Royal Bounty for iPhone was just released... it is a clone of Heroes of Might and Magic. I will let you know what my impressions are once it is downloaded but I can tell from the iPad community, who have been playing Palm Heroes 2 for some time now, that the engine seems solid. I can't wait. I loved HMM games. EDIT: Here is the link to the TA forum http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=101374
Hero of Sparta was good when it first came out, but you should probably pass on it now. As for BIA2, GET IT!!! One of the top 5 Gameloft games of all time imo.
I got it, and I would say it's pretty much unplayable right now. The game engine itself is great, but the campaign needs some major tweaking. From the very beginning, you're hounded by a guard that follows you everywhere. If you take a wrong turn, he attacks, and you can't survive the battle. So exploration is completely suppressed, and since you can't see where you need to go because of fog of war, you have to do a lot of trial and error to find the right path that will keep the guard off you. I told the dev about this issue in the main thread, and he says he's working on it. Once that's fixed, the game should be good.
I liked Hero of Sparta 1, but 2 was a different story. It was far less forgiving, so what would seem like relatively safe movements/actions would end up getting you killed (falling off a ledge, etc). And camera wasn't as good in some scenes, making movement more difficult to judge, and with the reduced forgiveness, that just made the game too frustrating. I quit playing it about 1/4 of the way in. I can't really remember BiA2 that well, but I think it was better than the first but not as good as Modern Combat.
I admit the first couple of tries were annoying but i defeated the guard quite easily once i got into the castle and recruited more peasants and archers. I think you should give it another go. My impressions so far are good. I am loving how much it feels like Heroes of Might and Magic. The clicking works well and they have adapted the navigation and UI well to the tiny screen. So far it is just what I wanted! A few things I don't like: It automatically changes your turn and doesn't give an indication of how far you can go in a given turn (making it hard to plan efficient moves). Also, during combat, I can't find a way to see how far an enemy can move or attack and that makes it near impossible to be as tactical as I would like. Overall, great game so far and for a buck, I definitely recommend it.
It's a free game made by a kid with cancer. You really can't be bothered to download it and delete it? And you're actually vocal about it, calling it a waste of your time? Based on that comment, I highly doubt you've "helped out a bunch of kids" in your time as you claim. That's just cold. This kid had one wish to make, and he wished to make this game. Now go download it so you don't go to hell.
Agreed on HoS2. I liked the first quite a bit but the 2nd just didn't live up to expectations. I deleted it pretty early on too, since I fortunately only spent $.99 on it.
Anyone know any games that are similar to CoM: Zombies and Minigore? I really like those kinds of games
Haven't played Minigore but if you're looking for dual stick shooters you could try deadlock online or guns bros. Both are free and both are fun.
Age of zombies (A Zombie Themed Dual Stick Shooter) is similar to Minigore. You should try the lite version. Also, Welcome to Touch Arcade
Just back from holiday and got 15 to spend. What are the best recently released games? Also, is kard kombat worth it?
No, what I was saying is that we shouldn't be telling people it's a great game if it isn't. There's a very good reason to download it, but being a good game might not be that reason, and people come into this forum because they want good games. Just be clear to them why you think it's a "must download" for the sake of clarity and to avoid confusion. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Doubt away son, don't harm me none! I love this self-righteousness you think you're entitled to just because you downloaded a free app. The Red Cross must love you.
Agree with the comments on Hero of Sparta 2. I played through the first over and over back in January 2009. It took over a year for the sequel to come out, and man did it disappoint. Anyways, crazy addicted to Deadlock, having fun with Dream Track Nation, and just bought Zombie Gunship and Xtreme Wheels since they have pretty positive impressions and there's no other games to buy this week.
Hehe, just played Brothers in Arms 2 multi. The spawn killing is terrible. I literally got 20 kills in a row, then got killed 20 times in a row. Never going to touch that again, but as long as campaign is decent I'll be happy. I kind of like the whole World War theme for multi though.
