    water pyhsics

    Hi Insta buy games

I am assuming the sea will be an infinite water source? But if a person wanted to create a lake, or flood a valley further in land, the water could only rise to sea level, and then stop. The only problem with this is that in some cases, say if there was a bowl on top of a mountain, it would not work.

We were playing around with the idea of having water pumps earlier. Maybe as a separate thing we could have infinite water sources, that are obtained using magic, as you said.

The trouble with infinite water sources are that they overflow and such. How about the infinite water fills up to, and everything below it, But they could only be placed on the a dirt block. This would people building large towers and putting a infinite water source on the top, and flooding the land.

Alternatively, the infinite water source could only create a certain amount of water before it runs out.

What do you think, would it be best to keep infinite water sources out of this, other than the sea?

    Beta testing

Do you guys have an approximate date of when you will start looking for beta testers? Whenever you're holding beta testing feel free to contact me because I've been following this forum for quite some time and I think that the game looks amazing and I would like to help contribute to this project, thanks.

Nah. I'm sure instabuy have people to beta test if they need too, people that perhaps now how to code or can offer strenuous testing and feedback face to face rather than fanbois who want to play the game early.

Just wait until it's released and buy it

It's probably to open up the inventory.

Instabuy, will we be able to see further? because a big issue i found with eden is that if you built something big, you cant even see it.

If you made the sight distance longer, would this increase the download amount, or would the device need to be more powerful, because i am fine with having memory of up to about 300mb, whereas my device might not be able to handle it if it needs lots of processing power.

    Thanks

This was kind of already discussed. It comes down to memory.

I actually think the viewing radius should be modifiable, or predetermined based on your idevice.

EditL And it's incredible what instabuy's doing. The sky looks perfect (a little cloudless though). That would be okay. It'll be great for moat and stuff.

Later down the road, magma could be another possibility.

Before it gets too late, I suggest having a Day Counter.

If you want, in the pause menu or something," Day (X) " could show so we know the age of our world. It gives the game "project' - like feel. If you really want to extend this, the hour, could show.

    Thanks Xoria

Have you ever seen/played minecraft? The veiwing radius is very large, whereas on Eden Worl builder, you cannot see very far at all. This really encloses the world and forces you to build smaller things

I'd just like to say, thankyou for this game Instabuy games! Keep on doing what you do:)

Eden's fast but it's field of vision is blasphemously short. :(

I had thought of this. The render distance could be increased but this would reduce your frames per second. One solution I had for viewing very large structures would be either a setting in options or a screenshot mode which would extend view distance. This may or may not be possible due to memory limitations though.

As for the question about the box with the arrow above it. It is the open inventory button. The inventory is not yet completed so we did not display it in our screenshots.

And also I'm guessing the thing in the inventory bar is a wand or staff -it looks really cool will there be other wands/staffs or different weapons ?

    Hi Instabuy Games

    Thank you for replying!:)

This is exactly what eden has; a option to take pictures where the controls are taken out of the screen and the viewing distance is considerably longer (about 3X), but i do notice a lot of lag.

I was talking to Xoria about this earlier, and he/she said increasing the viewing distance would increase memory, but are you saying it takes more power?

    Thanks

    By 'memory', I meant RAM

There will be other wands/staffs and standard (non-magic) weapons.

I never saw that feature in Eden (3X mode). Where is it?

The devices have a certain amount of RAM. So I am limited by that and also by the fill-rate of the device. Increasing view distance increases both the amount of RAM and how many triangles/texture units I'm using per frame.

I can get this running at about 20fps on an iphone4 for a screenshot mode. Its almost playable in that mode.

Yeah, eden does have one. I think 3X is pushing it a bit though. More like 1.5X

    IE this is 20
    fps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dwTSFIKBk0

That is amazing for an idevice world builder. More than enough. The legacy idevice users will suffer a bit. It's unavoidable, though.

How does the normal view compare to this?

I love the way there's an envelope in the mountain.

Looks great. But I do have a couple of questions.

    1) How much mana does flying take up/ how fast does it drain mana?

    2) Will there be different texture packs maybe as an in app purchases? If so can they have a preview option?

    3) How high can you fly/ what's the sky limit here?

Thanks. Keep up the good work!

The normal view is a little more than half that distance. I will probably add a setting so you can change the distance to what you want.

Flying has not yet been attached to any items so I don't know yet. It's just a dev mode feature for now. As for texture packs I'm not sure yet. Not sure yet if I'm going to impose a limit for flying but block building is 128 height for now.
