I know, but i'm tired of that kind of questions. If there's a release date, the devs will announce it. And if he looked further then the last page of this thread, he would already know that.
Guys/Gals, let's not try to argue, 'Kay? You were all wrong. He should have looked at the front page, you should have responded nicer, and nobody should have gotten so defensive. There, doesnt that make y'all feel better? Let's try to keep things on topic and constructive.
Yeah i know... And I apologize. It's just that i'm tired of reading the same question(s) over and over again. But next time, i'll try to respond friendly.
Instabuy... No matter what you do, no matter what you decide toadd or remove from the game, by the love of god, don't add Creepers!
It's funny how everyone talks about Minecraft clones. Minecraft is a lazy game that was created to make players play with themselves and feel satisfied, and I don't think it deserve a legit clone (it's not even a complete game yet!). It is essentially the toy equivalent of Play-Doh...... There is no campaign, no story, no modes. All you do is break bricks in a made-believe place and build made-believe stuff to made you believe you are surviving from made-believe monsters. What are you even defending really? Forever vacant houses made from bricks that you collected with your bare hands? It would at least be nice if you can make civilians spawn in your town, but nope. It's a deserted world with nothing but pigs and exploding greenlings. Why am I saying all this? Because I am hoping ManaCraft doesn't walk right into the same hellhole as Minecraft did. It would be nice if you can add RPG aspect to the game (stats, magic skills, etc.). But then again, I am uncertain if you are interested in making a sandbox game like Minecraft or a game focused on RPG/adventuring. At least add modes if you are going to make this a sandbox game, so players can have focus and goals when they are playing (like monster survival mode, quest mode, dungeon mode, or whatever) Since it is about magic, it would also be interesting if you let people build their own dungeons in the game (kind of like dungeon keeper, but with less depth and more degrees of freedom) that let them breed/spawn monsters inside and defend it from NPC, or something. I don't know, it's just a thought since there aren't that many good dungeon keeper style game out there.
In the beginning, it was meant as a survive-as-long-as-you-can sort of thing, until more features were added. There's still the survival aspect, and pretty much a free-roam game where you can do whatever you want anytime you want. People like me find that freedom very fun. Another aspect is building and surviving in multiplayer which I think is the best part of Minecraft.
Not arguing with u but even minecraft doesn't have all those and it's kinda basic, it is a very popular game and the reason y ppl like minecraft is because its unique and it's simple and it doesn't require u to know a lot or need any techniques/strategies to do rly well. It's a laid back, easy game that a lot of ppl love because it's not hard to play.
Don't worry there will be no creepers in this game. (I have something else in mind mwahaha) You pretty much summed it up. I'd like to add that there will be a main quest objective but it is optional to do it. This game will be very basic and as easy to play as minecraft. That was always my objective. However the game will be very difficult to beat. (ie quests). That being said, once the game is beat it will not end. You will be able to continue modifying your world and explore.
Can't wait for the surprise monsters That's a great goal to set for the game. Challenging, but allowing the player to also have their own freedom. Maybe as you improve the game, multiplayer might make its way into your game WHEN it becomes successful (notice I don't say "if" ). When I get a new generation iPod, I'll do all that I can to create videos and let's plays of it to get the game out to the world.
You should add random little quests as well to pass the time and to have other characters to keep you company. Has someone mentioned multiplayer? Funny people in multiplayer and the cute animals in Minecraft keep me from getting lonely...
There will be many mini dungeons to explore, some quest related some just plain random with a special item or something as reward.
Hey Dev Gods, Just curious if you guys have any more media to share, would really love to see where you folks are with the game so far. Cheers!
