Then the problem lies with your understanding of the use of the language - which is easy to rectify, fortunately.
Just read the earlier replies recommending turning on the option 'Hold Priority' - this does make a real difference - thanks. However, I wish it would also pause at the end of the opponent's turn too - since sometimes I may want to perform an action there, before my turn begins... Jamie.
so, im wondering if anyone can help me with a timing issue im having. basically i want to play an instant that -5 attack to a monster therefore negating his proposed attack. However, im finding that i dont seem to be able to play it in time (cant play an instant when attackers and blockers are being declared). does this mean i should play this before the opponent combat phase and just make a judgement call about which monster i think/dont want him to attack with or is there a way to play this once attackers and blockers are declared? i was finding that as soon as attackers and blockers were declared the battles immediately commenced and i didnt have time to play it at that point. Thanks for any advice. totally loving this game btw, wish there were more hours in the day and that i didnt have to work!
I think you have to mash the hourglass button during the combat to allow yourself to play the instant. Should be able to play it though... [Edit] Just tried this and it worked. A little awkward mechanically though.
Now, after the initial shock has settled a bit... I have to say; Best iPad game. Ever. Totally worth the 5-star TouchArcade rating. I actually thought that the iOS-version of Magic would be dumbed down but its not. Epic.
No. All I ever did was state the price was out of my range and I'd wait for the price drop. If you really think I have complained about the price I'd love to see a quote. (and for any of the other things I've been accused of saying in this thread).
loving the game and it seems like there is an interesting amount of depth to keep me going for some time. currently working on unlocking a born of flame red deck which seems good but havent tried the others to know how it compares. really interesting playing online though as the different decks and player skills make it feel different every game. the only thing that is annoying me is people quitting out of multiplayer games just before they lose. I imagine this is to stop their rank dropping but is really annoying. looking in the leaderboards i see a few players in the top 15 who i have beat but quit out at the last minute.
This was a problem already present on the first Duels of the Planeswalkers. After certain times it was fixed. From then, any people leaving ranked matches (xbox or psn, same thing) prior proper final conclusion receive automatically a game loss. I haven't tested so much the multiplayer of this M2013, but I'm confident it is the same story. I'm one of peoples who leaves matches before the finish, but only when it's clear I lose mathematically. Just a matter of having a little more time to play another match, so I hope ranked matches are affected by faster quit just like full played lost match.
This seems like good sportsmanship to me, but isn't there a concede option? Also, is match-making based on rank?
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/guy guy n. 2. Usually, guys. Informal. persons of either sex; people: Could one of you guys help me with this?
There is a concede option, and that's what I always use and what I'm talking about. Hope when clicking "concede game" will result proper match loss and subsequent ranking update. Match-making I suspect is based only on Gamecenter engine and I remember to have read somewhere that GC doesn't feature a similar-rank-automatch option. Probably I may be wrong, the only thing I'm sure is that Gamecenter isn't the better option for a decent online multiplayer experience: sometime I must wait for ages before being paired with anyone, while the screen ironically keep saying "30 seconds for automatch". But that's all we have here on iOS, hope someday will improve. For sure, it's still a great thing for any casual multiplayer battle.
Maybe a good way to automatically win the Primordial Hydra Encounter is to choose the monored Krenko deck. Even at his basic card deckbuild it's quite easy to win, providing to have a decent starting hand (this is a golden rule for every Magic aggressive monored deck: to kill before being killed - possibly faster as thunder!). There plenty of initial goblin with haste and pumping inherent skills, some of them are required as meat shield, don't be shy and always opt for creature exchange when possible while attacking with more goblin than hydras on board. If for any reason you are short in creature for a final damage spike before any hydra reach 10/10 (=gets trample, you're mostly plain dead then), then it's time to restart match, probably you've started with a non optimally performing hand. I'm actually using this Encounter to help in unlock all of my Krenko's deck extra 30 cards. Require only a little attention in initial choices, by the way. Hope to have helped you.
I got an error when I initially tried it also. The strange thing is that when it actually works it prints out a page that just shows the same code that you entered. I don't really see the point. I could've just printed a screenshot from my iPad or written the code down myself. I'm going to turn in this weekend and get the card pack from a store.
Realize, unless I'm missing something, a win is a win in this game even if against an already defeated opponent, a re-run encounter, online match, or customized game. If an early version of a deck isn't ready for prime time against a tougher foe, just grind around with it in easier matches until you're ready for the big fight.
I'm wondering how many people are experiencing crashes with this game. I've been playing since the release date, but everytime I play a 4 player Planeswalker duel in the campaign, the app crashes. this isn't an occasional thing, it's every time. I've rebooted, restored - I even did a clean install (it was time for a fresh wipe anyhow, but this just gave me the initiative...) - but I'm still getting crashes on the app. it really looks like the crashes happen every time there's some fancy graphic effect, like the particle effects when the planes card changes. it's been _years_ since I played MTG, and I'm actually really enthusiastic about this app. I'm really considering paying for the full unlock, but not if the game keeps crashing. this is essentially a card game, so why do we need a bunch of eye candy if it causes crashes? I'm running a 1st gen ipad, and if iTunes lets me download and install the game on my device, then I fully expect it to work on my device without fail. hopefully this will be resolved in the next update, but we'll see if I can remain interested until then.
People complaining about the pace: It's slow on purpose because the AI has to run through a crap ton of scenarios to pick it's next move. I think they did a brilliant job hiding this. If they sped it up, they would have to drop loading screens on you or something...we all don't want that.
I rebooted and also turned off combat animations in the settings. This has helped the game run smoother and I have run through numerous 4 player Planeschase games without crashing.
