@Drummerboy You get covers for completing missions and also as log in bonuses now. Covers may give you new heroes or an upgrade to your current heroes. Events also award you heroes but they are bloody hard to do well in as you're constantly being knocked back by people with much better upgrades (and who spend money).
Hey, thank you so much for responding! Yeah, the events are funny. I keep getting notices that much stronger people are beating me up, so I then in turn go and beat up weaker players... seems kind of cruel, but yeah. So as far as raising the "Star" levels, is that just ISO-80, or can I do that some other way? Not a big deal, but I'm just trying to learn how to manage my funds... Thanks again for taking the time to respond to a "noob in need!" DBC
This new PVE event is awesome. Captain America (2*) and Classic Spiderman (3*) covers galore, from what I see. That's not even including the progression rewards, and the final placement reward.
Currently, you can only beat each mission once so its random which reward you get. You'll have more chances to win in the coming days. Also, at the end, there is a repeatable mission to grind up the ranks, at +4 red iso each. this will separate the dedicated at the top, especially since that mission is level 90 enemies that blast your team for 1500 damage.
Yeah, but with 11 days, I'd be very surprised if we don't get every reward, especially with the new quest RNG changes. I'm stuck at the last 2 quests, they are rated impossible for me (my best hero is level 22).
It kicks in when another character (not Storm) in your team is hit for a certain amount of damage. Was Storm stunned at the time? It wouldn't have triggered if she was stunned.
I've beaten all the ones that I possibly can. I only have the two events in the north left and all the enemies in there are level 50+ which I can't take down. but I did get some good Spider-Man covers in the process so every bit helps.
Is anyone else having trouble doing any of the featured events or pvp? I try to start the match and the loading icon pops up and then disappears and nothing happens.
i like how in the update notes the devs mention you will see a lot less 20 iso consolation prizes... I have redone the same level 20 times MINIMUM and still have not received my 4/4 reward (which just HAPPENS to be a hero point reward) if this is an improvement over what the rewards were like before, I am cringing
I'm not strong enough for the events, but the PvP works fine for me. That said, I'm a bit puzzled by the "You've been attacked/Revenge" dynamic. Player attacks me, earns 24+ Skill Points, the Revenge screen lists my reward as 6-10 Skill Points for defeating them? Huh? Also, 99% of the players I can choose to fight have stats WAAAY higher than mine, and the rewards are often as low as 6-8 Skill Points? Loving the single player portion, but the MP has me quite confused... DBC
The points depend on your rank (or maybe your total number of points), not the level of the characters. You'll get more points from fighting a higher ranked opponent.
Sorry, I thought it would be more obvious. The players in question are ranked waaay higher than I. Further, I talking about the same player. They attack me and get 20-40 points, I have the option of counter-attacking the same player for under 10 points. Just seems odd, considering they are attacking me (a far lower ranked player) and getting 3-4 times what I would get for striking back. DBC
I have been playing this regularly since the launch and i'm ready to give an impression. The game is undeniably fun and has me quiet hooked; there's enough single player content (more being added) to keep you occupied for some time and the pvp to me is just a bonus to earn some more in game currency. Choosing different heroes is fun and the play style might change substantially when you change which heroes to bring to battle. I haven't spent a single cent on the game and had some good fun. That said....there are some issues with the price model that are to be expected in this type of game but that nonetheless are annoying. The game provides enough rewards through the pvp and single campaign to level up some of the basic heroes and a couple of 2 star ones (although that requires some grinding) but to get more powerful heroes is more complicated; with the latest patch you can sometime get as a reward a hero coin that rewards you with a random 2+ star heroes but you don't have control of who you will get and with more heroes being added the chances of getting one of the heroes you need gets slimmer and slimmer... You could decide to invest some money into it to raise your chances but unless you are ready to spend A LOT you will not improve much; the amount of in game currency per money spent is way too low; when i like this kind of games i generally reward the developer by buying some in game currency (for what i would consider to be a fair amount if i had to buy the game at premium price) but in here i don't see the point of spending 0.89€ for 100 hero points or 4.49€ for 600 (every hero token 2+ costs 200 and it's not sure what you will get) if not more...(and the amount of crystals, the other game currency, that they give you per moeny is even more ridiculous). They should rise the amount of currency they give you to make me want to invest even a little bit in the game otherwise i prefer to play it for free and grind some more to achieve the same results; i really don't get why they can't see it...probably they prefere to have a few polayers spending 50€+ instead of many more spending 1 or 2€... One of my biggest problems on the pvp events (that gives out good rewards if you play some) is that the timers for the event always finish in the middle of the night (i live in central europe); because of that i know that my ranking always goes down in the last night so i can't really compete for an high spot unless i decide to stay up all night (with a job and family this is not possible). They should at least sometimes put an event based on europe time.... so...is it a fun game? YES is it pay to win? POTENTIALLY YES but to ensure you get more high level covers prepare to spend really a lot of money and time... can you still enjoy it without paying a cent? YES How would you rate it? 3.5/5 i'd say ; with some tweaks to the F2P formula it could get a 4/5 rating
Cache covers Can you use covers in your cache to upgrade characters? How? How do you combine covers? I'm really asking about the interface. I see no where in anywhere about "combining covers". Also, if I have 6 slots for covers, does that mean I can really only have 6 playable characters? And even then, really I need to have a cover slot free so I can use it to get covers to upgrade characters? THis interface hell is preventing me from playing further. If I can't figure it out, I'm out.
I'm probably not the best choice to answer this (n00bish player here), but I do understand the system a bit, sooo... Yes, the cached covers can be moved to your "active" slots to upgrade characters. In fact, they need to be moved, else you will lose them. Combining covers is a simple matter of choosing "upgrade character," picking the power you want to upgrade, and a screen will pop up telling you if that cover can be used. If not, choose a power the cover will upgrade, lather, rinse, repeat. Yes, 6 slots means 6 characters, although to answer your other question, 1 slot needs to be open for combining. You can obviously buy more slots, which it sounds like most if not all of us have done. Tbh, the mechanics in this game really tend to show the inherent weaknesses in FTP/IAP-modeled games. What could be a fun thing for a player to mess around with ends up fraught with anxiety over choosing the "best" course of action, based on limited funds and the desire to play the game more than managing your "virtual checkbook..." I LOVE the single player piece of this game, but even then, my characters are getting noticeably weaker as I progress, and the choices for upgrading/switching characters are beginning to get a bit overwhelming/anxiety-provoking... I end up choosing the "best" option based on what others in MP are currently beating the crap out of me with as opposed to what I think would be the "coolest" and most satisfying choice for me personally... I loved the MP piece at first, but the matching/attack/being attacked/reward dynamic is a total joke for all but the most powerful players. People like me essentially end up as "leveling-up fodder," with little chance of even holding our own, which is quite obviously not satisfying in the least... The core gameplay is enjoyable enough for me to keep this around for a bit, hoping for some balancing updates, but yeah, I can understand your frustration. DBC
I love PuzzleQuest in general, and have been really enjoying this version (so far the different powers seem fairly balanced, with a fair bit of variation). However, the fact that I need a spare slot in order to combine covers, and the fact that the hero-points price of slots constantly increases is a killer. I currently have 6 covers in my cache I could combine to improve my characters, but I now need 150 Hero Points just to unlock a slot to do so if all slots are full. Assuming I get enough Points before my covers expire, I'll be able to combine them all quickly, and can then begin the pot-luck of spending all the tokens I have earnt, but of course as soon as I hit a new character they will fill that spare slot and the cycle will repeat... Yes, I know I could sell an existing character to get a spare slot, but that seems like a step backwards to me. Or pay to get Hero points, which I guess is the intention. So this is the major paywall really for me (I don't mind if I'm mediocre in PvP).
You know, I hadn't even thought about the "slots vs. Hero Points" piece... That does stink, and I'm not really certain there is an answer, beyond ponying up the cashola. DBC
