I can't imagine this game being A5 only. It's not 3d, not retina, and mvc2 was never as fluidly animated as the new kof games so less sprites per animation. I'm still going to grab it day one anyways but wished capcom put in a little more effort than a quick port cash in. Better have online multiplayer!

Are people expecting animation quality like KOF-i or the usual slideshow Capcom usually delivers with their games?

Well you have to consider that the arcade and console version of the new kof is animated very fluidly so they had something to work with. Mvc2 was never that smooth so it will be a little more choppy in comparison, but I do hope they don't remove any frames of animation. As for sf, as you already know they had to make sprites out of a 3d model so naturally it would become much choppier.

this is great! i heard a rumor about this earlier in the week but thought it was bull ,but im totally glad it was true ,that being said even though im highly glad to see the great MVC2 hit ios i am also highly worried how the controls will be cause this isnt a simple tap&attack fighting game. This game was built around combo's & strategy ,most likely u will just have to tap the characters face when u wanna switch players ,but how will it be to do a double or thriple team special or even doing a regular combo that connects into a special attack or even doing akuma's raging demon.I definetly hope its not the simple childs play touch that the ps vita uses cause even a baby can keep touching the screen & easily win a match lol, but anyway im glad that mvc2 is coming to ios ,this make me hope the rumors of wwf smackdown2 port coming to mobile is also true

ps. i definetly hope theres multiplayer online

:p I played and loved volt for so long, but it eventually got stale. A different fighting game will freshen things up a bit.

Come, young mooken, join the dark side! :D

My favourite comment on MvC2, from David Sirlin:

"Some games end up balanced through sheer coincidence, such as the fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which is "accidentally a very good game." Somewhere in Japan, there is a very lucky stable of monkeys who managed to type up Hamlet, or perhaps a screenplay to The Seven Samurai. The game featured a huge assortment of varied moves and 56(!) characters inside the most chaotic fighting game engine ever created, and it somehow happened to all work out."

I'm also hoping against hope that this will be playable on A4 devices like my iTouch 4, but excited for this regardless! :)

i really believe that more ports would close the void & give mobile gaming that respect that its missing, think about this be truthfull we get about 1 really good game about once every 3-4months if were lucky & thats just not good enough to satisfy a hardcore gamer & its funny that every person i know and meet with a mobile device yeah they might have IB2 or MC3 or Angry Birds ,but i always see a psx or n64 emulater sitting nicely in the menu screen somewhere lol, put it like this there are tons of ps1 & n64 games i would gladly pay 10 or more $ for if ported to ios ,the graphics could even stay the same as long as the controls are decent

Thing is, if the ports are brought over half assed, then the iOS platform would be treated as a secondary platform after the "real" gaming systems. Not every port is as good as gta3 or sonic cd, etc. Capcom is not really taking us seriously. I'm sure the A5 devices can probably run sf4 in 3d (hopefully) but yet they continue to bring over ports that are rendered at 320x240.

But I know I'm singling out one company as there are lots others that do ports right. But when the big companies treat us seriously, even more well known companies will spark serious interest and not just test the waters with another puzzler spin off. Not to bash on crytek but I'm sure they could've done more instead of do a puzzle game on iOS for example. Whew, I'm going way off topic.

In any case, I would imagine they could handle supers as such, tap health bar to do super, hold health bar to use 3 char super, and tap either side portrait to tag out char? Something like that.

Sure hope the backgrounds aren't static like they are with SF4 Volt!

From the screenshots looks like background is in 3d. Hopefully it's at least still 3d and not a pre rendered 2d image if it were to not move.
