Now the new icon is back! What the hell?! Absolutely bizarre. Antony, PLEASE take FREE off the icon. Too ugly for such a pretty game.
Yep, we'll get around to it. We have a few bugs that need fixing and it has to go through the whole apple submission process again before the icon can be updated.
I'm finding it impossible to complete the missions kill 3 enimies at a time and shoot enimies through walls etc.. Even though I'm clearly doing it maybe it's he same bug, guess Im just not noticing the score bonuses.. Guess I'll also chime in with some comments and ideas... This is probly the funnest game I've played in awhile, it's kind of part platformer, part runner, part cover shooter. What I'd like to see more of is the in between platforming sections with the swinging blades and stuff and possibly a roll button. Also for weapons maybe be able to setup like 3 u can switch back and forth from without having to go into the menu.. As for weapons I think a remote timed mine or bomb would be cool, and ninja stars or something.. And maybe a weapon that can knock back projectiles up close back at enimies I guess like a bat or something. Something like a blow-torch, a sling shot, a plasma gun with individual shots instead of a beam. Maybe like a wizards staff that can shoot fire ,Ice and lightning, and a boomerang. And for clothes I guess have outfits as some of the enimies, and I dunno pretty much anything is possible I guess from an astronaut to a knight and so on.. Also more characters Or the ability to change features like create a player. More levels definitely..I think this game would also be really cool with online co-op but with that you would need more free control over the character instead of auto running... Which would also be cool, difficult to do I know but just an idea. That's it...
Chances are its that bug. Close the app and restart it by double tapping the home button and removing it from the running apps list.
Great to hear that you will be taking the free off, and also adding a confirm dialog to armoury purchases. Glad you are taking our considerations to heart. Can you do one more thing? When you are playing levels like in time bomb mode, if you die, a screen (some might call a inapp nag screen) pops up asking game over or continue for 500 coins. Then you have to hit game over, then goto the next screen to retry the level. Can you add a button to the continue screen, and have 3 buttons, game over - continue - retry? This would make for faster get back to the game play, and it would make it not seem like a nag screen to buy more continues. I don't mind the game saying things like there's a new weapon in the armoury to purchase, but watching the continue screen keep popping up asking for money, and no way to retry could be changed for the better. If you could modify the continue screen to add a retry button, I would humbly appreciate it. Thanks!
I'll think about it. The trouble is that putting a retry button on there would skip the results screen and the results screen gives you coins ( 10 per 10,000 points ). So i don't see that skipping this and getting straight back to it is better for the player. I know that in Classic mode the results screen is not shown unless the player gets to the end of the level but if I only change it for classic mode it becomes inconsistant and inconsistencies can be confusing from a usability standpoint.
I missed this game when it came out somehow. Got it when I came across this thread. It's a really good game though and I appreciate the way IAP are worked into it. For a freemium title they are very unobtrusive. That said, I grabbed the double rewards IAP just to show some support for the game. And get some unlocks quicker. This game is better than MGS touch and stands up to epoch in my opinion. Tops of the genre on ios. Great job.
Why would the retry button have to skip the results screen and coin giveaways? Couldn't you make it so if you hit this new retry button, it would go to these screens before restarting the level? The retry button on the second screen kind of does this too, you hit retry and then it goes though the results screen, and then restarts. What do you think?
My suggestions are not to change the gameplay, but rather to increase certain parts of the gameplay that I like the most. 1) I wish there was more run and gun, specifically in between one stationary spot to the next. I think that going from spot to spot to spot would be a little less repetitive if there was more action in between each spot. 2) I like the jumps and changes in elevation already present in the game, but I think the more the merrier. I would like to see less point A to point B. For example, while in Metropolis, I'd like the height of the buildings to change more, so when you jump down you actually feel like you are changing location, like you feel the descent downwards. I think another way to look at this is to give the progression of the boards a more 'obstacle course' feel to it, instead of being so linear. I guess that goes along with the swinging blade and roll button quote from above. This kind of stuff adds to the adventure aspect of the game, which I think is lacking ever so slightly.
I'm not sure I understand. What you're describing is essentially what is already there: continue screen -> results screen -> objectives screen Only you want the retry button on the continue screen so that you just hit a 'next' button on the results screen? Doesn't seem like it would be any faster for the user.
Antony when I said the adventure aspect is 'lacking ever so slightly' I didn't mean that as sarcasm. I didn't word that right and didn't want you to misconstrue. I meant that it is there already, but a little more so of the ups and downs with a little more dynamic in between stops could count as 'adventure.'
Hi. I have the Android version but yeah I have run into the problem numerous times as well. Killing it and reopening usually solves the problem. Seems pretty random to me no matter what weapon is being used. I usually miss stuff like headshots, double/triple kills. But I get (like you said) close calls and hat shots. Weird...
You know, if you have a working version for PC already and are having a hard time finding a publisher, you could try the Humble Indie Bundle. You could make a few hundred thousand, and use that to invest in console. Just an idea...
Hi Anthony! This game is great, gets 4.5/5 in my book (I rarely ever give a game anything more than 4). Does everything really well. The only thing that's keeping this game from getting a perfect score is a lack of variety in the gameplay. It's basically just tap to shoot all the way. The suggestion above is good. A lot more jumping, running and shooting and maybe a little more extra. Maybe you could create a fourth campaign that has to be purchased for $0.99 via IAP. I think that won't be too bad, as long as there's more variety in there. Btw, me having the Android version, I think the game stutters quite a lot, like every 20 seconds. I have a Tegra 3 tablet and others also complain of this so it's not an isolated incident. Just a slight niggle but it's noticeable. great job mate!
How to keep combos alive and get big scores is a mystery to me. I try not to get hit, but the combo dies from scene to scene anyway and I always get 1 star. Is frustrating.
SumoSplash: Yep I totally got that from your first post, and I totally agree. himmatsj: Yeah sorry about that bug. I've found it and fixed it so expect it to be resolved in the next update. No ETA on that as of yet, but shouldn't be far off for Android, iOS will be a little longer because of the approval process. himmatsj: I've e-mailed the humble indie bundle guy without response a few months ago. There are a lot of great indie games so I suspect he gets bombarded with games and can't reply to everyone. I'll hit him up again now we have bit more exposure and a higher user rating. ArtNJ: Combos timeout if you don't shoot anyone in a while. This time gets extended a little bit every time you shoot an enemy. You can also extend it a bit longer using the Hero Time power up, useful for chaining cover points together. The key to large scores is to not get hit, don't kill hostages, get your combos to last as long as you can and get as high a multiplier as possible (headshots, chain kills, double kills). Also for a few extra points you can shoot dead enemies. Also if you haven't unlocked the bigger guns then they will help a lot as well.
I originally posted this question in the "News and Reviews" thread's comments but saw your active presence here and decided to include my original post here, too: "I bought the game when it first came out and deleted it after completing it to open up space on my iPad. However, after reading about the updates and reinstalling the game, I didn't receive the 25,000 gold coins noted in the article. Please advise."
it's been answered... you only get the 20,000 coins if you still have the game on your device when updating.
Yeah, sorry. Apple does not provide a way to check if a user has paid for an app or not so checking the save game was my only option. Sadly that gets deleted when you delete the app.
