There's a lot good game going free lately( epoch, cut the rope, project 83113, swordigo) and now Lost winds,
I REALLY want to like this game... its very beautiful on the new iPad... but... The control is just horrible. its slow, buggy...and tedious.. This is a very beautiful game , but for kids maybe below 16 years old. It could have been a better game for adults, if they just tweak the control and the pace of the game....
i think that this is a great game. graphics are beautiful. controls took some getting used to, but once i got them it was all fine. kind of a mixture between nyxquest and paper monsters there. excellent platforming. would have been surprised to see this goes free but so many are going lately that nothing is new under the sun really
I really want to like this and I definitely hate to say this, but... This game is just so boring and I don't see anything good about it besides controls and graphics. I played it for 30 minutes and I still didn't know what was I even supposed to do... I think it's kind of like a slow-paced Swordigo, but yeah, just can't like it even though I try to. Bought it at first sale and got bored very soon especially, because of the poor controls, then after control update I got it again and still didn't find anything fun about it. Basically I'm trying to say that, it may not be for everyone. Give it a try since it's free, but I'm sure someone will agree with me too.
Are you sure it's Lostwinds? I do agree at first the controls were not so good (although the game was so AWESOME I got like 80% through even on ver. 1.0.0) But afterwards it was 5/5! You can change them to your liking in the options menu, and you found no scheme the suits you? This is a first my friend.. What made you so bored? The missions? The powerups? The stroy? I LOVED it! You payed a lot of games I can tell, what happened this time? My only issue is 75% percent retina on iPhone 4. EDIT: You guys inspired me, I want back to it and got the last statues (3 of them). The controls can be a bit tricky and the game controls froze once but it's in a much better shape then what we started with I now have 100% percent hooray for me!
Congrats to everybody who got it yesterday as it looks like it was just a 1 day promotion. It's a shame the developer didn't do a sale for LostWinds 2 as it would have been an excellent time to do one due to the publicity generated by the first one. Oh well...
I thought the point of the sale was to generate interest in the title and get more people hooked which will then increase sales of the sequel. Pretty similar to how telltale games periodically lets the 1st game in each of their titles go free for a while.
True, but with the way the AppStore is going we all know that it will eventually drop in price or go free (an example would be the fiasco of Project 83113) so why buy it at full price unless you're desperate to play it. I am also aware that there's a quite a few TA members who have so many top games to play that they're not in any hurry to pay full price even if it is a quality game.
I didn't expected it to wow me much as I'm more into 'endless runner' type games but boy this is such a gem of a game on app store. I've played 5-6 hrs in last 24-36 hrs & completed the game 100%. Gotta buy myself its sequel surely. Thumbs up
Did anyone notice they added the borders on the app icons but they aren't being shown in the AppStore. Those borders are hideous.
Just so everyone is aware, LostWinds 2 is tied directly to LostWinds 1, so you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not following up with the sequel, especially if you're paying nothing for LostWinds 1. LostWinds 2 is also an overall better game than the first. Change the controls to the virtual joystick as well. I found that the tap to move was cumbersome, but being able to go left to right with the joystick and swipe to jump worked very well together and made me feel more connected to the gameplay. Even though the game feels slow, stick with it and then get the sequel.
Another must-get. Fun metroidvania style platformer-puzzler, nice graphics, and good use of touchscreen control for the special powers. Got it the first time it went free, and happily bought Lostwinds 2 shortly after. I did experience occasional crashes on my old Touch w/ iOS 5.x, but really enjoyed the game in spite of that (I assume newer devices are more stable).
