I'm not sure if this was an issue before the update because I hadn't got to that point but I can't get past the Festival of Lights level - the game just grinds to a halt whenever I get to the point that the fireflies(?) wave happens. It doesn't actually crash but just slows to a point where I can't actually do anything..... (Touch 5g ios7)

Is there some mechanic that alters the deck cost of cards after they have been put in the deck? Sometimes I have "0" as my left over deck points and when I click one of my cards already in the deck it takes it out and says I do not have room for it. It just happened again and I bought a couple deck upgrades and found that I was 66 points 'over' my limit somehow. Running iPhone 1.1.

First off... This game is awesome!!!!

And I can't believe I'm saying this because I don't want to make the game too hard, but the dragon cannon is pretty overpowered. I got this card after the first few levels and I am halfway through the grasslands and simply place the cannon next to a couple barracks and every level is a breeze.

Also with the exception of the dark archers, the archer towers seem waaay underpowered.

Again this game is worth 5 times the asking price easy but I'd love to replay the levels with these two issues fixed. Is that something that is in the works?

I like it when good games get some good recognition. I'm pretty happy this thread has reached 57 pages. Also proves this game could be even a bigger hit with some more polish for a sequel in the future. I hope the sales are going well!

Huh -- that's actually something we haven't seen before. We didn't retest that level extensively after setting the v1.1 upgrade, though, so we'll need to go back and check it. Trying to think what it could be ... possibly lightning effects ... not sure, otherwise.

Oh that's my fault if you just upgraded from version 1.0 to 1.1, and I apologize -- we were mucking with stats of cards and such, and some of the card costs went up (and some went down) ... and what happens is that if you've moved from (say) 999/1000 to 1001/1000, then the first card you touch it'll suddenly freak out.

Normally I keep track of the changes, and send an auto-adjustment so that your deck doesn't get hit with the penalty, but I missed it this time around. :( So, short version, all our fault.

Now, if it's happening in times *other* than when you're upgrading from version 1 to 1.1, then yes, definitely a bug!

Hi, Loox -- thanks! :) We've had a bunch of fun making the game, so we love to know when people are enjoying it.

We actually are nerfing the dragon cannon somewhat for what will be the 1.3 iPad / 1.2 iPhone versions. It was actually set incorrectly to begin with: it was supposed to have a 4-second cooldown between shots, but it got set at 2 seconds during testing at some point, which is even faster than the other canons (which are 2.5 seconds). So .. that part will be changing, at least -- it'll still have a powerful shot, but it'll only happen half as often.

For archers, I'm not sure -- I actually have two save files where I've bumped my archer range/firing speed/damage up, and they can pretty much blast anything on the map. I'll do a comparison between the different L3+ tower types again, though.

Thanks, L. Lawliet! We're going to keep adding polish, content, and bug fixes as long as we can afford to! Sales are medium right now -- they're paying enough to keep us alive, but we're not yet jumping into the swimming pools of gold. :)

Nice one thanks for the reply, I've tried to beat it a few times now but it's the same issue every time. I'm wondering if the easy level has less attackers so playing on that level might be a way past it for now? I've not played a level on easy yet so I don't know if it's less monsters or easier ones

Which version if the game would you all get if you had an iPad air and an iPhone 5?

I've got an IPad Mini Retina and an IPhone 5 and would recommend the IPad version over the Pocket version. The Pocket edition doesn't have a pinch to zoom option, so I find the IPad version gives you a much better (and more comfortable) view of the level you're playing.

But if you buy the IPad version Tricket will gift the Pocket Edition to you, if you EMail him. He definitely took care of me. Though I still play it almost exclusively on my IPad.

this is interesting as i didn't think pinch to zoom was available on the iPad version either. it doesn't work on mine (iPad2) and i had read a review where lack of zoom on the ipad was one of the reviewer's complaints. tricket??

Pinch-to-zoom would be for the iPhone version ... basically, instead of playing always at full scale, you'd pinch and zoom out to keep seeing more of the screen while playing. It's not an issue for the iPad version, where you can see the full screen without sacrificing anything. But other games like Kingdom Rush do at least a limited pinch-to-zoom on their iPhone versions.

We played with this at times, and found that (a) we all wanted it, and (b) once we had it in, we were actually *less* satisfied with the game. We all ended up playing almost exclusively at full zoomed-out mode ... and then we'd get pissed because reinforcements or special abilities wouldn't get targeted right, and the artwork looked relatively crummy. Because of that, we ended up doing the kind of weird blend: you can tap "zoom out" button to see the full screen at any time, and gameplay pauses; as soon as you tap somewhere, you zoom back in to that point.

I'm not sure it's optimal, but ... we found ourselves (and the beta testers) happier with the game, compared to when we let you play in zoomed-out mode.

Like Jake says, if you buy the iPad version and then e-mail me, I'll gift you a copy of the iPhone version. It was never our intent to make people pay twice for the same game, but combining them into a single universal app had a number of problems.

that's what i thought but the guy above was recommending the ipad version to someone because the iphone version DID NOT have it so i guess he got his wires crossed. i have the ipad version and i'm fine without it, there's no need to adjust the screen size.

    Hey, guys,

I wanted to give y'all a heads-up about two new features/behaviors that'll affect the more advanced players, when the v1.3 iPad version comes out.

First is in how the Master difficulty levels are shown when completed. It used to be that if you completed a level in Master, even with only 1 star, you'd get the black flag with 3 stars. We've change the behavior now, such that in Novice mode you can get 1 or 2 stars; Normal you can get 1, 2, or 3 stars, and Master you can get 2, 3, or 4 stars. You'll only get the black flag image if you complete Master mode with a full 4 stars.

Also, because of how the update works, all your levels that you completed in Master will now show up as only 3 stars, because the game doesn't know if you actually earned the 4th star. So you'll have to replay the level and earn 4 stars to get the black flag back -- sorry about that. :(

The second thing is that we're changing how cards are colored, slightly. It used to be that any non-enhanced card would show up as white. We've changed things a bit so that if a card is inherently powerful/rare (like a tree golem, or Engulfing Flames), it'll show up as green or orange colored, even without enhancements. You can still tell a card that is unmodified completely, because its deck cost (and any other text values) will show up in WHITE text, rather than green or red.

Also, it does look like we''ll go ahead with the fifth, extra-rare level of cards, which is black/Stars (you can see a black barracks like that in my screenshot). We've also improved the look of the gold/stars bordered cards to make them a little prettier.

    second 'novice' should be Normal....

what will the borders be on non-enhanced cards that aren't inherently powerful or rare? still white, right?

Yes, exactly -- so pretty much all normal buildings are white, along with most monsters. The blue ability cards vary (Redshirts is white, 2+2 is green), as do the orange effect cards -- a whole bunch of those will show up at least green now, with some starting out orange.

A quick skimming doesn't show me anything that starts out above orange, right now.

Hey, you guys were totally right, by the way -- there was a bug that could make the game stop giving you any magically-enhanced cards. A few of you had seen that, but I hadn't traced it down until now. Should be fixed for the v1.3 iPad update!

FYI I managed to get through the level by setting it to novice... I still got a huge amount of slowdown but I made it through.
