Does anyone know if there are any plans for a TA-esque site put together by Arn and crew for the Mac App Store? Twould be awesome.
well then... I guess I've got balls on my chin. Thanks INSM, it's early and my searchin' fingers weren't quite warmed-up yet
Sweeeeet! Downloading now. Somewhat out of topic: I lose my 53d:9h:20m uptime. It stayed up for 53 days with 0 hiccups. I'm impressed!
I really hope games from steam move over to the mac store. I just feel happier/safer putting money through an apple based store. Fingers crossed some more non-casual games start popping up soon!
Don't have a mac myself and I don't ever see myself buying one but I think apples biggest success is the mobile app store they have really nailed convenience, shopping, patches and making money in one perfect swoop. I doubt this will be as successful or profitable but if they do it even half as well it's good news for people who do own a mac. As long as you can still get software from other sources I think it's a good idea.
I completely agree. I don't think this will be as successful as the mobile app store. But I do think it's a big step in the right direction for digital distribution for Mac computers. Something that no one else has (and probably never will have).
Two games from gameloft (Brain Challenge and Let's Golf 2). Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
So picking up Pages and Pixelmator. Farewell, text editor! I think the real reason this will succeed is because you can use iTunes money on this.
Picked up Chopper 2 because I was pretty excited to use my iPod as a controller and play on the big screen. Unfortunately, after MULTIPLE attempts, it just will not connect. So far, my Mac App Store experience hasn't been amazing
You dont see how much useful it is going to be for mac users in comparison to downloading apps from a bazillion different sources(including the one you linked)?
The one I linked to used to live in the menu where you will now find the App Store link. And no, I don't feel as though I need a one stop shopping solution for software. I don't buy from Steam either, if it can be avoided. The hassle of circumventing DRM outweighs any convenience associated with mass convergence.
Why would anyone want to circumvent DRM in the first place here? All of my iPad/iPod apps are DRM'd. Over 3000 of them. About 500 of them are paid too. DRM never bothered me so far. Not sure what exactly you're implying here.
I wasn't implying anything. Basically, if there is a DRM free alternative, I will choose that option. Can you suggest a reason I should be excited about the new Mac App Store? No.
