If a player doesn't take a turn within 48 hours, they are set to defenceless and you can finish them off.
I will add this to my praise, though: MAB has some serious cloud sync issues. Among others, unless you force-quit the app every time you relaunch it, the login window will not be triggered, and new progress from another device will not sync. I reached Grandmaster on my iPad, and subsequently played on my iPhone a while later for an async turn (jumping straight into the app, which had been retained in memory), not noticing that I was only a mere, lowly Higher Master. Next time I launched the game on my iPad, my local progress was lost, replaced with the progress from my iPhone. Furthermore - perhaps in connection to above issue - async turns will not always reach both devices. I currently have a turn waiting for me on my iPhone, but my iPad shows that this same fight has not been updated for 15 hours. Also, the way special IAP deals for other fighting styles show up ON TOP of tutorial segments (create a deck, initiate an online fight, etc), obscuring the UI elements we need to tap is perhaps not entirely conductive to the new player experience And last, sometimes attacks will simply fail even when traced perfectly. Don’t let that intimidate you if you are considering the game, though, as I’m guessing this is just a bug with trace widths and the swipe interactions that will soon be resolved.
So I either missed the point (possibly in the tutorial?) about what bounties do and serve the purpose for, or there has been zero explanation and I'm lost on them altogether.... Why do I have the MA currency and the bounties always show something like "$.99 for 200 MA".... It makes me think that I can buy the bounty to keep the character....?.....any enlightenment would be much appreciated.
You pay a dollar for a quick in-game cash boost. Thats all. Most of the time, its an anemic deal. Even if I was inclined to spend real money on in-game consumables, at Grandmaster and 6th Dan Black Belt the bounties would have to be ten times the current amounts to even make me consider the purchase.
I have upgraded my stasr review accordingly and still playing. Very entertaining. Kinda fun to watch the whole fight it's blocked and hard hit. Good job!
Oh ok. Yeah, that is utterly useless to me. Thank you for that info. I am having some fun with this. Pro tip for everyone: don't drink when you play this game. Swipe gestures are tight enough as it is Lol
So I'm not a massive fan of f2p games but this has really grabbed me - loving the mix of card and skill based battling. My only question is - is the IAP combo bundles worth the money and how much does the game rely on pay walls and timers as you progress after purchasing one? I know some CCG's require a fair bit of financial outlay to get the most from it, but I'm not a rich man and I much prefer premium game investments so don't want to buy in to something that will require continued investment over a prolonged period.
I literally just came to the forum to post about the paywall. So I saved up enough coins to buy 2 card packs after unlocking the 2nd fighting style at 5th Dan.....well, the card packs are still ONLY giving me kung fu cards....so this is either a miss, bug, or intentional by the dev. As far as I can tell, the only way to get card packs from other fighting styles is to buy the combo deal. Anyone else see a way around this?
Thanks for the info. So do the other fighting styles unlock for free through progression ie earning enough experience? If so, I'll probably give the combo packs a miss. I would have happily paid £10 for this as an outright purchase with no fear of paywalls or timers.
Well I figured out how the system works. I thought each style had it's own attacks (cards) and defenses but they're all the same. So the cards work for any unlocked discipline. When you go to create a deck, you choose the style (Kung Fu is well balanced whereas Taekwondo has better foot techniques and bones but slower and less effective punches) and any cards you already have will work. So the styles (as hyphenated above) have their own pros and cons and that's how those work. They unlock as you level up. Right now I'm 10th Dan so I just opened Taekwondo. No money needed after all, unless you want more cards. I'm not at a point where I've hit a roadblock. If anything this game needs a full-blown quest mode. There's 2 quests you can keep running to grind for xp and keep leveling, but the multiplayer is sad. This turn-based crap needs to be tuned down to auto 24 hour drop. 2 days is too long to wait...plus it's just more of what you're already doing in wuest mode. It doesn't help when I'm 10th Dan but still have 2 unfinished matches when I was at "Practice" level Lol
Ahh, I see. Thanks for clarifying. I completely agree about the quest mode - a more fleshed out single player campaign would be awesome. And I'd happily pay for it as an IAP.....hint, hint devs! ##
No timers once you complete a mission set; after that you can replay them as often as you would like. I haven't spent a cent, and I've unlocked all of the martial art techniques (they all use the same cards it seems-but the technique you use alters the power/speed and maybe the cost). I could pay money for better cards I suppose...
Cards are shared. Though they can be used as in as many different decks as you like. That confused me as well at first-until I set up an deck using auto and bam! Full deck for all martial arts. Like I said-they are different though. Wing Chun has a massive speed boost but is pretty weak (tho you can get off a lot of attacks per round), Etc
I just noticed/realized this yesterday, but when at the main screen, if there's a number next to your cards, go in and see if you have collected emough of a technique to upgrade it. Upgrades are free. I thought this card area was just to showcase your cards, but it does serve a very important purpose.
From 'wow' to 'deleted'. The game started off as incredible fun. The card system is unique and doesn't send you grinding to level your collection up or to find better ranked cards like other card based games. And the swipe gimmick is great. It manages to make you feel like you're actively participating in the fight instead of just playing cards. There's some dexterity involved to the fighting swipes which makes it more of a skill game than a game of chance like other card games. More on the plus side, everything can be unlocked just by playing through and there's no sign of a p2w wall. However, the game is terribly unpolished. There are only two bare quest lines that you'll breeze through in a few hours. Rewards for replaying missions are not that attractive. Mostly, there are hardly any attractive rewards at all to the game - so you'll be playing it only if you like the game mechanism. So far, still okay. But the game mechanism fails to hold interest when fights go on for days and days with no sign of getting over. Some players are claiming that there's a two-day-to-respond limit to fights after which the non-responsive player is offered up to be beaten down. This is not always true. I did get one player offered up defenceless after the two day mark. Then I got another player after three days of no response. Right now I have a four day old fight on my list that is still pending. This can get infuriating. However much you might like the game mechanism, it's pretty pointless if you can't win because the game won't let you finish the fight. On the other side, it's evident why players abandon fights (or maybe the game itself). It's not just that fight progress is usually mind numbingly slow and boring. It's also because there seems to be no way to give up a mismatched fight. Getting your nuts handed to you by someone several grades up? Nothing to do but take it. Then respond in some feeble way. Then wait for days for that person to respond with another beatdown. And repeat the process nigh endlessly. None of this is particularly fun. Since it's mostly PvP, maybe the game will get more fun when more people join in. But if they did, they would most likely delete it after a few days as well. Too bad, since there's something very smart and fun about how the game is played. I guess there's nothing to do but wait for a bigger publisher to rip off the game mechanics and reproduce it in some horrible p2w game with friendlier gameplay and louder graphics. Most likely with a screaming warrior guy or archer girl image on the game icon. Just too bad.
