There is only so far you can play the nostalgia card. Then it's just plain laziness or ineptitude. I'm a huge fan if the Lunar series. Played through the games years ago. I was really looking forward to this version but I just can't like it. I want to like it, but the port is SO poor that I just can't. Default iOS text boxes? Seriously? Terrible controls (as has been already mentioned) and if course the bar up top. Thankfully they have a cutscenes skip. But seriously the low quality of this port is turning me off from this version. These aren't minor issues. They are very big. They need to be addressed if the devs expect to have any kind of lasting appeal.
Not at all! I made and passed around some notes. But if you're curious... (1) the semi-transparent background and appearance of the faces in dialog are from the original. We toyed with changing it as you suggested, but that was not well received. (2) As for the battery life, we found a number of iPhone users /do/ care about a lot of this information. And if you don't, no worries -- we're adding an option to disable it.
Okay, last night while playing the frame rate completely died on me. First it started to slow real bad, then animation stopped completely, though the music continued to play. Disappointment is beginning to turn to anger over paying $7 for such a mess.
Does anyone know if this port uses the same script from Lunar Silver Star Harmony or if it uses a different translation?
Sorry you had that problem. I was having some stuttering issues, and force quitting the app and restarting it seemed to help. Can you tell me where you had the problem, and what device/OS version you were using? I will try to replicate the problem and then nall can try to fix it.
Had same problem in the weird woods after Luna sings. I saved and exited the app. Then opened again... Problem fixed it self. Also the app quit 1 time after ramus went after the attempt at the woods. Currently a 4.75 star rating seems right to me.
I had some similar problems also on my iPod Touch 4. It seemed to happen more after I tried tapping to move and the pathing didn't work out, so I got stuck. Closing the app and restarting seemed to fix it.
Thanks for the response. I'm on 3GS, and the issue started in the fog forest (right after your party leaves for good early on in the game), and then animation came to pretty much a complete halt after that one dude helps you defeat that horde of undead (or whatever they are). No clue if the game was able to save or not, as I had to simply quit out.
I love how litle nall says don't give up. Just wish Alex would say "yeah, I'm not quitting yet." or something. That could be on the next update. Side note: I have watched the opening movie like 18 times
I've bumped into some of the framerate/crashing issues on my iPod Touch 4 others are having (on the most recent update on iOS 5 if that matters, not updated to 6 yet). The frame rate got real bad for me once when I was first exploring Burg, after Luna sang away the fog and again really bad after you exit the woods post-Laike; and into the world map. By really bad I mean I'd begin to move with the stick and the game would basically hang and suddenly Alex would teleport and be somewhere else in the direction I was going. Closing the app and restarting always seems to fix this. I had a random crash once or twice, but these were nothing stand out. I did have one which I'll spoiler on the off-chance somebody new to the game is coming through here: Spoiler After beating the first proper boss, the game continually crashed for me during the boarding the boat scene. Right after the voiced part where Alex urges Luna to come with him, I'd get to the next little scene where Nall says something to Alex and then you regain control to explore the ship. Every time, after I'd click past Nall's text the game would crash. Went through that about seven times and it happened without fail. Ultimately, I turned off my Touch completely, then back on and trying that time it let me past that scene.
I've also had odd framerate issues and one crash(possibly would have had more if it wasn't instinctive of me to usually clear the app from multitasking when problems arise). Currently running iOS6 on my iPhone 4. The problem hasn't happened at particular scenes, moreso after I've left the app to check other things and come back a couple times. The music is always fine, sometimes touch to move is fully responsive, others not. The virtual joystick, however, becomes increasingly sluggish and unresponsive until using it results in a freeze frame until released and the sprite essentially teleports to the end location to catch up. The one time it crashed, touch to move was still working flawlessly despite the aforementioned problems so I figured I would finish what I was doing then restart but the app had other plans. I never have more than 3 apps in my multitasking bar when playing games, and generally I remove the non-games when I return.
So generally speaking, when you have this issue, you're using the virtual joystick for several seconds (or more) and the game continuously slows down while you do, but when you're not using the joystick, it's fine? Do I understand that correctly? I just want to make sure I have all the right information to pass along to everyone to see if we can replicate that.
That's kind of a cute idea. However, it'd probably be prohibitively expensive to get his voice actor in to record just that. Text-wise, it's not Harmony's translation, but a lot of the audio is from there.
Okay there is one thing guys absolutely have to do or I'm gonna be really mad.... You guys need to release the soundtrack on iTunes. I mean you guys did such a good job on the music, I would buy it indefinitely. If guys dont release the soundtrack I'll never beat the game cuz I will be stuck listening to the music at certain points because it's ssssoooooo good Okay the game has crashed a total of three times after nall says "Alex i don't know about but it's chilly, let's go below." when I'm on the pirate boat. I turned of my wifi and switched to portrait mode an game didn't crash
Using OS 5.1.1. Don't really want to update until they work out the kinks. And I wouldn't say the framerate issues are exclusive to the virtual pad in landscape. It also happens in portrait. But yes, I did restart my phone and try the game again. It, thankfully, brought me back to right after that battle, so I didn't lose any progress. Game seems to be running okay at the moment. I'll try and keep you abreast of the performance as I go.
