I only really played Alien Space Retro & Infinity Field..and to me..what it comes down to is what you're looking for in a game. Alien Space Retro: The more "strategic" game between the two to me. Its more of a mix of space twin stick shooter with enemies that behave differently and asteroids (that you shoot to replenish shield & the "light" weapons energy). This game can get frantic, but you have can't just keep shooting or else you'll run out of energy. The game is more slow paced to me. It is a satisfying and fun game though. Infinity Field is pretty much like Geometry Wars. Its polished, has flashy graphics, and has 6 game modes. While the game is fun, its kinda of boring to me. 3 of the modes are pretty much the same to me (the shooting ones) and I can survive for a long time just barely moving and just "circle" shooting every direction. The other 3 modes are alright to me. I think the main thing is the game feels too easy and not very satisfying... =/ The graphics/effects, while looking nice..gets distracting if you don't keep focus where enemies are... I know its different strokes for different folks..but if you don't mind the simplier/cleaner graphics (to me anyways)..I actually like Pewpew/Pewpew 2 a lot better than those two. The action is fast and frantic, and the controls are precise. The game is harder and seems to require more skill than Infinity Field to me, but its a lot more fun and satisfying to me. There's multiple game modes a well. Don't know if you have or tried these already. Pewpew is free by the way so you can give it a try.
Dead Space sorta is... As far as the rest goes, I don't think so. At least not until Forgotten Memories is out.
This style is also my favorite on iOS... I played most of the games you mentioned. You might want to check out: Land-a-Panda, Penguin Patrol, Tiny Invaders, Where's My Water? (it's extremely worthy to get), Watee, To-Fu and To-Fu 2 (they have a lot of levels), Contre Jour, Coin Drop!, Monster Island (it's like Fragger), Qvoid (a little hard, needs thinking). These are the ones i found on my iPhone's pages that you don't have yet Have fun if you get any of them ^^
I played it on the PC...even while i didn't finish it... So i didn't plan to check out the iOS version as i guess it's not much different, other than the graphics..
I need a good game with an amazing story. Already played SB:S&S, and of course Phoenix Wright. And Another World. And Monkey Island. Just trying to get a game with a really long, lovely story that sucks you in for a really long time. One that makes you wanna die if the character dies, or throw your iPod at the wall if you lose, and are all excited about your opponents next move. Probably in the mystery game category. One with lots of random twists, or great character development. The game might not meet up to Phoebix Wright or SB:S&S standards, but I want something that will take me MORE THAN hours to beat. Hopefully days (of straight gameplay time). I haven't taken a good look at this website for a couple months, so there better be a good game out. Oh yeah. 2gen compatible
Thanks a ton. Just downloaded a bunch of free DSS games. Including Pew-pew. Let's see how long they keep me occupied. Alien Space Retro has a lot of IAPs, and that too game modes and weapon packs which I would like to have. This tends to put me off...
In Alien Space Retro the Weapon Pack unlocks ALL the weapons. So really there's only the W.P. and the Lost in Space game mode, that's it, 2 IAPs. The new game mode isnt active yet, but that will make a total of 3 IAPs when it's available. It seems like more IAPs because you can buy individual weapons if you dont want to get the pack, but that's really only a good idea if you just want one weapon. The pack is the way to go.
I've also played most of the games you have listed. Some newer ones that I have gotten into are: Contre Jour Collision Effect Roll in the Hole Rogue Sky (I wouldn't consider it an official puzzler) As you can see. I really like Chillingo games!
