And one could say the same thing about those installing Windows on their Macs for a litany of reasons.

Some people want to try new things, or fail to let go of old things.

While true, MS hasn't changed its stripes either. And, frankly, Apple's marketing was always quite a bit of con/illusion. Now they're pushing "magic" as seen with the iPad hype. :p

Besides which, in the '80s it went like this:

    Amiga > Mac >> Windows

Anyone who thinks differently didn't have an Amiga. Shame that Commodore's silly mismanagement brought them down.

That's no excuse. I could say "no one in their right mind would drink Coca Cola", it doesn't make it sound any less stupid considering how popular it is.

    pm me ill tell u
you could game on a macbook. i have the black macbook that was discontinued about a year and a half ago. to game just buy crossover for mac or get it some other way:rolleyes: and then you can play just about all games on steam at about 45-60 fps and thats all running on a 64mb integrated graphics card. the newer macbooks have a pretty good graphics card so you wouldn't even have to use crossover you can use parallels so you can run windows or even use bootcamp that comes with every mac and install windows and run games on windows then when ur done gaming u could restart the computer and switch to osx.

I don't want to run Windows on my Mac anyway. I get along with it perfectly fine, but the two should stay well away from each other.

Fail. Try playing Crysis, or maybe Empire: Total War

I wonder when people will stop touting Crysis as the be-all and end-all of PC gaming. I'm not even very fond of the game and wouldn't have bought it even if I'd chosen to go with a gaming PC instead.

It's used way too much as a scapegoat these days, because there aren't enough other examples to justify the points people are trying to make.

I don't know if integrated graphics core Macbooks can run them, but the discrete GPU Pros should, and the iMacs (best all-in-ones on the market) should have absolutely no issues running those games.

If I owned the Mac and didn't game, the only thing I'd be worried about is how new services won't work on the OS. Although a lot worse with Linux, once in a while I'll read comments about how Mac owners complain about how Netflix streaming didn't work on their PC when it was released or how Google Chrome didn't have an MAC version at launch. If something interesting and new for the internet gets released, I want to be the first to try them out!

Right Midian. I winder why all those people don't want to compare graphic playing The Witcher or Mass Effect which with all effects enabled look photo-realistic.
Crysis is pretty old now, there are several games that ovehelm it with graphic and gameplay quality, more in upcome.

Eh, I'm quite enjoying GTA 4. Plays flawlessly on my system and is addictive as crack!

It's just something you simply cannot do on macs.

But you can do on an XBOX 360... And I don't need to perpetually be buying $500 video cards to play XBOX 360 games.

Very true. I own two consoles that run GTAIV flawlessly, a third would make me look stupid :)

    Very true.

The PC game scene is very much now the realm of flash and/or online gaming. Streaming games, particularly stuff like hidden object games or stuff like the app games on Facebook and such are were the real money is made now in the PC gaming industry. The companies that used to primarily focus on the PC scene with "big, epic" titles now pretty much have PC as an afterthought if thought of at all. You know things have changed when Epic, BioWare, etc. all have 360 and/or PS3 as their primary platform targets.

    Sure you can.

    Windows partition.

But that's besides the point. Why play it on PC when you can play it on 360 for a lot less headache?

I´m going for the Macbook Pro, on which you can play most current and all older games just fine. My gaming behaviour supports my choice, as i´m mostly playing old games anyway. Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic 1/2, Gothic 1/2/3, Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Oblivion and so on. I should be able to run those via Bootcamp.

I´d love to play Dragon Age Origins though, so i hope the new MBP will have nuff horse power to run it. If not, what the heck, i´ll just play it after 2-3 years with upgraded hardware. :)

I have a unibody Mac Book pro and can run GTA IV without problems on it in bootcamp.

I have moved from console gaming into PC gaming due to moving overseas to work for a bit and am using my mac under bootcamp for this. I haven't had a single issue with any games released recently.

There are a few that could use some better optimisation such as Red Faction Guerilla and Bad Company 2 Beta but from what i hear even those with dedicated gaming PC's are having issues because the games are simply not optimised efficiently.

In an era where console is the primarly target for a game, most PC's can run them with no probs. yeah i have to turn off ambient occlusion sometimes but i genearlly run all my games full res and on high settings without a hitch.

If you like macs anyway and want the portability then a MBP is by far the best way to go as its an absolutely fantastic machine that is solidly built. I hammer mine daily for long periods of time with no probs what so ever. It does get pretty hot but its part of the unibody design. I live in Singapore currently so my ambeint room temp is pretty high anyway and not once has my laptop overheated.

I think a good PC is way better than a console.

I used to be a PC gamer, playing many MMO's and stuff, but then bought an Xbox360, because it was cheap and easy.

About 3 months ago I bought a new PC, seemed good but the GPU turned out to be very bad so I didn't used it for gaming. I downloaded the Crysis demo and I had low framerate (on very high and high 1080p).

3 days ago I bought a new GPU, with a free copy of Hawx. I also tried Crysis again and I was stunned, it had 30+ framrate on very high, AAx4. Now I decided to play more games on my PC.

    Specs:

    Intel Core i7 860
    Gigabyte P55
    1,5TB HDD
nVidia GeForce GT220(before I replaced it)
XFX Ati Radeon HD 5850(after I replaced it)

I love playing games on the PC, but it's more comfortable to play on an Xbox 360.

    Edit:
I think laptops suck. They get too hot and just cant keep up with a desktop. The best i7 processor you can get for a laptop is way more expensive than the i7 860 in my desktop, and much slower. Mobile GPU's are also slower and get very hot.

This was a key point of my reasoning in choosing a MacBook over a Windows based laptop. I've been using it on my lap, on my bed and on pillows for the past two weeks and it's never gone above 50 degrees (CPU temp) :)

...except while using Skype, which is understandable.
