I've noticed something and I'm wondering if anyone else sees this. Today at work I had an update for app (umm... Chopper 2 - did I say work? and so when I got home I checked the Mac App Store, but instead of showing the update for Chopper 2, it showed me the update for Angry Birds, which I saw a few days ago at work, but also didn't see at home when I got home that day. What's weird is that if you go to the app listing in the Mac App Store it says that the update is out, but when I check my copy on my Mac it's the old version, yet the updates tab doesn't show this update as available. Is anyone else with more then one Mac, perhaps in different locations, seeing the same issue?
Often I have to refresh the updates a couple of times before it lets me download them to be honest I don't think itunes on windows is very good software. Sometimes it also says I have an update but when I check there isn't one. Just general weirdness with the updates in general I find although you usually do get them after refreshing the screen a few times.
iTunes works great for us on our Macs. Really have no issues with it. The Mac App Store is not working so well for updates. I guess it's just a hiccup that will get straightened out with time. I was wondering, though, if it was intentional - a way of spreading out the load on the servers. It's annoying, though, so hopefully it's not intentional. Also, I really don't get why Apple isn't allowing lite versions and demos to be on the Mac App Store. That is a big shortcoming. And then when a dev puts an http link in their app listing for where you can get a demo, you can't click the link, nor can you even copy it! You have to type it in the browser by hand. Very weird.
I hope updates aren't as pointless and frequent as they are on the iOS store. An Angry Birds update to make an error message easier to read? Ridiculous. I'll end up with 100+ updates waiting for me just as I have with my iPod.
Sounds like it could be a security update in disguise. It probably plugs that pesky piracy loophole and they didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
