Reboot your iPad and after it's restarted go into settings and find the Tab that has a setting for combat animation. Make sure it is unchecked. Game should run better.
Except you were. As far back as page 4, at least. But I'm not going to dig in any further. The rest of what you quoted was more a generalized rant, not directed at anyone specifically. And as I said, I'm sorry for that. Let's get back to the game. Not claiming to be a pro, but when I used to play in locally I would typically keep my deck at 40 cards, religiously. I'd keep a sideboard (15 cards you can swap in to handle situations you don't normally have a counter for) and if I found myself in an tournament with a 60 card min I would add the sideboard to the deck with 5 extra lands. But otherwise, my sweet spot was 40. In any TCG, smaller deck = higher chance of drawing cards and combos you need. In Magic, it also helps with the flow of mana. Of course, with a smaller deck you run the risk of decking out. But honestly, that happened maybe three times in all my years, and the guys with 80 card decks won basically never. So I'll take the trade-off.
This one tip has helped me to begin getting to grips with the gameplay infinitely more than anything in the tutorial. Can't believe this isn't on by default.
AI team mate? Hi guys, Can someone tell me if you can team up with the AI to play 2 AI enemies, like you can in Magic 2012? Thanks in advance. Tray
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that Planechase is about as chaotic as the asteroid that hit the Yucatan peninsula 65,000,000 years ago?
Do you guys on the other ipads get better graphics? I'm using a first version one, and it's pretty grainy.
So to unlock all the cards for a deck I need to win any 30 games? Or do I need to beat every opponent in the campaign with the deck? I think the latter is virtually impossible since some decks are clearly not capable of beating everyone... Which would ultimately require IAP to complete. Also, are some decks only available through IAP rather than gameplay? If so, which are they and what are they like? Jamie
if you are are talking about the purple highlight it's the card selector, the blue highlight shows an instant/ability you can freeze time and play. The white highlight with a chevron is something I mentioned way back near the beginning but it's the Auto hint. While you can manually ask for a hint by tapping the question mark on your avatar the game will auto suggest what it feels is a good move if you take a while. In order to disable it you must disable hints as a whole. Pause>help&options>settings>hints
I'm assuming that you bought the unlock full game for 10 bucks(€7.99). If you did you have to defeat every opponent to unlock their deck. With each deck you unlock a card every time you win, wether that's beating an opponent,an encounter or an online match,as long as you win you'll get a card. You can opt to unlock the full deck for a dollar(€0.79) or even make 'm look shiny and sparkly for yet an extra dollar. This is optional and you won't be getting extra's that are not aquired by just playing(except the foil IAP wich is purely cosmetical) So decks are unlocked by defeating opponents where cards are unlocked by winning. No extra deck's or cards through IAP.
I believe you need to go to Wizards's website and enter the promo code; it'll then generate a page which you can print out and bring to a brick-and-mortar card shop to get your print promo card(s). I tried entering the code within the app and got the same message -- I think the code they're asking for there are promo codes for digital content (maybe to be used in the future?). When I went to the website, the code worked fine. Hope this helps!
I think what Spatzi is referring to is the card selector's seemingly random reoccurrence, even when it's not possible to play the card it's selecting. For example, it's your combat phase and suddenly a land in your hand becomes selected, without your having touched the screen. I know this happens to me all the time (and I'm playing on the highest difficulty, so there is no hint system) -- I have to keep tapping away from my hand to deselect it, as I find it distracting (and the selected card then blocks full view of my half of the board). Hopefully this behavior will be fixed in an update.
This does look like an actual bug. It is possible that this is caused by touches being propagated to the cards even if the touch was meant for something else (to dismiss a card, or to interact with a UI element) And for all the people that feel the pace of the game is too slow I imagine that the pacing of the game is a balancing act between the limit of how much data the AI can actually crunch and what feels natural to the player. This is a very simplified summary of what it is actually doing behind the scenes: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/44 And remember that it actually has to do this for every card you play as that can completely change the rules of the game and the counter strategy. This also explains why some people are seeing increased battery life usage and the device getting hotter than normal.
To unlock all 30 cards of each deck no extra iAP is needed. Provided you've bought the Premium Unlock (which grants full game access) you have many good options to speed up the unlock process. Encounters are a good example: some of them are really poor performing that's easy to get fast wins even with basic decks. Or you may arrange personalized matches with low-level AI and tweaking very important features like starting hand amount etc. This trick is well known since the first Duels of the Planeswalkers. Speaking about interface, I hope developers don't change anything, personally I've not experienced a single problem until now. Maybe what the game lacks is a tutorial for the options menu: many people may discover interesting things if they dig it properly. Game's a perfect rendering of true Magic matches.
I am not ok with using male terms to refer to the entire set of gamers. Gamers aren't just male. It ought to change.
