Yes, I'm guessing you never checked the upcoming games thread about this game or played any of RocketCats other games. All of RocketCats games have IAP, I guess you have to play to know.
I haven't played Mage Gauntlet yet, so I can't speak to those specific IAPs but from the other games the IAP were always extras that you didn't need to play and enjoy the game. The previous IAPs were things like additional characters or costumes.
Very early impressions, only just played through some of the introduction/tutorial, but so far the game is simply a joy to play. If you're a fan of 2D Zelda, you might just feel a little choked up. No time to play more now but looking forward to getting into it good and proper tomorrow.
Any word on a Universal or iPad release? I glanced through the thread, but didn't see it mentioned. Edit: Nevermind! Found it! That'll teach me to not skip page 2.
The iAP comes in the form of a Black Market that is seeable only from the Wardrobe menu. You can buy some high power weapons that only really serve a purpose for Master Mode or if you want to power through the levels easier. You can also buy the Rocketcat pet but if you buy the game on the opening sale that is included.
Is it possible to buy the IAP in a pack or is it all separate items? Also, I recall reading something about a stat cap in the upcoming games thread. Does anyone remember the cap off hand?
It's really heavy on the action, with secret hunting and story bits interspersed as breaks in the action. When I said "Zelda" I was mostly just name-dropping, which I have to do by law. Still more like Zelda than any other game on the app store that has said "we're just like Zelda BUY THIS" You earn stars in the levels by not dying and by clearing the entire level of enemies in the same go. All the pets right now simply require a certain number of stars to unlock. The slime pet is a fairly early pet, too. No, not really. The sword's kind of nice if you're making a magic-stat heavy character, but it's not necessarily the best sword. The Phoenix Feather is comparable to the trinket that gives you 4 hearts total, which you get on the first map. We mostly put those items in there so we could afford to do a discount one last time, none are necessary.
No problem, obviously I haven't played MG yet as I'm waiting with you in the US, so I could be totally wrong. I'm just speaking from past experience with RocketCat games.
