LucasArts announced on March 10, 2010, that a Special Edition of Monkey Island 2 would be released for the iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in the summer of 2010. The special edition will include updated graphics, a new musical score, new voice-overs, and an in-game hint system. Voices will also be enabled for the classic play mode if wanted. The remake was announced by Lucasarts during their annual Game Developers Conference party held at the Farimont hotel, where the creators of the adventures, Ron Gilbert, Tim Schaefer and Dave Grossman, were also invited. Anybody else EXCITED!?!?!?! Monkey Island is one of my favorite franchises, and to see the second one get a remake treatment is awesome! Also rumors are going around that Tales of Monkey Island(The most recent chapter of the franchise) are being brought to the Ipod/Iphone by TaleTell Games in original Chapter form(Five chapters!)! This is great news although I think I enjoyed Monkey Island 3 the best. It did have Gary Coleman after all. I'm sure that'll make its way along. Yeh THAT was a good one. I can definitely see it making its way to the iPhone/iPod Touch eventually.
I just don't see why it hasn't been done yet. A year between Monkey Island 1 and 2? They should speed it up a notch (or a couple).
TellTale Games have just released Sam and Max for the IPad. No details on whether we'll see it for the Iphone/Ipod Touch next. But this does look good for Tales of Monkey Island!
