We be stuck in the same exact place. Seems early in the game to have so much trouble, but that's the way it is. I hath Withered.
I feel sad it is so frustrating so early on...what a great game otherwise. Guess Devs are on holiday since I would like to hear if they are working on some kind of boost to that wind.
Bad control is very annoying so I will pass. It's a shame because it's a very good game otherwise.Oh well... Hope the dev will fix this control issue.

That is the frustrating part. The game is so beautiful and so fun it's frustrating that the controls are not up to par. The dev mentioned that in their tests, novice gamers preferred the one touch method. I would think that initially the one touch is appealing but I would venture a guess that these novices didn't finish the game in testing or at least didn't finish without help from someone guiding them. I would be very surprised if every tester they had finished the game and said the controls are perfect! If so, expand your testing pool. I did notice in the game credits a HUGE list of developers and artists and a teensy tiny list of qa testers. Edit: on a more positive note, congrats on the 4/5 star review. I don't mean to sound negative, I really do enjoy the game! I convinced 2 of my friends to pick it up and keep playing. And like I said earlier, it is the first iPhone game I completed that didn't bore me. I just wish the controls were on par with the rest of the quality of the game.
I hope the developers get word of the control problem and decided to fix it. Every thing I hear about this game is great except that. It seems like a easy fix too because of the way it slowed down in the original. It's the only reason I haven't got it yet though I must say if there isn't an update in the next couple weeks I will probably just get it and power through.
Help pls Read comments about wither falls. I am at the farthest west (left) shrine where you use the plant to get to the top, pull on the handle, jump down, and get the idol thing. Now what? I'm tired of jumping all over ledges to figure out my next move when it still says to find the shrine to the west of the falls. I also found the other shrine deal I guess which is in the dark cave. How the heck do I move on please? Control issues aside, the lack of any direction or even better hints is frustrating! Hoping someone may be able to give me an idea. I noticed another idol thing above a fire pit hanging on a wall, at the very top of the screen, but have no idea. I tried fanning the flames to try and burn the wood gate to my right without success too. Any advice mucho appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I've just finished the game and i have to say that i really enjoy it. The story and the art direction are excellent and the game overall is very sweet. The puzzles weren't so difficult but anyway i am not big fan of very difficult puzzles. As for the control issues ok there is space for improvements but i think that the major problem is the small iPhone screen. I have try this version on both iPhone and iPad and i find the controls a lot of easier on the big iPad's screen because you have a lot of space to make your moves and your draws. This game is born to played on an iPad and i find it even more accurate than the wii version because it is more easy to drawing lines on a glass surface than in the air. Maybe a solution for the iPhone users is that the developers can make a little bit shorter the paths you have to draw for every move or something like that. Anyway i really enjoy the game and i hope the sales going well so the devs will bring number 2 on ios...
If you're referring to the controls, yes, you can't read a comment or review about this game without them being mentioned. The controls are not smooth at all.
What gets me is that I actually watched the Wii YouTube video showing how to go right from the second idol to the tree platform and go go up and left to the next ledge. So I know what I have to do but seem to be incapable of doing it without falling. Being stuck in executing a correct move is a different kind of frustration from not being able to figure out what the next move should be. I guess if the controls aren't improved somehow in an update, I will have to give up.
Yes - sorry: we've been away from the office on our lengthy European holidays.. but have not been enjoying seeing the frustrations with both direction control and gusting. We have been working hard on this since we've been back and this should start to bear fruit soon, will keep you posted.
I finished the game not too long ago but I did have the game lock up on me a couple times during intense gusting. It was interesting because I couldn't press any buttons or tap anywhere but all the characters on the screen were still performing animations but wouldn't move left or right. I ended up having to do a hard restart both times it happened.
The gust definitely needs to have the same gust effects included in the wii version. The combat has lost a lot of its awesomeness because of this.
Wow! That's not good. Been waiting for the fixes for this game and the dev is aware of the issues now and seems like he wants to do that, which is good. Considering the frustrations everyone's having with it, I'm gonna wait before purchasing this and see how it goes from there...
Update: we're currently trialling a new build with some people who have been having problems and very kindly agreed to help us. It has a more forgiving gust, optional D-Pad & a few other more minor tweaks to some levels. There are a few people on the forums here who haven't responded to our direct message offering them to try it - please check your inbox if you havent recently
I have been testing out the update for the last few hours. I have to say it is fantastic. I literally blew past the area I was stuck and I am not having any trouble getting to ledges!! There are tons of options now for control. I was always a fan of the touch to move but there is a d pad as well. It is a great one too. Very responsive and accurate. But, I still like the touch to move control. The wind gusts have different force levels now - I am playing on the middle setting and that is how I am finally succeeding! There is another even more forgiving setting as well. Bottom line - if you enjoyed the controls before, then you still have those options. If you had trouble (oh oh me me me!!) there are so many differences now for you to pick and choose from! Brilliant work Frontier Dev! Thank you for listening and really REALLY responding to the needs of us troublesome gamers!
