I think if you get decently familiar with all the decks and go through the challenges (even if you simply look up the solutions) you'll have enough of a grasp of the game to make the transition. The biggest learning curve, which is also the most fun aspect, is figuring out how to build your own decks from scratch.

And I would definitely be interested in a TA tournament. How would that work? Some one makes up a tier list and the winner of each match posts a screenshot of the winning screen before moving into the next tier?

I can't find the answer, so I'm sorry did its already been posted.

I see the promotional codes. I imagine you need to unlock the full game before you can use these. Is this correct?

Yes, that's correct. I know for certain, as I went to unlock the promo cards on my wife's iPad, but you don't have access to the store section (where you enter the promo codes) until you purchase the full version. The upgrade area of the game turns into the store after you pay the $9.99.

Yeah that's what I figured. I guess the hardest part is finding a time that is suitable for everyone that wants to take part.

Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered but I'm not about to slog through 90+ pages hoping to find these answers:

    1. Why does the NPC player get to play more than 4 of any card? It gets annoying when playing against the same two or three cards round after round after round.

    2. Is it possible to purchase a deck again, so that the gimmick the NPC employs with stuffing the deck with 10+ of the same card can be used for your own deck?

This holds true ONLY in Encounters which are sort of like a "Magic Batting Cages" to help you test your deck vs. some classic game mechanic. None of the REAL AI duelists in the game can pull this nonsense nor will any of them ever be that one dimensional.

    Great game. Can't stop playing.

The wifi/bluetooth feature is good would be nice to see it a bit more robust.

Attacking and blocking. I wish when you have 23 minions there was a button attack with all then untap those that you want to hold back. I.e. hold back to, makes it easier than clicking 23 times.

Which brings me to mutliple blocking damn if you have more than 10 creatures the blocking mechanism get to be so frustrating trying to figure out who is blocking who. How many mobs left. Maybe zoom in on Mobs for that moment since assigning attackers does not allow instants.

Great game head and shoulders above AR:C. Played it, boring. 2-3 basic decks everyone plays, and soo broken took 6 months to even get card trading. bleh! and since decks are stored offline on ubifail servers devs have a habit of adding or subtracting cards. Especially if you suck up to them. Arc was $4.99 this $9.99 and you can see why its worth it. Arc charges further $2.99 for just access more cards, lol won't even give you the cards.

Does anyone have tips for beating Odric on revenge in Planeswalker difficulty? It seems impossible. Before I can blink he has a ton of creatures out. Any creatures I put out get exiled or kidnapped by his creatures.

I suffered the perma-crashing as well, and the Gamecenter log-out thing worked for me too.

    Phew!

As for Odric: he's definitely one of the toughest opponents, particularly in Revenge mode - reliable, quick, overwhelming numbers. Your best bet is to switch to Chandra and use all her mass removal to sweep up Odric's threats.

This sounds funny but I get a 75% quit rate when opponents block or kill my phyrexian obliterator. Lol. Guess they don't read the cards. :D

easy way to beat him is use the Jace deck and mill him out. did it on my first try. tried doing it again with the liliana revenge duel to no avail so far.

The green decks will do badly vs Odric. Chandra is a fine choice for the matchup.

I don't understand the switching decks to beat X, aren't you all going through the game with each deck and tuning them so you can beat all opponents reliably with the same maindeck? Odric hasn't presented me a challenge with any of the decks once I get the chance to tune it somewhat. I thought both green decks did particularly well against Odric even without many unlocks, unlike Jace's deck.

If the goal is just to beat Odric, you can just replay him until he gets mana screwed/flooded and walk over him with any deck. An unfortunate fact of the game is that some small but still significant percentage of games are going to be decided by the shuffle.

The best configuration of each deck does not beat every other AI deck.

The green decks will get stomped by Odric because you get overwhelmed too easily.

The Jace deck just sucks.... unless you want to take down Bolas.

And playing Krenko's deck vs Blue decks feels like cheating when you draw Goblin Piledriver.

Why make it harder and try to beat the computer with bad decks?

That's not my experience, anyway. A lot of the fun for me is tuning the decks so that they do work well in all circumstances. Jace has many answers to the piledriver, and although it's really skewed to the higher cost cards by default, he has enough fast stalling cards to hold back the goblin swarm quite handily. By turn 7-8 Jace can roll over the goblins for a damage win or even a mill win with a better than average draw.

I beg to differ. I've beaten every deck except Krenko on revenge mode using the jace deck. Granted, I have to have a good starting hand and good card draws to beat most decks, but it's not as if the deck is useless.

Besides, getting sword of mind and body going successfully is just too freaking fun. :D

Has anyone had any problems connecting multiplayer with a friend? I have tried to play against my wife and we get the invitation from gamecenter but when you go into the game the challenged person doesn't see the game listed to join it. I have tried a dozen times now even switching the challenger to the other person.

We both use different gamecenter logins but we both have the same itunes account for purchases. We can play KardCombat without issue using gamecenter.

The only thing I can think of is she has not actually played a real round yet (only the tutorial has she looked at). Maybe she needs to play a game for gamecenter to work properly or something. Very frustrating because we were psyched to be able to play magic together on our ipads.

I feel the Jace deck is the weakest. Sure Sword of Body and Mind is good, but Jace's Erasure, Howling Mine, Mind Sculpt etc are all horrible cards by themselves. You can mill out your opponents pretty fast, and that's the synergy of the deck. The problem though is you have a bunch of cards that dont do anything other mill.

If your opponent has a blistering fast start of T1 Elite Vanguard, T2, Raise the alarm, t3 Glorious anthem, casting Howling Mine is adding fuel to their fine. Typically in competitive mtg mill is weaker for this reason; you don't affect the board state.

Roughly in my head this is how I see it:
Odric: Very nice with the token producers. Without Glorious Anthem/Honor of the Pure, it's a bit of a grind
Ajani: Pretty much the Soul Sisters deck of a few years back. The deck has good synergy with the life gain and alot of good haymakers. I love this deck for Planechase (Felidar Sovereign!)

Talrand: Pretty good. Has some fun stuff. Talrand's invocation and getting it back with archeomancer is game vs bad decks
Jace: Without a good defense you are easily toast. I prefer playing in slower games (e.g. this deck stomps bolas)

Liliana: Fairly typical monoblack goodstuff. Demonic Tutor is busted as is being able to cast stuff like Reiver Demon.
Nefarox: Pretty effective deck. Very balanced with removal/creatures. Just your mana sucks a bit. I cut Cathedral of War from my list because it sucks.

Chandra: The burn heavy red deck. The smaller creatures suck but you need to play them. You have to go top heavy when you are given gifts like Inferno Titan (x2).
Krenko: Goblins! The creature version. It's kinda like Odric but with different synergies (Siege Gang/Arms Dealer/Piledriver/Warchief/Chieftan)

Garruk: Typical green fat. If you hit an early Garruk's Packleader you're set well. You really need the acceleration.
Yeva: The 'tricksy' green deck. You are a bit slower and durdlier but you have better synergies. Garruk gets to cast Howl of the Wolf Pack. You get the cast Wild Pair and fetch Thragtusk with Roaring Primadox

However, the decks really highlight the individual colour weaknesses. White has fine creatures (army colour) but conditional removal Baneslayer Angel (BSA) is unfair. Blue has fliers some cute spells but no real removal. Black has good removal but below average creatures. Red has really good spells but bad creatures. Green has really good creatures but no removal (and I hate Beast Within)
