Is it safe to leave the macbook plugged in all the time or when it's 100% let it drain? What do you guys do with your mac's?
I've never been able to confirm whether or not MacBooks use trickle charging, but most of the information I found said a good mix of both is best. You could leave it plugged in for a day, but I wouldn't keep it that way for months on end.
I use my macbook pro as basically a movable desktop; it's not uncommon for it to be plugged in for a week at a time, and I use it quite a lot. I know this isn't at all good for it, but I've had it for three years now, and I still get 2-4 hours out of the battery, depending on what I'm doing with it.
I recharge my MBP multiple times a day [according to my Widget, 562 charge cycles have been made ] When it gets down to around 20%, I'll plug it in, let it charge all the way, unplug it, repeat. There's been a few times where I left it plugged in overnight, but I try not to do that.
Yeah, I leave it plugged in most of the time. Like Spork said, to me, it's a movable desktop. Not that my Macbook's battery life is really an issue to me, I don't really travel with it. It usually hits at least 3 hours, though.
I usually don't leave it plugged in. sometimes I'll just leave it plugged for a few hours, but I usually let it drain a bit then charge it back up. battery typically lasts 4-6 hours for me. if I leave it alone with the screen off I've had it last 12 hours but that doesn't really count
