Hey! I decided to find out if you could kill the king much like you can kill Lord British in Ultima, and you certainly can, as you can see in the screenshot. Also, by using Taratma(the mass-freeze spell) you can get into the treasure room, where you can get a bunch of items (regular potions, lockpicks, antidotes, etc) along with a few hundred gold. It's hard to escape with your loot, but is indeed possible. Moreover, you can return to the castle and the treasure will be replenished! However, though I have successfully ransacked Castle Shebastian, I haven't figured out how to get the Spoiler Dwarven Boots . I'm supposed to dig near the castle, but I'm not too sure on how to actually dig. Is there a shovel item? Where do I get it?
Hey Volmonas, You get the Spoiler boots as part of the story. So you can't just go to where they are and find them. In order to get them you should start by Spoiler talking to the princess in Castle Pynchon. That will lead you to them.
Killing the king an more... Here's the scoop.. Once you get enough experience that you get the toxxik spell.. Go into the castle and infect all the guards and the king with the toxxik spell... Then go into the side room to the left of the room where the king and his guards are... Usually another character is in there... Kill that character and head to the farthest right of that small room. Then just start moving up and down until the guards die.. 200 xp points and then the king dies 300 xp. Then go loot the rooms... I've got 40000 in cash and 100s of xp for experience ...
Ha ha, I did not know about this exploit. Just don't get too greedy -- someone told me that the gold rolls over back to 0 if you go past 99,999!
general feedback I've really enjoyed the game so far -- I enjoyed Ultima as a kid and this game brought me back in time! One thing to note is that the game drains the battery at lightening speed on the iPhone (5S in my case). I noted that someone on Android had a similar issue. The phone heats up quite a bit during game play as well. Maybe this has to do with the game keeping track of monsters even on other continents? I had a quite a bit of trouble with Odium until I found a hint here on the forums. I found it a bit too hard to start the game -- I quickly realized I'll need to focus on getting 64 GP as quickly as possible to buy food and get healed but from then on it actually gets a tad bit too easy (but that's better than too frustratingly hard). Have you considered creating a game builder (e.g. like Minecraft) for people to make their own levels?
Hey lex3001, I'm glad you are liking the game. I had not heard that about battery drainage -- the game uses GameMaker's YYC compiler which is supposedly native. That should have improved battery life, not worsened it, from the initial few versions. Other than that I am not sure there's much I can do to improve the battery situation. Yeah, Odium is a stinker! And the game is a little imbalanced as far as being too hard and then too easy. That was definitely something I struggled with, this being the first RPG-type game I've tried to make. It's funny, when I was in high school my friend and I made a map editor for Ultima III on the Apple II+. If Lowlander was a hugely popular game with a ton of players asking for something like that, I could see the need. But as it is I think it is just kind of a nice nostalgic throwback for people who remember the early Ultima games fondly.
Antipathy Dungeon In the Antipathy Dungeon, I can find the key but cannot figure out how/where to use it. Any clues or hints to be had. Thanks. BTW - Love the game
@jerrund Thanks -- In Antipathy Spoiler the doorway should be straightforward -- head to the right at the T intersection when you first walk into the dungeon. Just work your way around, there is a spot where the path widens to two spaces instead of one
It should be your day job, the game is awesome I cannot put it down and I feel like I've robbed you. The price was too low!
That's great news. I look forward to seeing it. You might consider opening up a thread in the upcoming game section. Post a few screenshots To help build a little hype.
This is great news. Yeah please start an upcoming thread, people could give ideas etc, you could post stuff which you're thinking of etc Would love sub quests, so if you meet a person on your travel and they want you to kill x goblins etc you can and get a reward for doing that etc
Feel like I'm missing something I've made it to Castle Charon, but I feel like I might have missed something along the way. In one of the towns, there was a mention of an archer who had been to the castle and in other places, talk of fire resistant armor, but I have been unable to find the archer or get any clues as to where the armor might be. Any hints about these?
@jerrund -- You need to visit the town of Shelter and talk to everyone there. It's on a little island on the southwest coast of the big desert.
Help: Royal Gardens in Castle Shebastian I was hoping to ask for some help I seem to have a made a lot of progress overall: I've reached level 23, I have a lot of gold, I have the boat, and I've completed many of the quests. But one thing seems to have me very stuck: getting into the Royal Gardens in Castle Shebastian. The only way I can see to get in is a locked date, but the lockpicks don't seem to work and none of my other keys work (Woe Gate, Stone, etc.) I think that may be keeping me from getting Dwarven boots and therefore totally blocking my progress. Thx
