It was perfect. Hodapp, I think the show was already about science vs. Faith. To all the people who say it was rushed. The creators left it open-ended for a reason, interpretation. IKnow, the island was real and the sideways was a place created to find themselves in death. I would like to know all about the Dharma stations and the expierements but that was not the story told in the main story. I must have cried for the last 1:30 of it. And how would you have liked the light to be explained scientifically. How about the Smoke Monster? The show was never just science or faith, it was a blend. The show would have become tiring with just answers for an entire season. Besides, the show was not rushed, they knew how long they had. LOST is the best piece of American( maybe even global) television ever. My friend actually wears Dharma suits out in public. They are embroidered and everything. Losties are the new Trekkies. I really hope there is a special to explain all the Dharma stations and their expierements. I would also like a map of the Island that shows all locale and station positions.

The survivors actually have been living on the island.

Jack rescues the island and then he dies.

He wanders into and inside a "deathworld" ("flash-sideways"-world) and meets the others; they are all dead, because everyone has to die someday - and Jack after reaching "Deathworld" is not bound to time anymore. The scottish guy died for a short time while an experiment was forced on him; so he became aware of both worlds existence (realworld and deathworld) and aware of the situation.

Actually. It is not a "Deathworld" IMO because the place was created by them for when they died so they could meet up to move on. They then "move on" or "leave" to the "destination".

BTW, WHO THINKS THAT WAS THE AJIRA PLANE CRASH AT THE END??

To me it is not important what it is called. Religious humpty bumpty it is anyways, to me. Limbo, maybe.
No it is not Ajira-crash. Would be just a useless gimmick. Only negative impact without any real use. Useless complication.

I've a lot of major problems with the finale and this season as a whole. There were a lot of story elements from the series left dangling while this finale only served to resolve stuff only brought up this season.

Also the "it's about the characters" copout, sorry but Lost without the interesting setting and mythology is just a decent soap opera. You can effectively sum up the characters on the show in a couple keywords apiece, what made us coming back was the circumstances that character had to deal with, so it's damn important those circumstances were dealt with tidily, and that clearly didn't happen. Having al the characters hug and cry at the end ala BSG doesn't help that.

But before I get into all that, I will say the final scene was well done. :)

I thought the ending was good but not great. I think you'll find sentiments are half and half on how good the ending really was. I still think the best way to experience the show is to buy all the dvds, lock yourself away in a cabin for a few days, and watch them.

Reposting from many of my Twitter LOST rants... can we assume the love/hate regarding the series finale still boils down to:

    - People of Faith: those who saw the show through the characters and not for the SciFi stuff, OR
    - People of Science: those who liked the show for it's SciFi stuff and are now mad for NOTHING was even explained.

If the show ever taught Jack one thing: it was to let go of his old science-y stuff. You see this broken man wanting to know the answers to everything and didn't ever have faith. You see him turnaround until his death to become the VERY man he loathed (Locke pre MIB). Rewatch the scene where Jack says: you're not Locke... Locke is right... I should have listened to him.

Taking this into account, I still believe the writers really did know where they were heading.

Point being: like Jack, people of science need to drop it and let go, move on...

Thank you! And to rub it in more... I would have to assume the people (not necessarily you) who are still "people of science" are the same people that HATED Jack's version pre-redemption. What they don't understand is that they are EXACTLY the person they hated on the show. :D

Well i think your right in making your point, and yes the island was about having faith and going with your heart, I just want to know how the damn donkey wheel was completed?!?!?! There was just too many "BIG" things they left out. While it doesn't detract from the series and I still liked the ending I'm just still not fully satisfied, but at least your logical thinking has helped me see it from a different view...;)

The fact that they had to explain it all the way out like that and also the fact that ABC put the scene of the 815 wreckage and not the producers goes to show it (The finale) was not executed very well IMO... Seriously I would have been happier if they ended it like this

Instead of the route they did...

lulz can't believe I didn't comment in this thread when it ended.
First off unanswered questions. Sure there are some, but most can be explained with a little guesswork, not that any of the truly unanswered questions were that major. To take some examples from the CollegeHumor video:
Why did Smokey kill the Pilot? - It was supposed to be Frank, it wasn't, Smokey got mad. Or just to scare the crap out of the Losties.
What did Locke see when he first saw the Smoke? - Whatever it wanted him to see.
Why did the Others want WAAAALLLLTTTT? - Because he's 'special', to experiment on him. I do accept Walt wasn't tied up at all. He was just ditched from the show. That stuff happens, like Eko not being in the finale cause the actor is a douche.
Who sent Kate the letter informing her of her mother's cancer? - Jacob
Why does Smokey make mechanical sounds? - Why the hell not? What other sound is a monster made of smoke supposed to make?
The supply drop - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PPCCcXarkc&feature=player_embedded (also includes other info about the continuing actions of the Hanso Foundation)
Why didn't the Smoke Monster kill Eko straight away? - He hadn't redeemed himself yet. Before he is killed, Smokey appears as Yemi and tells him to ask for forgiveness. Eko says he has nothing to be forgiven for. He is the killed shortly after.
The Outrigger shooting incident - Probably the unanswered question I hate the most, as they had a perfect opportunity to tie it up in the final, but didn't. Can't answer that one except for it's someone in the future who we never see, or some random Dharma folks no one cares about.
Who finished the donkey wheel? - Does it really matter? It could have been MiB, it could have been the next bunch of people to come to the Island, probably both IMO. There was a bucket load of time in-between MiB starting to build it, and when we see it in use. It could have been any point between then. Did we really need to see some one off character come on and go "Oh hey dude, you know the Donkey Wheel? I totally finished it! Turns out the water freezes around it too, pretty freaky huh"
Why weren't characters x,y,z at the church? - Problems with the actors in RL.

Yea I'm a huge Lost geek. I liked the ending, they didn't dumb it down and throw all the answers in your face. They left a bunch of mysteries for you to solve, which is what people were supposed to like about the show.
Happy to try to answer anymore questions you'd like to throw at me, regarding the show of course.
