Update 09/22/09 Mail Notifier has been approved and it is for sale in the App Store. Get Mail Notifier Mail Notifier delivers push notifications for Hotmail, Gmail, and AOL mail. It is the first app to bring push Hotmail, and AOL mail to the iPhone. It is now in the App Store for $4.99. I would also like to thank beta testers who helped with the beta testing. Does it provide a full interface to those email clients or is it purely a notifier of incoming email? Cheers, Jamie.
I don't get it. What does it do? Does it replace the default mail app, or just add popup like for when you get a text?
It provides the push notifications and once you receive a notification of a new email, you can go into the Mail app to view your new email in full if you wish.
It lets you be notified instantly when you have a new email instead of having to go check if you have an email.
Update: 2.0 has been approved and is in the App Store What is new: -Selectable ringtones -Auto silence period -Support for IMAP email accounts
looks nice, if only i had 5 bucks -_- It could be used as a push notification for facebook! As in it tells you the email when it arrives in your acount (hotmail, etc. not facebook mail)
you do know that gmail now supports native push trough exchange protocol? if you have an aol or hotmail account just forward it to a gmail and check that one from the iphone http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=default you can set your phone to sync contacts, calendar AND mail over the air.
The problem I have with the exchange support in gmail is that when I use that, I can no longer search on the server. That's a critical feature for me, so I went back to IMAP. So... this app is intriguing, but sounds a bit overpriced.
I've got one of those push notifiers for mail. it wasn't really good. since you couldn't open the mail from inside the app, and when getting the notification you had to open the mail app and do a manual update. its a very unpolished feeling to it. its not seamless
What I use for better searching and some other situations os this app http://appshopper.com/utilities/appgmail its basically a nice frontend, for safari and the newest gmail mobile interface. it will better remember your password, and you'll be able to do better server searches. so while I use exchange for everyday mail things when I need to search I go there.
