Is there a specific folder that save game files are located in on Android? I need to restore my device and want to back up my Lowlander save game if possible.
Those are great additions and seems the right thing to do in this day and age. You'll just have to make it a bit harder game wise now. Easiest solution is make the main baddies badder. Good play balance decision if making quest log and map names. Will definetly like that as repeat gameplay. Good stuff. Start juicing up the follow up...how about being the bad guy/girl? Take on the King. Same world, same people, add a loony town, a black castle, a red castle, wicked wierd towers as sky gates, a broken bone, a shattered shard, a prison for bad things....add gambling, stealing, and a good dose of evil magic...
Hey Andy, that is possibly the hardest part of the game. You're in Odium, right? Spoiler There is a secret passage located along the top wall of the dungeon on the left hand side. You won't see it on the big screen but it appears on the mini-map. Look for it to know where to walk into the wall.
Ok, finally everything is in order. It's time to finish this thing one way or another. Update: Victory was mine! Woot! One question. I never did find out why the statues were missing there heads. Am I missing something?
@klink Congratulations! Re: heads no you didn't miss anything. She was just mean I guess. Maybe I will elaborate on it in an update...
Thanks, it was quite fun. The birdship was my favorite part. Reminded me of Hawk from Buck Rogers. I also like the dry humor not unlike my own.
I just got this email: So I replied and he wrote back I just thought it was funny that this guy has played to Level 35, farther than most people need to win, without knowing anything about the story. That guy is easy to please
It is good to keep the threads running....and I thought I was a grinder....it is best to give him a series of pics and let his iPhone or android translate. You might be able to give him a story as well that he can translate. That would be cool. Good stuff!
Still thinking about Lowlander 2...do you use 8 x 8 sprites or 16 x 16? How big of a change does this make?
This was a great run. I can only hope that the desire to continue is still strong. This is a AAA (5star) game with a lot of class. Nothing old about lowlanders production values or effort.....what is old is the cash grab that is called games these days...
Hey Gord, Sorry, I missed these last couple of posts. Usually I get an email when someone has posted. I actually used 11x11 sprites I started out with 16x16, but it was too close to the real Ultima. I wanted to make it lower res. But 8x8 would have been too hard to get the various figures. Theoretically that would be easy to change, but that is a big "theoretically".
For some strange reason this makes me think of the Steve Jobs interview about copying. Good artist copy's while great artist steal. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CW0DUg63lqU
Simple is good. Maybe 16x16 is the sweet spot. 11x11 does not quite get there I think. A balrog seemed and still does seem vastly powerful at 16x16 yet is still fairly simple. None of the critters I saw in Lowlander evokes that kind of terror or personal attachment. Maybe 11x11 can still work but the bells and whistles need to be in place. Still play it though so who knows....
I am trying to keep this thread alive. I may need some help in this effort though. At least a couple of threads a week will do. Is that asking to much? I ponder on how great the user interface was for this type of game that nobody even sees the value of it. Sell the UI to people for crying out loud! Good luck and still hoping....
