The travel agency looks like it is where the editor would be but don't see how I'd get levels as I'm sure they said it's through email? Anyway just completed a level and didn't get any card rewards? Anyone else have this ? I'm sure on the first completion of each new level I was getting 3 new cards.
You cannot download user maps in game. I believe they said they might look in to adding that. Currently, someone needs to email it to you or upload it on this forum. I think Darnok explained it in one of his posts if you scroll back.
Yeah, you've got the basics. The different card things are: * You get some specific cards awarded the first time you finish a level. That's basically to guarantee you have that card (like a L2 Barracks), and they're white/boring cards. * As you play, you earn cards as you fight, whether you win a level or lose. The earlier levels will tend to award you simpler cards (like low-level buildings or simple spells), while playing a haunted level near the end of the game will tend to award you much more rare, fancy, and powerful cards. * Replaying levels is absolutely a viable way to improve your deck -- either by using the cards directly, or just using them as cash for either combining, or just selling for gems. If you're looking for those starter towers, play the earlier levels on Master difficulty is the fastest way to earn stuff. * Buying the early cards packs (like "3 Common Cards") is also a way to get simple cards you need, absolutely.
That's not good -- it's supposed to be a hard level, but certainly not a wall. Sounds like that's the first one we should look at for balance tweaking. One thing I'd try if the mages are too expensive at that point -- try some dark archer towers, with the flame arrows power. They should be cheaper than the mages, and (I think) the things you'll hit up at that point should take reasonably large damage from fire.
Thanks, OrangeCan -- we're getting a number of posts and e-mails here about crashes. So far, Apple hasn't collected the crash reports for us yet, so we're kind of waiting on that. Our other guess is that it's a memory issue -- right now we load a huge amount of stuff that we could be more careful of (like loading graphics for all the monsters even if they don't show up on a level). So we're working on code right now to make that system smarter. It mean there'll be a bit more delay every time you start a level (while it reloads new graphics), but it may help with an out-of-memory crash. For the zooming -- yeah, it's definitely something we'll have to look at. We really built the game foremost on the iPad, where you could see the whole screen at once. We may go back and change how the whole zoom/pinch/pause thing works on the iPhone if needed.
Sorry about that, it is all somewhat confusing on the phone! Right now, sharing levels is kind of "push" based rather than pull. Basically, if anyone with the iPad version does the "Email Level" option, it'll create a thumbnail image of the level, and a .CTAMAP file. If you're on a phone, and have Man at Arms installed, tapping a .CTAMAP will give you the option to "Open in ManAtArms?" which will download the level into the Tom's Travel Agency section. So it's pretty easy when it's one person to a friend, but it's harder right now for general shared levels, because we didn't make a good system for putting a level up at a public website. That's something I'm working to fix right now, by the way -- eventually we'll have a nice, dynamic display with the ability to rate levels, and all that ... but in the meantime, I'm trying to just get a simple web page up where I can list levels and you can download them. If anyone with an iPad wants to use the "Email" option to send them to me at [email protected], I'll put those up as soon as I have it set! (and then I'll post the link here, of course)
Do the monsters have any certain weakness against tower types? With KR, I can easily identify which tower is best to use against certain monsters. How about with Man at Arms?
Spent hours playing today and I am happy that you think about changing and adding all sorts to this game as they sound like great additions. Just wondering is there a limit to my defensive and offensive deck size or can I keep expanding if I have the gems?
They do have weaknesses, and we don't do a good job in showing those yet (which is obviously something we should fix). Things like: * Undead all take extra damage from fire, and they take *super* damage from "Holy" damage (crystal archer tower, cleric, etc.) They are mostly immune to death or poison magic. * Guys with armor (like the pigs, or armored grizzly) take extra damage from electricity (lightning) .. but they take less damage from normal physical damage (like arrows). There are other things like that -- we'll work at making sure it shows up both in the descriptions ("Takes extra damage from fire!"), as well as with icons (like one of those red "No!" slash circles on top of a flame).
Glad you've been enjoying it! The offensive deck has a limit of 5,000 "Deck Points" right now -- if you over that, it won't update your deck online. (Eventually, we're going to shift this so that you can still submit, but your deck will only be defended against by expert players, in a better matchmaking system). Your defensive deck has no upper limit, although you can't generally use more than 2 of an identical card at the same time, or more than 6 abilities at once. But as long as you have gems to keep increasing your deck space, you can keep adding cards.
Thanks! Yeah, it should have a bunch of stuff, both fixes and enhancements. I think the iPad version (1.3) will come out first, and then the corresponding iPhone version immediately after that. We'll try to keep them synched with features from there on.
Just very quickly ... have thrown up a fast simple page here: http://inertsoap.com/manatarms/ that will list player levels. Right now it has Darnoc's level, and I'll put up more later that are some of the levels we've created, but which aren't in the main game. Eventually we'll make it prettier, and +1-able, and stuff like that.
Make sure you're going in order -- the first map in the top-left should be "Burning Canyons," and should show a flag if it's completed, rather than crossed swords. Then "Brightwater Oasis" should also show up with a flag .. If they both already show that way, and it's not showing you a path to "Zig Zag," ... maybe take a screenshot, and I'll try to figure out what's going wrong?
Ok this is now my number 1 TD game. Had troubles with Into The Deep. Could only beat it with 1 life remaining on easiest setting. Switched up strategy and used double barracks on choke points. Beat it on easiest with 20 life. I definitely underestimated barracks strength. I love how I had to rethink my deck. Did a few past into the deep on middle setting and have been doing good. I also just got a new card. I combined 3 reduced mage tower cards with one reduced archer I think and got a 75% gold increase! Sweet card! Currently I run the following Lvl 4 dark barracks ( heal/stun) Lvl 4 dragon cannon ( slow/ignite) Lvl 4 crystal archers (slow/freeze/crit/explode) I run tres amigos, 2 Phoenix bombers, and 2 lightning cards. I don't run mage cards as they seem a little steep in cost. Now that I got the 75% more gold card! I might try them. I just hope you guys can whip out new content soon wow what a game. Between this and bardbarian, I'm stoked. This game needs a TA review.
That's awesome -- you've made our day. That's an awesome cash card -- and yeah, switching around strategies like that can make a *huge* difference in various levels! We're definitely working on new content: we have some new levels, and a handful of new monsters to go with them, ready to come out. It's that, plus making sure we can fix any crash bugs on the iPhone version. As for a TA review, we totally agree! We've submitted information, but haven't heard from anyone. Any pointers, we'll happily send copies to anyone who would review the game!
