you left (games take a while for me, and for some reason i like the fact that I can have the same game span five or six time periods). But unless you truly are looking for a word game I'd pass.

    Couldn't agree more.

Buy it. It's my favorite "fling things to destroy other things game". Plus I doubt it's going free for a while now. I bought at release and am glad to see the devs getting some traction (the ice art and physics is spot on) since it is really late to see chart jumps like this.

I like the new "Stylish Games" featured list. I have almost every game on the list except Spoing, UFO on Tape, A.I.R. Defense, and Trundle Unlimited. All the other games in there I've enjoyed, should I get any of the ones I'm missing.

Also, Extraction is awesome, my GOTW for sure.

I'd pass on spoing, it got boring after a few levels.

Yeah, the new Stylish Games section is a nice touch. :D

I think Katana Jack should be put into that category ASAP! I've been playing it at times just to look at it, lol. I, also, like that after you beat each stage there is a video of the art progression.

So far, my GOTW nominees are Bullet Time, Katana Jack, and Raccoon Rising.

Extraction is a great game and would've been a nomination, but when comparing it to Bullet Time, Bullet Time wins in every category! - "Bullet Time does offer achievements, co-op multiplayer, integrated community (which I love), better controls, and better graphics (this is my personal opinion)."

I feel like Chillingo and ShortRound could have offered so much more, and Bullet time picked up the slack! Just my opinion. :)

    [[EDIT]]
I've been looking at reviews and, I think a lot of games get a bad rep because people are misinformed. Bullet Time's rating is definitely going down due to people saying it's crashing. Honestly, developers should make a side note telling people to clear all of their RAM and restart their device before playing their game. If you want those HD graphics you need to do that, and if you don't feel like restarting your device and clearing your RAM, then settle for second rate visuals.

I will say it again 256mb of RAM isn't that much, especially when game are trying to take full advantage of the retina display. Even on the iPhone 4/4s, the more graphically intense the game, you might have to clear RAM and restart your device.

This isn't a rant, but I just want to inform people so that they don't pass up, or write off, really good games.

Also, this isn't a shot a bactothis, but I really think the crashing statement might have turned people away from a great game. It was slightly unfounded; that's all!

Also, to reiterate on the freemium model, as b2t edited, it doesn't require IAP purchases to play the game successfully. Plus, as much as I hate monetizing, I will throw a dollar or two at a really good free/freemium game to support it; but yeah, I would've rather paid a set price for everything.

Bullet Time is so much the better game than Extraction Project Outbreak.

Yeah, that's the point I've been trying to get across! It's on a whole 'nother level. I really think some opinions were a bit unfounded. AppStore ratings definitely show that. Some people have a ton of stuff running in the background and others did what I previously mentioned, especially if they're not on a iPhone 4 or higher.

I quote myself once again!

I was thinking about this too - maybe there's a promotion going on somewhere like the Starbucks one where codes are given out en masse?

My point exactly! I feel like in today's world information is key. The only reason not to disclose information is to get ahead, but that reason doesn't really apply in this case. Since, I've been on this site, I've been trying to be a helping hand. I haven't been able to post a ton lately due to other projects, but this was something I felt needed to talk about.

This is what I'm thinking. Their Facebook welcome page is definitely the right way to net likers, but I don't know how long it has been this way.

Yep, works great. Ascension is also another great TB game. So is Wizard Hex. All very well done, and all use gamecenter.

Yeah, this is what I've found so far - haven't needed the IAPs yet (at least not spending my own money). I bought the flamethrower as my first purchase, and at first, it didn't seem as good as the revolvers. But then I realized the mutants continue to burn! So just fry em a bit, then back off and while they're dying from the DOT, finish em off with the revolvers. Plus you get a bit of in-game cash to start, and with that I bought a bunch of health potions and a mask, which have helped a lot.

So someone was saying this is better than Extraction. I was planning on getting that too - why isn't it as good? I realize it's not the same type of game, but gameplay looks like it could be fun and graphics look awesome.

Can anyone give me some comments on a few games/suggestions of games? Basically I'm looking for games with ~3 (or more) hours of content per buck, along with being FUN. I'm looking at the following: Flick Soccer,Pix'n Love Rush (what's this game like at all?), Flick Champions, Fruit Ninja 2 (content amount?), Great Little War Game, Harry Potter Spells (how crappy is it?), WELDER, Age of Zombies Anniversary, Riptide GP, Racoon Rising, Junk Jack, and Spy Corp. Any impressions or suggestions are welcome. Thanks! (just an fyi though the 3hrs and FUN gauge are just the way I use to gauge most games)

    I would personally recommend two:

    1. Junk Jack- This game is so much fun! I have had so many hours of fun playing this! You can build practically anything, and it is a great combo of Terraria and Minecraft. Even Notch approves! :) Also, there are mobs, and tons of other surprises thrown into this awesome game. Also, the Devs are very active both on the Appstore and on Toucharcade, so expect some great updates and customer service. Overall, if you had to get one game from that list, get this one. You will not regret it! :) I rate this 5/5 stars!

    2. I hear that the Great Little War game is a lot of fun as well, but I have never gotten too involved with it. If you are looking for a more puzzle-like game, this is the game for you. (I really don't know too much about it, but I know it is a good game) (Sorry :( ) I would rate it 4.5/5 stars. (I would seriously get Junk Jack though... just saying... :p )

Great Little War Game and Junk Jack are EASY standouts - both have huge amount of content, and with Junk Jack I personally got WAY more than 3 hours per buck, and still going strong. Although I must add a disclaimer - that is a game where you make your own fun and motivate yourself, if that's not your cup of tea you'll find it about as much fun as an empty cardboard box.
GLWG is great for strategy fans, lots of content, well-made, etc.
    Both fantastic picks.

Others I'm not sure I can speak about...

Apart from what's been said already - Extraction has mainly the same gameplay from mission to mission. Now, what's there is pretty good, and shouldn't bother you if you like what that sameness is, but wait it out if you're after more.

I don't actually gauge my gameplay time at all. I base games on technicalities and the fun factor.

First off, I would suggest getting Bullet Time if you haven't already. It's free so i'm not going to go into detail. Plus I've mentioned it previously in this thread.

Flick Soccer, Fruit Ninja, Flick Champions, and other games like these, I measure purely on fun value and uniqueness because you could sit down for an hour with them and be done forever. It's all about the game enticing you to play more, getting higher scores, and earning achievements. I give the okay for all of them and they kept me playing for more than one day. I'd also suggest puzzlers such as Blueprint 3D and Crazy Panda; they are both fun and unique.

WELDER isn't worth the asking price, especially when you compare it to what else is offered on the AppStore. Look at Dicto, which is coming out soon!

Raccoon Rising is worth a dollar. I left impressions earlier on in the thread. it's a very nice looking game with very nice controls for a vertical platformer. Will it hit 3 hours, i don't know. i haven't made it that far into the game yet, but I doubt it.

Age of Zombies Anniversary is pretty much the same game as the first. look a backtothis' impression on it. I think you'll get your time's worth, but the controls aren't as good as, let's say Minigore.

I, also, think you should look at games for what they will offer in the future as far as update. Just a suggestion.

    [[EDIT]]
I finally picked my GOTW order.
    1st Place: Bullet Time HD
    2nd Place: Raccoon Rising
    3rd Place: Katana Jack

Raccoon Rising barely beat Katana Jack for 2nd place.

Again, it's not a crash problem, it's strictly a RAM vs intensity of graphics problem. I bet people will still experience crashing just a bit less frequently. People need to clear their RAM, SERIOUSLY!!! Plenty of developers send in crash fixes, but they don't necessarily stop crashing.

Here is an email I recieved from the developers of Ravenmark on the RAM issue.

"Now - regarding the graphics. The crux of the issue is that we simply cant get the images used in the iPhone 4 ver to play nice with the 4th gen iTouch. There just isnt enough ram (especially since we made use of alot of ram to preload music, sprites, backgrounds etc.). The background itself is 1 gigantic map (as opposed to what most developers do and use a tile based map. that normally reduces the memory footprint since its the exact same graphic, over and over again). Believe me when I say that we have been looking for a solution (and will continue to do so) .. our other option is to create an entire new set of graphics for that 1 model by resizing some of the files (thereby making a third set of images .. but that would drastically increase file size, I assume)."
