I have played the game for the last month since soft launch. Only brought the $5 starter pack, and really enjoyed the game. There's a few game modes you can unlock as you progresses such as arena mode, and villain siege which does not require energy. You have daily missions which provide good amount of energy back so you can play at least a solid 2-3 hrs every day I find the gameplay to be very smooth and every character are unique so its fun to acquire and test each of them out There's no 'hard' pay wall so far, and the game has been very generous with energy gifts and crystals, can't say what will happen after global launch though. I think many others who tried the game will share a similar experience as I have so far. I have played many F2P games and I feel this one is a solid game without constant IAP wall in your face
out of all the Marvel games I have played on IOS this is probably my most favorite and I will be playing for a long time to come
Villan Siege? What's the deal with Villain Siege? I've just unlocked it last night and played with my team, but after I have used them once, they gray out and it says "RESETS IN 20:34:20" or whatever time is left. Do you only get one chance per 24-hours to use one of your characters? I'm confused. Because if that's the case I'll be lucky to beat two guys a day.
Man, these free-2-play pitfalls in every fighting game are getting so worn out. Remember when we would buy a Marvel game at Gamestop, bring it home, and then play until we wanted to do something else instead?! I really want to try this game, but all these mechanics put in place to solely make a financial gain for the developer/publisher/Marvel make it hard to have fun. I played Contest of Champions this morning and did the same thing over and over. I hope Marvel decides to make a premium game again, like that Guardians of the Galaxy game or LEGO Marvel, but also make the actual Gameplay like this game or Avengers Alliance. I want to give them money, but not for a game that keeps imposing things like this. It's like playing a Gameloft game.
I have no idea what you're referring to. If you read my message and thought it was a complaint or a list of bad things, it isn't. I love the Villain Siege - it is actually my favorite part of the game. I've not spent a cent, I have 26/36 heroes in less than a month of play and enough premium currency to buy anything I want 20 times over. I'm just hoarding it juuuuust in case. This is an excellent free-to-play title, and I can't wait to give them some money on launch day (April 30). And you may recall that the beloved $60 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and all-time favorite of mine, had pre-order exclusive characters, $10 DLC packs for extra characters and so many console-exclusive characters that you would need to own 3 systems to play them all. They've always been doing this, all the way from arcade games (I spent $20 beating Captain America and the Avengers) to horse armor to today's free-to-play systems.
I wasn't necessarily trying to put words in your mouth. I was just commenting on this game with my opinion and voicing my frustration. I've owned/played quite a few Marvel titles that don't require more purchases or don't require you to wait for timers until being able to do something. There were quite a few titles on Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS that you could just buy and play until your heart's content. I was just voicing that I wished we could have that in a game like this. That's all. I'll go back to playing LEGO Marvel now.
Yup, same here. The energy is no problem at all for me considering i didn't need to spend a cent. And i even got around 150 energy stored since the weekend, plus 82 energy from a fully charged meter waiting for me to blast through. Maybe people should give it an honest try first. And don't get me started on that huge pile of gems (almost 2000) if i want to get even more enrgy. And in regards to the biometrics, that's how rng works. I'm playing One Piece Treasure Cruise currently as well and in both games it sometimes feels like the rng is very generous and sometimes just wants to troll you like there is no tomorrow. But once you get your drops, you're really happy. Anyway, maybe people should complain on the respective media channels of those games or write emails to the devs if they are so keen to voice their opinions on that matter, which seems to be a better choice to achieve change. I'm starting to miss the days when gamethreads were about gameplay and helping people out. But that's just my opinion.
No worries. Quote-reply made me think it was a reference to what I said. Either way, this game gets it right. RE: Lego Marvel - I'm 23% through in the save file I'm playing with my son, and we would both kill to just pay $5 to unlock Deadpool.
Tickets? Hello, I am still unsure what the purpose of a ticket is. I have 75 saved up and I'm not sure what I am supposed to do with them. I was under the impression that tickets are to be used to clear a level once you run out of your daily 3/3 tries on elite. But I had just attempted to use a ticket for the first time ever on an elite level I played 3 times today, then I got an alert "You've already spent all your entry tickets for today. Enter again tomorrow." I'm confused? What am I supposed to do with these tickets? How can I use them to my advantage to farm biometrics? Thanks.
You are limited to 3 playthroughs each day for each elite mission. Using a ticket will use up one of those playthroughs, and give you the rewards without having to actually use energy and without having to play it.
You use the tickets to clear levels you three starred before to save time instead of playing the level yourself. I'm not sure if your characters earn experience if you use tickets. It's more a matter of saving time i guess or not getting tired of playing a level hundreds of times over the course of time. And each use of a ticket thus substract from your three daily tries per Elite level AS WELL AS SUBSTRACTING FROM YOUR ENERGY.
Not Future Fight-related, but here's some help: to unlock Deadpool in LEGO Marvel, you'll need to complete all three challenges - complete the level in time, don't use super moves and take less than 5 hearts-worth of damage - in the Bifrost level (no need to complete them all at once, though). There, saved you $5!
Thanks for the response guys. So I'm coming to the conclusion that tickets are pretty worthless, if: 1) They still use up your 3/3 daily tries on elite and, 2) Still use energy. What's the point for using them then? To save 1-2 minutes running through a level? Any other uses?
Mainly to save time as you said. I only use them if I'm running a level with a fully levelled up team (since it doesn't grant XP) but want to get items from that level, or if I'm near the end of a gaming session and have energy to burn that will recharge before the next one. Also useful if you're about to gain a shield level (and thus an auto energy recharge) so you get the most out of it.
