After seeing Apple's featured list, I'm thinking about Rocket Riot, Major Mayhem, and INC. For sure skipping out on Gangstar 3. But yeah, anyone want to give me a run-down on which one to get? Don't see any impressions whatsoever for MM yet, RR has gotten incredibly positive reception, and INC has mixed reviews and bugs. I'm pretty certain I'm going to end up getting RR at least, but does anyone have good things to say about Adult Swim's new game?

I got Robot Riot. INC looks okay. Platformers are getting more and more bland IMO.

Yeah, that's the thing. There's honestly a new one every week now just like there's a new Chillingo physics puzzler every week. Tell me about Rocket Riot. Anyways, MM really does look like the poor man's Epoch..they got the top two spots for Apple's feature though.

Did anybody else notice that this thread was moved from the General Game Discussion section to the iPhone and iPod Touch Games section? I don't really care, other than now it feels like it should be for only iPhone, and not iPad.

Anyway, I just got an iPad and thought of how great GTA would be on it. I heard that GTA 3 was coming, so I've got a question. I'm guessing that Chinatown Wars was made later, so it might be "better", but do you think I should just wait for GTA 3? Or, should I get Gangstar 3 instead of any GTA game?

Seeing as the iPhone and iPod Touch Games section gets like 1000+ views while the General Game Discussion and Questions section only gets about 100+ views.

Tons of sales for great games for 11/11/11. Scribblenauts, Shadowgun, and more down to a dollar. Amazing deals for anyone who doesn't have them.

I'll bet all the devs saw a SE game drop to 99c and figure that the apocalypse has begun, thus dropping ridiculously high-quality games to a buck... :p Just a theory.

I haven't played either of those (not a big fan of side-scrolling RPGs), but judging by the screenshots and videos, I'm not sure I have a lot to recommend. For side scrolling RPGs, there's Evertales that just got released this week, but from what I've read, it's not as deep as D+D. There's also Samurai Girl. It's not quite as linear as Evertales, and it has more RPG elements and a much larger world.

There are quite a few action RPGs in general though - Dungeon Hunter 1 and 2, Underworlds, Pocket RPG, Mage Gauntlet, Emissary of War, Solomon's Boneyard, Solomon's Keep, and the myriad of KRPGs/JRPGs like Inotia, Seed, Zenonia, SevenSwords, etc. Just do a search on appshopper.

I create awesome paper airplanes that I will sell
    Here
Looks like I'll be grabbing Scribblenauts, maybe Shadowgun (4th gen itouch, does it run well?), possibly World of Goo (is it that much of a classic??? and is it like feed me oil, which i didn't really like?). Also Great Little War Game's a buck, DynaStunts, maybe Peggle or Junk Jack or Blueprint 3d, as well as Rocket Riot. Looks like the release week itself was quality, but the sales combined with it make it (in my mind) one of the best weeks in a loong time.

To answer as many of your questions as I can: Shadowgun runs great on my iPod Touch 4G, WoG is an absolute classic (and Feed Me Oil is a joke), GLWG is the best TBS on the App Store, and Peggle is a very polished and addictive (I don't use this word lightly...) cross between brick-breaker and pinball.

I agree, this week was one of the best weeks of releases/price drops iOS has seen in a while. :)

Peggle by far. It's really a must for any iOS gamer just like PvZ.

Since I leave impressions every week for the games I buy on Wednesday nights, I might as well compile them here from now on as well as leaving them in the main threads. Here's the ones from this week. Hopefully it turns out to be helpful for someone out there.

    Asteroids Gunner

Dull and uninspiring. Besides spamming you with constant achievements, the game doesn't do much for DSS games on the AppStore. Five waves was enough for me. Among the myriad of good DSS available, this one definitely doesn't shine. Deleted.

    Evertales

The game is a very well-made action platformer with tons of life and humor. The characters are diverse, the world is extremely detailed, and the sound effects are great. Extremely appealing visuals and effective controls as well. The storyline is silly and has a fitting narration voice for the job. It's a great collaboration from CM and TGW and highly recommended for a dollar. Can't say I'll be having any problems with the iAPs either. The boss fights are good fun. Evertales gets the job done.

    Epoch

Going to have to agree with gunxsword for this one.

The first thing you notice are the cutting edge graphics. They're spectacular. That's expected though.

You get a nice tutorial to start you off. It covers just about everything. Getting through the first fight will allow you to get used to the controls. By level 2, you'll be amazing by freaking intuitive they are. It's all swiping and tapping if you're wondering, but wait, what was Infinity Blade again?

Although the leveling system is a little weak here, the amount of equipments you can purchase doesn't disappoint. There's five slots for equips (guns, grenades, rockets, and more), and there's plenty of each that you can buy at the store. You'll want to replay the game quite a few times.

The game spans 10 levels. A little over an hour sounds like a good estimate of how long one playthrough will take. sounds You unlock medium difficulty by beating it on easy, and so on. The story is told through transactions you pick up, which will be plenty of them. It's effective for getting the job done. It's really all about the action here.

I was actually hoping it'd be a continuous game like Infinity Blade, where it pauses before each fight, but the level selection screen works fine here too. Between levels you get to read through the transactions and go through the store/equip stuff.

The sound effects/music goes well with the game and are top notch.

Saying this game is repetitive is like saying Infinity Blade is repetitive. I say it's very well-made and is perfect as a cover-based shooter, perfect. There's actually no iAPs to purchase additional funds either.

If this game sells well, I'm really hoping multiplayer will be added. The gameplay here is dying for online multiplayer. Something like Infinity Blade's arena mode would work perfectly here.

High hopes and great impressions for Epoch from me. Worth the $5.99. I'd say so. Right on par with Infinity Blade's original price and definitely not too much to ask for. Recommended.

    Ravenmark

    Holy hell.

I'm not going to lie, I was actually going to wait until tomorrow before buying this game even before reading about the crashing issues. However, when I showed the iTunes page to my girlfriend, she thought I was telling her to get it, so she downloaded the game! Of course, I had to play it then xP.

It crashed three times while loading up the first level, but then I restarted my iPod, and it worked just fine. However, upon completing level one, it crashed. When I started the game up again, I was able to get through level 2, which was lengthy, just fine!

First off, you get an incredibly helpful tutorial to start you off. You play the game as you'd expect from any TBS. There's a counter triangle (square in this case), perks for certain units, and all of that. The graphics are extremely attractive. The controls are perfect. So far, the storyline/writing has been wonderful. But really, it's something you'd be able to get into even if you have never played a TBS in your life, unlike Wesnoth or FFT, which are completely overwhelming for beginners. There's intuitive mechanics like being able to see the order that units will take action after you've planned your moves, you can read up lore/special effects/etc while in game, you can combine regiments, etc.

Beyond that, there's more content coming in the near future. Right now there's 15 levels, and from the two levels I've played so far, I can say that's going to be sufficient for the time being.

The best TBS Bar none on the iOS? I'd agree with that. It's more of a SRPG. War of Eusrath and FFT are some close competitors for the best SRPG on the AppStore.

For $2.99, you're getting an amazing strategy game with an above par storyline. Highly recommended.

Oh, the in-game soundtrack? Holy f**king shit.

    Blueprint 3D

Just got through the first level pack. Have to say that it's an excellent puzzle game. Not only that, it's creative. It was extremely hard figuring out how to get through the levels at first (the third tutorial level took me forever), but it becomes quite accessible once you figure out how the game works out. If you get stuck, just use the words/numbers that label different parts of the object you're creating to point you in the right direction. For a dollar, this is highly recommended to anyone looking for a very fresh puzzle game.

    Chocohero

Com2uS' newest title. It's a fall-down survival game where you collect stars to purchase upgrades for future runs. There's no GameCenter, and while the art and characters are great, the game doesn't do much for the survival genre. Not recommended.

    Junk Jack

Brutal learning curve for people who haven't played any type of Minecraft games like myself. However, after looking through the beginner's guide, which can be found in the Junk Jack help thread, you should be able to get a good idea of how everything works. There's so much depth to be found here, and it's no doubt a title I'll be investing a great deal of hours into in the future.

    ----------

Will be adding impressions for Major Mayhem and Rocket Riot. About to purchase both. Bought 13 games this week including the three iPad games I got from the Gameloft sale. Holy shit.
