Here's how I think a town would work in a survival sandbox game.... You build it yourself and NPCs move in. You are responsible for defending it and fortifying it. You are responsible for deciding who moves in. You decide what you want to do to allow the moving in of NPCs. This would work very well, I think. Craftable towns are of course an extension of my favorite feature of Terraria, the craftable home base and moving in NPCs. After you get your town built, you could do quests for those NPCs to gain more XP faster and get items and crafting recipes (which of course would be completely unnecessary to build the item if you already knew how OOC)
I don't want leveling !!!!!!!!!!!! ................ Well maybe? I think your giving out some good ideas bit I just really don't want a game were you have to level up to proceed because it gets boring after a while . And what would be the point of leveling up anyway ,would there be stronger mobs that you had to level up to defeat ? And I think if there was a leveling system there would have to be a campaign aswell because other wise it would get really boring really fast and I don't think anyone would want the game to turn out like that . Anyway this is just my opinion Any thoughts on this?
Ok. So the big question is how dungeons will work and will it be an rpg. The game will have elements of an rpg but I am not making this a grind (I hate grinding for levels too). First of all I want to make it clear again that going into the dungeons is optional and that almost everything can be made without questing. I do want to make mobs harder the deeper you go in the dungeon or cave. There has to be a leveling system of some sort for this to work. Either resource based or xp based. By resource based I mean you would need to craft better and better quality items in order to survive the depths. If I go the xp route it will not be hours of killing things to get a level. I want to make a fun game, not a chore.
It sounds like the resource based idea is a better route to take in my opinion. I also like your idea of mobs become harder the deeper you go in dungeons and caves. Anyway, everything sounds great so far. Best of luck!
So I said I'd improve the lighting so that blocks don't blend together. Before After Comments? And don't worry there should be a video soon.
after you guys have completed manacraft would you guys do tutorials on how to build a game like this. the game looks epic at the moment and would there be a beta release anytime soon
Awsome!!!!! WOW THAT LOOKS WAY BETTER in fact I believe it is amazing I can't tell why it is about it that makes me think this but I think it looks like a much better game now and the dungeon looks a lot more mysterious and dungeon-like
