Pretty sure I saw Kepa say in the upcoming thread that master mode increases the hat drop rate by a lot. Seems like the most reliable way to go. Don't think there's really anything you can do besides that.
I think the Seeker, Decadance, Alchemist, Augurer, and Artificer achievements are bugged. I'm pretty sure I've read all tablets/notes and I definetly have 3 stars for all those chapters.
Are Boss hats the only random drops or are there more random drop hats? I was kinda under the impression all hats were merit based rather than random chance. Is that incorrect? Is there a wiki or anything with all hats and drops etc.?
I don't think so considering that it's saved to GC the moment you earn it, so i don't think they can undo it.
The thing is, I unlocked Homewrecker (destroy 15 tents) and Eviction Notice (blow up a tent with a fireball) and then failed the level because I was trying to get the assassin one as well. Now I don't have those two in Game Center and I tried destroying more tents, and firing fireballs at them and they aren't unlocking. Bug, perhaps?
Those include 3 stars in the master mode versions of the levels too. (I know it's kind of hard to tell that since the achievement info is cut off, but you can see that it's starting to say that.) Don't know about the notes one. Also, about the hats: You get them in mini treasure chests randomly (not very often) after beating normal enemies. You can buy a hat, and/or the fan pack which includes a bunch of hats (early buyer bonus people get it free). Apparently you can have bosses drop hats; hasn't happened to me yet. Finally, you get awarded hats after levels on the level select screen after doing something; but not sure what exactly. (This could definitely be better explained by Kepa.)
Really like this game so far. Couple suggestions: Level length - I'm on the Tetramont part of the game, and it's such a pain to die. Usually after I die twice I quit the game for a while, not in anger, just general tiredness, because the idea of starting from the beginning is wearisome. Maybe 3 or 4 checkpoints would solve this? Spells - For a game centered around magic, you sure don't get to use it a lot. I rarely have a spell in my cache when I need it, which make handling hordes of enemies a lot tougher. Either another spell system needs to be used, or the amount of spell jars around needs to be increased. Hearts - I'd say at least, this game needs 1 more heart, maybe an increase in heart jars. What I would really love is a slow auto-health recharge. Enemies - A definite must for this game are enemy arrows - when you come upon a group of enemies you'll see these arrows pointing out their position. Too many times have I been ambushed, or an enemy blends in with scenery (although this has only happened with the Tetramont part, stupid brown golems). This would be really great with shooter enemies in particular, where the arrow could change color depending on weather their attacks are charging up, or not, etc. Help - Another thing, this game needs: A help menu! It would be great to have a sort of instructional section detailing what level stars mean, or an enemy dictionary (sort of like the Pokedex; detailing their attacks/behaviors). I often find myself wondering about certain aspects of the game, and having nowhere to look. Combat - Movement Dash should be impervious, it's a pain in hordes where I could run away from one attack and into the hands of another. Also her sword-chargy-dashy attack thing - it needs to be refined. While I'm using the attack button, I can't see the meter, so I might be relying upon my stun-dash attack-thingy and get nothing...then die. Blargh. Anyways, that's all I have in mind for now.
Just going to add more feedback. Have you considered a beastary that shows enemy level and exp count as well as health + brief description. Unlocked as you kill the enemy. Also I don't get exp from the slime boss glitch? My achievements didnt carry from OF to GC so I'm missing the first secret area found one as well as 9 others... I'm not too happy but whatever. Hopefully update adds nice ingame achievement system.
They probably weren't reported to Game Center. Just relaunch the game with wifi active and they should show up.
That's bad luck. You can still get the fan pack though, till Sunday ends. They're all random chance. Master Mode's Nightmare enemies (the dark ones with new attacks) have a much higher chance to drop hats, and they usually drop multiple hat types for that chapter. Further, some hats are linked to star rewards (you get them for getting a certain number of total stars) or achievements. Those are the hats that you're alerted you have by popup on the map screen. Wiki wouldn't be a bad idea. Seeker should be fine, will check. Decadence appears to be bugged. Not sure on the others. 3 stars in both story and master modes, right, including the boss levels? Are you using the lives system at all? You should be able to just get up after being "killed" a couple times per level. Or are they killing you three times, and you want an additional checkpoint besides the lives system? I wonder if we should just randomly have enemies be glowing ones, with a max of two of these per level or something. Maybe one. Just to easily do a general "more spells" thing. There's also the Gambler's cut, which basically gives you an extra two spells per level. Off-screen arrows is a pretty good idea, actually, but also a bigger feature. I notice a lot of people want better in-game documentation in general. More specific item descriptions and such. Is that the consensus? I'm mostly happy with the sword combat, and I can see the energy meter generally. Maybe I just have tiny thumbs. Not sure where I'd put the attack energy meter otherwise. In future games I think we'll just get rid of the lives system (some people find it CONFUSING mostly and never use it) but have more frequent checkpoints and replace the hearts system with a bigger health bar.
Kepa, I am half way ... More because of lack of time and my playing assuming one life than anything else, and I am playing on ipad2 ... And the game is fantastic. Considering the effort for making this universal and considering that it is not going to add much, at least for me, is it not better you guys focus on the sequel instead and make that one inversely from the beginning? And for MG just give s some extra tweaks and spin off adventures/dungeons.?
Question: Will you be adding an update to make it possible to view your achievements within the game with GameCenter? It's a hassle having to use the GC app itself to view them.
That "quick update" is taking so long after being submitted that we're probably going to have to take it down.
