The payment system seemed fair too. I did get maxed out though pretty much and haven’t played in a while so there’s been some updates since but I think it’s just been balancing and new seasons but I plan on checking it out again. BUT this game‘s gameplay and presentstion are so off the charts! I‘m kind of blown away by how perfectly well everything fits together. Uprading cards alone feels so cool. I seriously love everything about this game. Personal Game of the Year contender, and easily and by far the best card battler on mobile, in my eyes. Rocco SE Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2020 267 258 63 Male Modern Mime Artist Austria https://silentrocco.net #5 Rocco SE, Oct 19, 2022 Ok, taking back my Game of the Year claim, due to the typical free-to-play annoyances slowly kicking in. Card upgrading came to a halt after half a day of playing due to the lack of credits needed for it. So, it‘s either endless grind or getting into the micro- or periodical payment stuff. I really wish someone would take some of the games brilliant mechanics and go fully premium (I know, one can dream). And yes, card upgrades are mainly a cosmetic thing, BUT you get new rewards like new cards or currency for doing so. So in the end, it isn‘t solely cosmetics. I was endlessly amazed at the beginning, still kind of am in awe about the mechanics and production, yet I see myself deleting it again rather soon. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #6 ste86uk, Oct 19, 2022 @Rocco SE my card upgrade rank is at 633 and I’ve never spent anything on the game, it is doable but does require a fair bit of play everyday to complete all of your missions as if you complete all of them each day you’ll be fine. I’m constantly at 5k credits which is the max, to me the downside of the cards is the variants as they all mostly cost gold to buy but you can earn free ones in the free pass and on the upgrade road but it is slowly with those ones. Feeling kinda forced to play everyday just for the sake of unlocking stuff. I‘d rather pay 30 bucks once and get this game out twice a week for a couple of years. That‘s why I prefer card roguelikes, I guess. I might simply be the wrong audience. But I seriously adore the actual gameplay. To me these games, and this one especially, since its core is so good, feel like diamonds covered by a thick layer of crap. And instead of admiring that diamond, you‘re mostly busy digging through that crap. pyrrhonic and ste86uk like this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #8 ste86uk, Oct 19, 2022 @Rocco SE That’s why I stopped playing after a while because I was feeling like I had to play for 1-2 hours a night and I wanted to play other things and I don’t like feeling tied to games either. I’m going to give it another try now it’s launched properly but I think I’ll end up feeling the same, if I don’t spend enough time on it I won’t progress much at all as the weekly rewards are vital as are the season pass missions. So then I end up feeling like well if I’m not going to play enough to get the rewards I need I won’t bother playing at all and then I’m free to enjoy other games with my time. However, the AI is so bad that its very difficult to lose a match. You know, a card has a bonus if it goes in the middle -- AI puts it on the side. Middle area has an area effect of destroying cards, so AI puts the most expensive card there. I think I've lost about 1 of 20 matches. Its just too easy to be fun. Maybe if there is a bigger player base there will be more humans? I dunno, it seems to match you so fast its like it doesn't look for humans. Very accessible, deep tactics, always progressing towards something and perfect for mobile. This is the only mobile game I’ve been playing since the last few days. And it’s the only mobile game that has lasted on my phone for this long in a fairly long time. Rocksaint Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2013 666 367 63 #14 Rocksaint, Oct 23, 2022 I bounce off CCG so hard. The overwhelming amount of cards thrown at you. The factions. The infinite combos of decks you can build. I could never get into those. But it’s like the devs of this game knew this. They knew how to make a card game, but still keep it accessible for all players. Cards unlock at a very gradual pace. Letting you appreciate and strategise each card into your deck. Love that. Undecember didn’t work for me. Great gameplay. But it has the same trope of F2P random loot where even rare enemies/bosses can drop useless loot. Plus the upgrade system is unnecessarily confusing. I managed to downgrade a rare gear to magic accidentally as I didn’t understand what those several upgrade mats exactly did. That was my breaking point sadly. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,716 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #15 squarezero, Oct 23, 2022 Last edited: Oct 23, 2022 Marvel Snap is definitely fun — just wish it had a single player campaign, too, but the two online matches I’ve had so far were definitely enjoyable.
