Try for a level 4 dragon mortar. They will slow and ignite. Also try combining money cards to get a moneybags card. The money cards are the ones with coins on the front and usually say "first x amount of barracks built will cost x% less. And only combine if you have 4. You are not guaranteed to get the moneybags but I have gotten 2 that way. Moneybags increases the amount of gold the mobs drop. Right now I run the level 4 dragon mortar with level 4 dark barracks. I don't use mage towers or archer. I do use a level 2 Phoenix tower for flying creatures. For reuse cards I run 2 spark, 2 Phoenix single bombers, one tres amigos and a Phoenix 5 bomber. I also run 2 moneybags cards so I gat about 110% more gold. Running that, I can run any level but the last on master with clicking swords every time to advance troops faster and lose no life's. I just pick a choke point and put 2 barracks up and a mortar. Then build the mortar up ASAP. The burn effect pretty much obliterates everything. If a level has the dodo birds(those fast ones) I might drop a few extra barracks. As soon as my abilities are off Cooldown, I pop them to get quick kills. Mortar level 4 is usually up within 30-40 seconds. I will say I agree with the guy a couple pages back, the moneybags cards break the difficulty. However, I still love creaming the levels to get more gems. IMO what really breaks it is the ability to stack the moneybags. Also, if you want to farm for gems, do it on master on the first levels. I ran a few and master allows you to finish much faster and the first levels aren't too bad. On master you can get about 30 gems a minute. Zig zag for some reason gave more. Sometimes 40/minute. I didn't do a ton of testing on the later levels but most seem to output the same amount per minute. Hope that helps!
Interesting -- we have a bunch of players who swear by the mage line -- they tend to end up with a Death Mage, and sweep the floor clean of enemies, or a full-powered Storm Mage (shows as Water Mage in some versions) and lightning enemies to death...
That's a good point about moneybags -- we wanted to try to not have too many weird rules, like ("you can have 2 of most cards, but only 1 of these...") or whatever. Maybe we can lower down the amount it gives you (so it won't max quite so high) while also lowering its play cost and rarity a bit. At the same point, I also love the "totally smear the enemy" once you have it, so maybe we just need to get the new Prestiege levels out and have both the attacker and defender take it to the next level ;-)
Got past Creepers Gonna Creep with Dragon Tower, Phoenix Towers and "phoenix's fly faster from abilities" card. Not sure that card even works with the Phoenix Towers, or exactly what it does. I have an Orange Tricannon that may be better than the white Dragon Tower on a per $ basis (its a lot cheaper with the bonuses), but in general Dragon>Tri Cannon. Man, I have so many archer buffs its crazy. +damage, +speed, +reload, -cost for the first 6, +range. I don't have hardly anything like that for the others. It will be interesting to see what I can do with it all. So far, its tough, as Archers have a tough time with huge numbers. I have used the Dark Tower a lot. What does the Crystal Tower do?
Here are my moneybags cards. How do you add an image right to the post instead of as an attachment? It only allows for one attachment. So this is my 75% moneybags! the other is 47% Edit..nm I guess this did put it right in. Still don't seem to be able to put more in. Maybe an edit.
I'd say the opposite, I love the mages, the death mage with its poison clouds is brilliant. The set up I use most the mage lvl4 death tower and the lvl4 cannon that includes the Valkyrie and then lvl2 barracks with archers on top. That gets me through most levels. Provided I can actually get it setup before getting over run. Then I've got my red guys cards that I use as emergency guys for any strays that get through. That card says 73% extra cash not 75%, the 75% is that it costs that much extra than normal to put in your deck which is why the number in the top right corner is red. Just thought I'd point it out.
Wow I can see how those cards would be awesome. I have an orange +30% starting wealth I just got. Clearly thats pretty good too since starting off is usually a bigger challenge then finishing.
The crystal tower is more about slowing your enemy -- it can encase guys in crystal and stop their movement, letting you gang up on them with other stuff. It also shoots holy bolts, which tend to be extra damaging against undead.
Here is my set up on into the deeps, which IMO is a decent difficulty spike. When I first encountered it, I had to run it on easy. This is on master. Notice how quick the level 4 dragon cannon is out with 1000 gold left over due to moneybags.
This is how the layout ends. The dragon towers are so powerful that I only upgraded two barracks to level 2. Once the dragons are in place, most the mobs don't make it to the troops. Having 6 ability cards is a big help too. There was 18,000 gold to spare. I have to say I never replay td games when I have beat them. Yet I still play the heck out of this one...this game truly deserves a 5 star. I am addicted to getting better cards....my lvl 4 barracks and my lvl 4 dragon are only green... Edit...hmm can't seem to upload the SS.
What type of cards do you have? And what is your deck size? If you are not going for the cheeve, I'd say(without knowing your cards) to use a lot of barracks. Usually two at a time at the choke points. Put up a couple archer towers to take the birds out. Use artillery with barracks. I'll post a pic of a good way to start. Again it's hard to say without knowing what you have for cards. Try playing levels that are easy to farm gems and buy more 300 gem packs then combine for better cards. Keep updating your deck size as well. Always use a redshirt card as they work great for holding off mobs.
This is how i start. Then I put two archer towers below. If you can get a level 2 Phoenix archer tower, they rock. Otherwise maybe upgrade them to 2-3. Two total archer towers should be fine. Put them below though so they don't attack the ground troops. Hopefully you are killing ground troops before they make it to the archer towers.
This s how i finish teddy bears picnic on master. But again, I have the moneybags cards so that helps a lot. Otherwise I'd probably need more towers spread out. If you let me know the cards you have, I can figure something out.
Ok Tabs, I did teddybear's picnic on normal using only level 2 barracks, level 2 archer and level 3 cannon. Which you should have. I also only used my tres amigos, my single bird and 2 lightnings. I took out my moneybags too. It got Harry at one point but was doable. Here is how I started. Notice how the troops are positioned. You want to get those top two barrack troops as low as you can so the cannon level 1 can reach them. Use your abilities right away to kill the mobs and get cash. Upgrade middle cannon to level 2 and the two barracks to level 2 first. Then upgrade the side cannons. Make sure to get the two archer towers down before the fliers come and have them at level 2. From this point on, you will work your way to the exit as the mobs over run you. Place barracks and cannons. When you get worked to the very end have two barracks and a cannon. I'll post 2 more images. Like I said at one point it gets Harry but after that, it's easy sailing. Just use your abilities as soon as they are off cool down. When mobs are near the exit, use all abilities there. At that point upgrade your troops and cannon to two and then get that cannon to 3 before any other. Then work your way back up the map upgrading all cannons to level 2 then 3. Towards the end, you will need to use your abilities on the fliers or a couple will get through. Or you could lay a third archer tower on the right side some place. Or upgrade them to level 3. Ok these screenshots hate me. I'll post this then post the images after.....
