You're very welcome. I bet you will encounter a lot of things that make no sense at first, but once you understand them they're awesome to toy around with. I'm not sure if a thing like running out of cards means losing the game was explained in the tutorial, but these things all add up in strategies you can run. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask,i'm sure one of the guys here will have an answer. Enjoy!
Of course each strategy is likely to be a success when properly paired with a good matchup. The monoblue killing-grimoire deck is good against slow starting deck (even the Nefarox's one, since in many cases, if you're quite lucky, you can abuse of Unsummon and other bouncing spell to timely get rid of the lone attacker, while gaining the necessary momentum to slim opponent's deck) but it fail easily against Krenko's monored, the Odric's (when starting with an effective hand) and in many cases against any burn deck (that's in real life). Playing a control deck (critters n' burn = aggro deck, huge monsters = stompy deck, tri-colored monsters/burn/heal = zoo, just to say few common popular nicknames known here in tournament play) requires patience, a huge amount of attention (better to literally anticipate what's coming...!) and, above everything, quite steady nerves: it's not rare to win a game with just a pfft! near to complete loss. But guaranteed, it's highly, highly, highly rewarding when you're successful!!! After all, in Magic, proper mastering of a control deck often means on the table that you're by far superior against your enemy LOL!!!
Yeah,i was so pleased with my freshly unlocked Dream Puppets deck and after crushing many opponents with it i thought it was a good idea to play against Liliana because there were not much creatures she could kill. I had an awesome build up and her stack was going into her graveyard fast, ofcourse i had to draw a lot of cards myself as well. Then underworld dreams hit the field, and with no card to destroy it i was a goner in 3 turns. It was awesome to see 1 card turn my own stratety against me,i haven't touched Dream Puppets since then(yesterday). I will get my revenge though. Love to win with an underdog deck.
Dream puppets and obedient dead are my two favorite decks. I wish I could combine them... Which actually, I kind of did. In custom games, I've done a few rounds of two headed giant with myself using dream puppets and my team mate using obedient dead. It's all a game of stay alive until underworld dreams comes out, and then it's like two turns and a win, lol.
I'm fighting Ravnica and when she casts Lightning Hex that does 3 damage to target creature or player, it sends my creature with more than 3 toughness to the graveyard. Is this a bug?
Hi im actually new to this game never played the real version, just 1 day with the tutorial and the how to play section teached me the game. I still need to learn some effects and symbols but i got the basics, and some strategies. Been playing the cpu so far, hopefully soon i start playing online and maybe some of the guys here if they are up for a game . I come from fighting games, fps and MMOs. Changing to strategy card games is like a huge adrenaline cut off, but ill manage, I like and enjoy the game so far. 4 vs game is awsome. In my opinion Yu-Gi-Oh was a better card strategy game when it started but they started adding all the new stuff, cards and it went down the drain. Yugioh also doesnt have an ipad app either haha so... +100 points for magic i give it 5/5
Was Fire Servant in play? When he is in play, red instants and sorceries deal double their normal damage, which would explain what you are talking about.
Well this is good to know i lost a 4 vs game vs the CPU, me and the lion were the last standing he had 300+ life points (rofl i have a screen shot) i had 2 life left, he had 0 cards left on his deck so that meant on his next turn i would win but he had a creature that could damage my blocking creature and me at the same time (its a claw symbol) so i lost in his very last turn , salt levels were high after that long game.
Is there a way to combine decks similar to what is done in the challenges? I see some great combos but don't see any way to do this in the Deck Manager. Thanks!
It is too bad you can't buy cards from 1993 to 1997. I would gladly pay to see/play those cards again. They are missing a huge market on the nostalgia factor for people who played early and have not played since then. Everyone remembers the artwork of cards and what a blast it would be too see them all again on the ipad.
Duels of the Planeswalkers is pretty much a Magic "light". Hopefully they will make an iPad client for Magic Online some day, which has the full library from classic to present.
I have no clue. I played it years and years ago when it first came out, but I'm sure much has changed with it since then. It's basically a digital version of the game, so you buy decks and boosters just like the table top version. Now that this game is pulling me back in to Magic, I've been thinking about getting it again. An iPad version would definitely be the tipping factor for me. Too bad I don't still have my old account info.
You may download online client for free, while buying tickets (to enter rated tournaments) and of course boosters/introductory set/whatever are paid like the real life card version. You may even convert your digital cards to real cards via the "Redemption" option. Everything is well explained on WotC website, and all features of the online game are also explained on the client menu itself.
I think there is no AI to play against, since we're talking about a 100% digital conversion of the real life tcg, with all expansions and sets included. After all, it is almost impossible to create a true AI for a game which feature more than 10k different cards, not mentioning certain popular format (draft) which heavily depends on human choices for cards. Probably WotC isn't interested to put a digital true opponent against his popular tcg (=money matters, including the most important collecting detail). Hence the release of only "introductory" softwares, perhaps limited to a finite number of cards.
Campaign medals In campaign mode as you beat opponents a gold, silver, or bronze medal appears over their avatar. I am wondering how that is calculated. I only ask because a was replaying the very first enemy and beat I'm in less than five turns, I don't think he played a single card. It was the most decisive victory I've had while playing this game but the medal was still bronze. If anyone has any thoughts on this I would love to hear them.
