Just bought! I really rarely buy games on release, but Rocketcat Studios has never let me down on their games' qualities. Also, I noticed it says that the introductory price is 33% on release in the app description. Does that mean the price will jump up to 5.99$? o.o EDIT: never mind. The final price should be 2.99 as it's a 33% DISCOUNT on release.
Well, my thumbs are sore and my iPhone battery is dead- it really is a great game. It reminds me of a cross between Demon's Souls and Zelda in a lot of ways, Demon's Souls in particular because combat is so unforgiving to the ill-disciplined. You really are required to learn an enemy's attack pattern and wait for an opening to strike. It's not simply a button masher like Zenonia (not that it's a fair comparison as Mage Gauntlet exists on anotherr plane). Thankfully the combat seems fairly precise, so the game never feels unfair; more often than not if you die, it will be due to a mistake YOU made. I'm really enjoying my time playing it so far, the joy of collecting loot and matching different items together to facilitate different builds and play styles is exactly what drew me to RPGs all those years ago.
I lolled when I got an achievement saying "Theres gotta be something in them" After religiously breaking barrels.. Thanks for laughing at me like I'm dumb, Devs who choose the achievement names!! >:/
Actually, I'm interested to know this too. I'm due for a new phone in the next month or so and will have to transfer my game library over to my 4S. Will IAPs from the whole Rocketcat back-catalogue transfer over, provided I keep the same Apple ID?
Hahaha... we had to do it in the first game. Originally the achievement was going to be hidden and for something like 300 barrels, but I thought that was too mean.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I got this one too. Once the game started, I just kept bashing everything that was breakable to see if there was a hat or something in it.
After I met the wizard for the second time I went wandering a little and got stuck in a corner behind a bookcase. I couldn't move whatever I did - I even dashed and everything. Was I doing something wrong? I took a screenshot if it helps. I ended up going back to the map and started that section over again. I won't go near that corner again! I am loving the game and the story so far. It is like nothing on the platform at all. I did go around breaking everything I saw Zelda style and got rewarded with an achievement that was pretty funny. I guess there really isn't anything in those barrels! Anyway, starting that second section again but it's ok, I am really digging it so far!
Just finished playing through the first 3 "levels" in the castle. Wow! This is extremely well done! Congrats, guys. --DotComCTO
No, I'm pretty sure you'd lose the Fan Pack, because it's not really awarding you the IAP. We need to look into cloud saving stuff.
No way to completely read the achievements in GameCenter even when they are filly unlocked. I was hoping that I'd be able to read a few so that I could get them
Yeah, you can probably guess I tested the achievements in OpenFeint. Kind of infuriated right now that OF takes so much data space, preventing people from getting it over cellular. Will see what can be done about that... first update thing obviously, but we could post an achievements guide or something in the meantime.
Really enjoying this! Things I noticed: -Not really digging the music. I do think it requires more of a 'whimsical' vibe. But personal preference. - Having no ability to dash in all directions feels a bit weird. - A minimap would also be nice. Otherwise a pretty solid game! And some of the achievement names are cute
Game Impressions Just want to say the default "pro stick" controls are genius. I always slip off fixed controls and the floating control stick in some games was never much of an improvement. Pro stick, or swipe allows me to grip anywhere I like and I can even play the game like a DS title with a stylus or index finger. No risk of slipping out of the control zone, just responsive gaming. The placement of the menu button is a little awkward on the iPad2 if gripping the bottom of the device, as is cancelling a spell you have readied. I would have loved an in game glossary that detailed spell functions at least, but thats a lot of work for something a half hour of gameplay can render irrelevant. Love the insulting achievements, "No rupees here!". Lexi is a peach.
