It's true, the purple/blue, stary sky is sick. THANK YOU SO MUCH instabuy games. I usually hate buying apps, but when it comes out, the $ will fly. I just thought of something...Another sick game title would be Manapad, but I'm just messing around. Keep it up! Thank you for taking construction and improving. Very unlike most app producers: you listen and learn quick. I'm running out of compliments... Edit: Glass and Doors seem to be all I can think of. I can imagine people making a new york city out of that 'Magic' and lights Edit 2: Are there day and night cycles? In the normal world? both? Edit 3: I think rather than automatically have these 'assumptions' for old devices, I think people should choose the image quality, the rendering distance, for, ceiling, etc for more customization Edit 4: This is serious, though. Who here thinks the maze walls should be higher? I think they should... Edit 5: I'm not sure if the colour of the brown grown, and the grey blocks with green moss on it match. The grey blocks with green moss look amazing, but the brown plain ground seems to need a bit of color tweaking/graphics tweaking Edit 5 continued: Do these color mix well? Maybe it's just me but... Last Edit: Will there be canyons? I see sick mountains going on: Will there be canyons like the one there, or: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYp-SGqKiNg&feature=related maybe like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KyTlLls2ac&feature=related (4:55) This is pushing it, and it's more of a valley, but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4D4r7BbxlE In the natural or magical world, capitalizing on many types of mountains would be awesome. Canyons are cool because it is an unexpectedly HUGE natural envelop that has so much beauty and potencial
Man, this app is definitely a winner. Thank you for putting so much effort and creativity into this app. I cannot wait for its release. I see no way anyone can call this a minecraft ripoff. This app might even top Angry Birds. Suggestions/ Ideas 1) Rainbow colored blocks 2) As many colored blocks as possible. 3) Maybe make mazes bigger or closed in with unbreakable blocks for no easy way to cheat. 4) Maybe an option for swiping the screen to look as a second option to the dual joystick option. (I'm just used to it. Not a big deal.) 5) Maybe an option to turn creature attacks on or off. Dunno, seems new and interesting. 6) Definitely flying mobs. Flying shouldn't be a retreat. 7) And maybe somehow clear colored blocks? Don't know if that's possible, but it sounds cool.
ManaCraft... Hey Instabuy, The progress on this game looks amazing. Even though Notch has announced an official MineCraft for iOs, i'm still very excited about the possibility of what ManaCraft could be. You guys have said very little about the game, and previously, i assumed that it would simply be a minecraft clone with 'magic and flying'. Now that I've looked at what you've shown, I'm beginning to wonder if we're all looking at the game from the wrong perspective. Instead of constantly 'mining' to create shelters and fortresses, how interesting would it be if mining and crafting enhances your magic? As mobs attack, you can create minerals that help you fly or give magical powers to your objects around you? What if the world could be a weapon? What if you could stop mobs by creating 'shields' of walls and orbs? Is there exploration in your game? One of the most exciting things about MineCraft (and something that all of the clones has failed to recapture), is the feeling of wonder surrounding discovering dark new caves in a randomly generated world. I'll never forget the first time that I played Oblivion and I discovered some cave that totally led to this whole new open area where these giant ogres lived with the sole purpose of killing me. It was amazing! These 'open world sandbox games' get lots of press for the crazy creations that people make, but the true joy comes in the survival mode. These games take the very best of the 'discovery and survival' game mechanic, and distill it into something pure. I'm now beginning to wonder if ManaCraft will have so many hidden areas of new creatures and interesting ways to protect myself from them other than to simply 'hit' them. Redirecting lava, creating a water fortresses, cloud forts, or even, perhaps, animating Rock Golems to follow and protect me....all of these things seem to be possible in a magic-based Minecraft. ManaCraft could be amazing. Will you offer more details about the game experience that we can look forward to? What inventive ways will 'crafting' play into a world of magic? Looking forward to a unique ipad and iphone (universal?) experience!
Magical powers like meteorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmuTKlI4P_Q&NR=1 Would be cool instead of not-innovative tnt Let's give them magic ideas! : Freezing water would be cool, so people could empty out lakes... Edit: Back to the canyon idea, won't it be interesting if the player . or his 'magic' could set the hillyness of th environment from gently rolling, to 'grand canyon'? that would defeat the purpose of the random world generator, but the goal isn't about being like minecraft anyway.
Those are pretty cool landmasses! but what would be better is if the basses were more linear with smother tops. I didn't draw the diagram well. Here's a better one. *bottom what I envisioned (Closely mimicks the 1st video I posted) Edit: Apparently these structures should be with your network of mountains with the normal conical shape. Edit 2: One reason why I was so particular about canyons, is because they give the user the space between canyons to explore. That's what attracts people to them. Minecraft did NOT use a lot of these without people hacking, which was a disappointing. *Bottom one what I had in mind All in all, the canyons could have a shallow, plateau at the top, but with highly. highly steep bases. Sorry for the trouble, by the way. Edit 3: I will go on. Steep bases are interesting because of the thinking the user would have to user to climb. (Magic! or block break, n climb) It's different and more intelligent than ol' jump, jump, jump to climb the top. Mountain-side houses would also be supported with this style. I hope that all helps. Final Edit: Finally, you guys could get inspiration from nature itself. http://www.google.ca/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=923&tbs=isch:1&sa=1&q=canyon+pictures&aq=0&aqi=g2g-m8&aql=&oq=canyon+pic There are a variety of canyons, but the ones on the 1st row mimic this whole mindset. For the game, based on the ideas given, the type discussed would be a powerful prospect in the game in addition to the mountains you already have.
Lol, someone likes his canyons (valleys)... Anyways, I has BIG question, what is in the game/app so far? I mean I've seen mobs, light, different realms, super jumping, digging/destroying blocks, mazes, liquids, giant mushrooms, canyons, and world generation. But what else is there? Or would you guys rather keep that a secret, IDK, just curious... XD Also, is it ok if I advertise this in the Minecraft Forums? You guys should start building up hype, especially with the competition heating up!
I think this will be good if it has mining. I think lots of people will play this if it has multiplayer. I think I should grief in multiplayer
Frankly, i dont believe that this needs multiplayer. Not only is it going to be epic either way, but I think that if they focus on making a strong SP, it'll be much better over all than if they attempt to cram in a multiplayer. I would probably only play SP anyways.
The swarm cometh... Go support manacraft! http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=204794&p=2957519#p2957519
Hold your horses buddy. I'm managing that thread, plus I'm linking it back to here in case someone truly wants to get in contact with the devs. it's pretty much a win in every situation. Hype/popularity builds up for the game, more ides may come up (this is subjective though), and even TA gets more visits. Don't worry it's under control.
I'm all for more threads so I don't mind what Shooks is doing. But I will only be maintaining this one.
Hey I don't mean to be pushy here but when can we expect this? Cuz I know alot of us just can't wait.
It'll be here when it's here. When something's still in the middle of development, devs don't want to promise anything. People WILL rage if something is delayed, and I repeat, WILL rage.
Exactly, give them time to breathe. I'm pretty sure they're super busy with this project and I'd prefer a better app than a rushed one. I am excited for it though, but I'm also patient.
