They are all from M13, I promise you. That's basically the point of this game - it ties through to the new set so players of the iPad app can have a smooth transition into the cardboard game.

Some of the cards are exciting - Fireblast! When I saw that with it's M13 set icon I had a wonderful flashback to 1997 and the glory of Sligh decks. Pretty sure I had a Natural Order cast against me as well, which is a big reprint. And the Medallions.

1 - if you tap the spell you want to cast your lands will cycle through the available options for casting it. It highlights the lands that are going to be tapped.

2 - his guys have loads of Exalted. If a creature attacks alone it gets +1/+1 for each Exalted thing he has. They can get pretty big.

For those of us on the iPad 1 who can't complete the 4 player planeschase mode, I just played three rounds of two player planeschase in e custom games section and it worked just fine. It's kind of alike a consolation prize for us, lol.

Hadn't played Magic in a long, long time. I used to have dual lands and play two colors, but none of these decks seem to support that save Nefrox(sp?) white/black? If I want to use two colors here is it my only option or I am missing something?

I'm quite sure neither the Medallions nor the Moxes will be available as a reprint in Magic 2013 Core Set. Maybe WotC can bring us Medallions as an extraordinary surprise, but it's very unlikely that will happen.

For sure, Nicol Bolas (planeswalker) and certain other planeswalkers will be reprinted with M13. You can find various spoiler lists online, just google them :p

Unfortunately, there are no other multicolored decks apart Nefarox's. Maybe when next DLC will be released, we may pick some multicolored options.

Little info: one of the incoming Magic expansions will be Ravnica Returns... Figure what will features...!!! :D

People have already hacked open the files, the expansion will have 5 more 2-color decks.

I beat all the challenges, but I didn't get the achievement for beating 10 of them. Any ideas? I guess it doesn't matter that much, but it feels a little silly.

I must completely suck or just had a bad draw bc I lost the first campaign battle, won the rematch but phew.

Seems much more complicated and fast moving than Ascension.

Game has certainly changed since the short summer I played the actual card game back in 1995.

Probably there is one annoying bug because I've completed all of 10 puzzles (with the 5-way Praetors all done) while game still not reporting the achievement on Gamecenter. Tried completing various times all of these puzzles again, no achievement unlock. When winning last puzzle, by the way, game report to screen I've unlocked the Master of Puzzles... Only in Gamecenter and of course my Player Stats profile this won't show ungrayed...

I think some other people have reported this. Definitely devs need to make proper check here. I'm on ipad2, no other problems incurred until now.

About the hacking open the files, that's an interesting confirmation to what, however, I've already known by my previous Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers experience... I've finished all of previous (2, one in xbox360, the last on ps3) Magic releases, bought extra decks and always got some multicolored. Hope Wizards will continue same policy here... It's quite boring to stick "only" to monocolored decks (they're mostly well balanced, must admit) when who talks was a huge fan of Ravnica block...!!! :D

Duels 2013 features cards from throughout Magic's history. There are some M13 cards in the game, but not every card in the game is in M13.

If you'd like to see the M13 cards that have been previewed so far, you can check out the preview gallery on our website: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/magic2013/cig

    That's me set to rights!

I asked a friend of mine who should know these things, and he assured me that it all tied through to M13 (with the obvious exception of Bolas' deck). I guess he must have been misinformed.

So I can give up on my dream of reintroducing my opponent's face to Fireblast?

ha ha! I can SO relate. That's around when I played Magic also.

I still play Ascension daily, but it this game seems orders of magnitude more complicated. I'm enjoying the challenge. I'm going to be playing this one for a long time.

Same here, but now after few matches and wins ... This game is really beyond my expectations. So much more fun than ascension ... Except I am too bad for trying online games.

Well, you are right that the game is tied to M13 - but just not tied quite as tightly as you thought. Duels 2013 is the first time you get to play many of the M13 cards, and the exalted mechanic is in both Duels 2013 and M13.

As far as Fireblast goes, I can't say anything yet. You'll just have to wait until M13 releases! ;)

Magic is definitely one of the most complex games ever made - certainly when you start playing it to a high standard. It's like Chess cubed.

I love Ascension, and you can see the Magic DNA in that game (Rochester Draft), but it's nowhere near as challenging as it's big brother. Any single game of Magic can be decided by big swings in luck, which is far less prevalent in Ascension, but over time and enough games Magic rewards and requires a much higher level of skill.

I'm a little disappointed in the AI - it misses a few too many obvious edges, never bluffs you, doesn't pick optimal timing for it's plays, and never plays the percentages - but there must be limits to what you can get an iPad to do in a reasonable space of time.

Downloaded the Game, played a few matches and liked it - So for 9.99 i get the full game, no other hidden cost? Consensus here is that this is a good buy?

9.99 gets you access to everything. You will need to play a lot of games to unlock all the extra cards for all the extra decks, which you can shortcut by paying $1 to fully unlock one of the ten decks, but TBH playing and earning those cards is a big part of the appeal.

Magic is a game that has been immensely popular in the real world for 17 years, and that doesn't happen by accident. If you've enjoyed the free sample then the $10 is money VERY well spent.

Same. It takes long enough for it to think of moves on Planeswalker, though, so I'm willing to let it slide for the sake of the game remaining playable.

    Noob wants to progress

First time i've been playing MtG ever and I really love the game.

But I'm honest, I do rely on the hint system for some choices.

Now, I've managed to win all the campaigns in Mage mode, most of my wins with the pack instinct deck, but now I'm stuck at the duel with Nicol Bolas, which I keep on losing with this deck, as well as with celestial lights and exalted darkness.

Any suggestions on how to defeat Bolas are welcome:D

A lot of it just comes down to getting lucky and pulling the right cards when you need them. I took him down with the dream puppets deck, but it took a bunch of tries.

Give the obedient dead deck a couple of tries. Whenever I get stuck on a duel I can't seem to beat with the dream puppets deck, I switch to obedient dead and manage to pull out a win. It's a pretty balanced deck of both creatures and enemy control.
