Hmmm that's good to know. I mean like I said, they don't look like bad games in the least bit, just not sure if they are worth the price of admission atm. I'll stick with Phoenix untill a decent sale comes along on one of the CAVE games. ^.^ Thanks guys!
If you're ever looking for more "per value" bullet-hells, Danmaku Unlimited ($1.99) and Super Crossfire ($0.99) are great as well. Not sure there's too many other good ones. For future use: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=65254&highlight=dodonpachi+espgaluda Extremely deep comparisons for EII vs. DR.
You know that you can try the espagaluda free version, right? The reason I mention this is because you mentioned being convinced, but if you try out the game for yourself, you can make a well informed/knowledgeable decision. I actually downloaded it and tried to give you some feedback and it's a pretty nice game, but I don't know if it's worth $8. The best bullet hell style game I've played is Dodonpachi Resurrection, but that's a $12 game. It also has a lite version if you want to try it out. Honestly you could end up paying a lot more for these games on another platform, but in the end the decision is yours. [[edit]] @backtothis My replies are usually long, and I also grammar check and reassess everything I write only to end up finding 5 people already answered a question. LOL!
Looks like I might go with Espgaluda II then. I was thinking that one more anyways, but yeah. Now I just gotta wait a few days to get them thanks to funds ^.^ Thanks for posting that too. Thanks man, but like I said, it's not the price that bothers, me necessarily. It's the fact that I don't want to pay that much for a game if there is another one that is much better. Kind of a "smart buy" issue lol. But all signs are pointing to them being totally worth it. Downloading the lites now and then I'll make the decision on which one I want. Thanks man!
Well after much deliberation, EII totally gets my money. DR is amazing too, and super intense, but everything about E2, the music, the art/character design, everything, is just phenomenal. I will eventually get DR I am sure, but man. EII is awesome. Pure awesomeness. Going to get it in the coming days. The lite is a total teaser ^.^ hahahaaha
Nice pick! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. I'm actually thinking I'm going to start using my twitter more due to how much I'm responding on these forums. If you want to follow it's @goofyjmaster Happy gaming!
I know you've already made your mind..but as backtothis mentioned, Danmaku Unlimited is pretty good too. I don't have ESPII or DDPR (but I have Deathsmiles) for reference. There's a lite version of Danmaku so you can try it out. Of the lite versions of ESPII, DDPR or Danmaku Unlimited..I like Danmaku way better. Most will say that the full version of the Cave games are way better than anything else out there. Personally, its hard for me to wrap my head around the scoring in Cave games.. lol.. O yeah..feel free to join the Bullet Hell group (link in my sig. or you can search for it)..you can ask people in there for their opinions! And feel free to join the friendly competitions! =D
Make sure you get a good idea of the differences between Arcade and Smartphone mode, if you're going to decide on just one of them. If you're just buying the complete package, never mind You will definitely want to get Dodonpachi someday. Espgaluda has a lot of beauty on the surface. When I bought both of them at once, I almost deleted Dodonpachi because of the overwhelming file size and because Espgaluda was smoother, looked cleaner, and seemed like pretty much the same thing. But when you delve deeper into Dodonpachi, you see that it shines brighter than Espgaluda in terms of scoring, difficulty (second loop), hidden features, and music (this is personal preference but I love the iPhone mode soundtrack and have it saved in my iTunes library). You do get used to the graphics too, and then you start to appreciate and love them. In order to fully appreciate DDP, you should check out some guides, such as the one Vally wrote on these forums. Also, I'm surprised that Deathsmiles has not been mentioned because it's pretty great. If you prefer completion over scoring, Deathsmiles's iPhone mode is perfect. It has limited continues and RPG elements such as gearing up your character with powerful equipment, which forces you to have to replay the games many times in order to beat it (and it doesn't feel tedious either). Unfortunately, its graphics are not as impressive as DDP or Espgaluda's, but it's still a great choice. Lastly, as tops2 said, Danmaku Unlimited offers quite a bit of bang for your buck. I personally think that 1/6 of Dodonpachi is worth more though, but I'm a huge CAVE fanatic
Well I've made up my mind, but things like this certainly help me out, as I have not actually bought the game yet (gotta wait till the paycheck drops in the bank =P). Trying the lite of Danmaku out right now! And I shall join teh group, thanks! ^.^ Yeah I got the differences between the modes, but I plan on buying the entire package anyways ^.^ aahahaha. I looked at Deathsmiles (since I was already looking at all the other CAVE games) and, I dunno. Just didn't look as appetizing as DR and especially EII. I will definitely invest in DR after I get EII, no doubt about it. Thanks for all your info guys! =D It really is much appreciated. I've always liked bullet hell shooters in my arcade days, and was always really good at them (with all things considered, most of them were extremely f*cking hard-near impossible LOL) I just have a knack for evading things and memorizing paths to death lol. I haven't much touched many of them that are really worthy on the iPhone though, so that's why I looked to you guys on these matter
Finally Mage Gauntlet is coming out tonight! I love RocketCat so I've been eagerly anticipating this one. Probably also be picking up Bike Baron tonight. Any other notables I should check out? Just talking about tonight's releases.
To add on to Booch's question, do you think Dodonpachi is $4 better than Esplugada? I want to get the most bang for my buck.
I don't have either of those Cave games (but I have M.Bug Panic and Deathsmiles)...but I think most bullet hell folks will say eventually you'll get both. So maybe you can get the cheaper one first, then when you feel ready (or there's a sale) get the other one. Lol...
Dodonpachi is worth the extra money if you are willing to commit time to honing your skill, learning the scoring system, and memorizing the bee locations. Espgaluda is great too, and more suited for casual gamers, although it has an extremely complicated Arcade mode scoring system. But if possible, you will definitely want to get both. Also, Espgaluda is only $2 cheaper for now because of the HD launch sale; they are supposed to be the same price.
Buying Mage Gauntlet, Bring Me Sandwiches, and FN: Puss in Boots tonight. Thinking about getting Robo5 and that new Bulkypix game as well. Probably gonna get Bike Baron as well even though it won't run on my device.
