I asked this as well and was pleasantly surprised once I got the expansion. If you already have all 10 promocodes in effect, each of these expansion decks will start off with 10 out of 40 cards unlocked (no need to reapply the promos or anything as, clearly, even these expansion decks were all planned from the get go). Since these 10 cards for each of the new expansion decks all have the little promo meteor thingy on the card and are unlocked even before you have earned access to the decks they're in, it is more than clear that those are promo cards. Now I just wish the AI decks got these promos as well. As a guy who mainly plays the AI, having access to these insanely almost broken cards when the AI doesn't doesn't seem all that fair. Perhaps (I know unlikely), in a patch the dev team can give each opponent a Platinum Deck where they get to reach their true ultimate forms with at least some of the promos in effect for each deck. Heck, I'd even pay another $1 for the honor!
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god... EHRMAGHERD!!! What an epic fail I did... Looking how to unlock expansion's promo cards while having these already unlocked on my ipad... What an epic fail... GOSH!!! (Bought & unlocked expansion decks on their release day, all promo codes already used during base M13 gameplay... After each single expansion's deck unlock I stopped playing due to work, waiting for weekend...) By the way, thank you for your answer... EHRMAGHERD...!!!
I could not disagree with this more. Lets take Shadow Era for a example. It seems to be much similar to Magic in that its appearance is that of a table top card game, and the developers of that game managed to make it fit on the iPhone's smaller screen. So in my opinion even a watered down version of Magic with online play at the very least could work, and I truly feel the developers are missing out as it would mean more people buying extra IAP's and all.
A Kia and a high end race car are similar in that they're both vehicles, but you can't drive one around daily. Magic is very different than Shadow Era, comparing them isn't appropriate. I'd love to see an iPhone version, but what we have here is a direct copy from the PC/Console version with slight differences. They would have to take the port and completely redesign it, versus porting it. Unless they want to dump a stupid amount of money in redesigning the whole thing, I don't think it will happen. Remember, they didn't design Magic for the iPad, they ported over what you get in the other forms, with negligible modifications. To then put it on the iPhone, it would need a full redesign. Hence my Kia/race car analogy.
This game would be a nightmare to play on the small screen of an iPhone. It would help having a larger player base on one hand, but on the other, the app would get tons of one star reviews on how bad the game plays on a small screen. Even playing this on an iPad there are times I wish the screen was bigger.
So no one knows why Magic 2013 on iPad has only one type of art for every land, unlike the console and PC versions?
The added types wouldn't add that much burden on the memory. The game has to already deal with a lot of art, a little more couldn't hurt. Especially when browsing your entire library doesn't kill the app. Speaking of browsing entire libraries, I drew nearly half my library in one turn with Crosswinds last night...
Weird UI issue--Please help I am so frustrated. I just lost a close game I should have one because of a UI bug. The computer had disabled one of my most powerful creatures with an Enchantment/Aura ("Pacifism" -- God I hate that card!). I wanted to remove the Pacifism aura with my Maelstrom Pulse, which lets me destroy target nonland permanent. However, because the opponent's Pacifism was under my creature, when I tapped my creature to select the Pacifism under it, I ended up destroying my own creature instead. I had assumed it would give me a choice as to which to destroy, but apparently I was expecting too much. Is there a way to get around this? Or can you just not destroy enchantments attached to cards? If so, that basically ruins the game, doesn't it?
If I'm not mistaken, it works like this. Double tap on your creature/or pacifism. This would zoom in on the two cards. Scroll to the one you want and on the right, there would be boxes of choice. Forgot the term, something like choose card etc.
OK, you're right. I happened again and it works with the double-tap. I still think that's a UI fail. If you tap on a stack of cards to select an effect, it should not just assume that you want the top card.
I'm actually having trouble destroying lands (with wrecking ball) when they are tapped. I don't think the same technique works though. I actually just lost a game. I cast terminate (usually by flicking my finger up) and accidentally, my other fingers managed to tap my own creatures and targeted it immediately. LOL.
Dream Puppets vs Sepulchral Strength wins are so satisfying, one of the more interesting matchups in the game.
I just reinstalled the game after being away from it for a few months. I downloaded it when it came out, even unlocked the full game, but for whatever reason, I think it had something to do with losing one too many times... I stopped playing it then ended up deleting it when I needed room for FIFA 13 and Last Express. Now that I am finished with the latter, I decided to give this game another shot. Just need to remember this time to change decks once in a while. Some decks are better suited for different opponents... I think I just tried to beat everyone with Born of Flame. And that sometimes I lose due to bad luck with the draw. Now that I think I have a better handle with deck management, I'm doing a lot better. Just finished beating the Spiraling Mana.
How can I play against myself? I have two iPads, both of which have Magic on them. Currently they both are running the same Game Center account. Is it possible for me to play Magic against a friend if I give him one of the iPads, or is it impossible if the account is the same? Can I log out of that account and into a new one, but keep all my purchased cards etc.? Thanks!
Just create another gamecenter account. Even if you have the same appleid for purchases on both iPads if you sign into a different gamecenter account on one of the ipads it *should* work based on my experience with all the previous games I have owned (including Kard Combat) but for some reason I can not get it to work with Magic 2013. Please do give it a try though as it might work for you. I am curious the problem is somehow limited to my wife and my gamecenter accounts or if it really has issues for others too. It really should work though. The problem I see is the other person gets the gamecenter notification but when they go into the app the game does not show up for the person that is notified. I tried inviting both from each gamecenter account and it still doesn't work for either one. I have removed Magic 2013 (including gamecenter data for that game) on both systems, reinstalled and still have the same issue which is disappointing. I only bought the game to play with the wife when it was first released but still can't do so . I even paid for some IAP before testing the multiplayer.
I'm just stoked that I was able to play offline last night and it actually appeared to not only know where I last left off in my progress through the campaign, but save the progress I made last night.
