I actually didn't think the finale was all that great The show kind of changed halfway throughout the season and I was more of a fan of the old school Lost (before all the Jacob nonsense). I will say that the last scene in the show was brilliant because it can be looked at in 2 different ways
such an amazing ending. only series finale I've ever seen actually. still it was a great way to end, nothing like a lame, cliffhanger ending that all those who make fun of the show said it would be. but I still don't know how Ilana ended up at the hospital
Loved it. I teared up after every memory moment. But it explained absolutely nothing about the Island xD Not that I care.
I liked it, but a bit disappointed that DHARMA, MIB, Jacob, all that stuff that has come up that we thought would play a major part pretty much went down the shit$@r.
Lost went down the shitter when hope was lost that they would explain anything in a scientific manner and instead jumped in the wacky faith rabbit hole. Not sure what I was expecting.
It was good but not great, and a series like lost deserved to have a GREAT ending which IMO it didn't... I do like the way they tied up the alterverse being purgatory and all, but seriously way to leave loose ends all over the place... Like really we couldn't see what happened to the plane after it left?! Or how Ben and Hurley ran the island, and who got to take over after them?! How Desmond KNEW about the alterverse and the future yet continued to let jack die etc... Nothing explaining the Egyptian influence on the island and Jacobs crazy mom... The main issue is people were leaving the show and the writers decided to end it a season later... I think if they were to give one more season they could have finished properly instead of rushing through everything... This season only was meant to explain one thing, the alterverse. So that being said it was great to see everyone back together and making the final leg of their journey together and I really get what they were building up to all along, but still too many open ended questions to have one of the greatest shows ever made end this way... Count this lost fan slightly disappointed...
Well if you watched the lame recap thing that was on before the episode, it seemed like the producers were really trying to play up the fact that the character relationships are the heart of Lost. That's fine, I suppose, if you're watching the show as a soap opera of sorts... But what always interested me about the show was all the crazy science experiments, the Dharma installations, and all the other shit they didn't feel the need to explain at all.
The thing I do is to never watch series on TV, especially when they last many years. That way, I don't hate the ending!
I didn't mind the ending, I thought it was good the way they finished off the story. Some very emotional parts. Tried to catch up on all the lost episodes before the finale but couldn't make it past season 3... no more time.
to all you NEGATIVE critics and don't get me wrong, you're all untitled to your opinion, but I have YET to see one person that said the ending sucked, write a better one. Feel free to write a better ending and I'll promise you that I'll be watching when YOUR pilot airs on ABC. So far it's been easier for people to say it sucked *wink, wink* (they really didn't understand it) then to really think about what they saw and relate to their own lives and the people they are connected with. I'm surprised how many people have a Black and White mentality when it comes to this show. Do a little thinking for yourself, don't be a robot that has to have everything explained and spoon fed to you.
Actually the ending was good, it tied up the alterverse just fine, but like Hodapp explained and I agree with, that was not what the show was about... And CC and DL both were making it seem like this is what the show has been about all along (the relationships to each other)... I disagree, the show was about the island, dharma, time travel and now living in the after life... They only tied up one of those loose ends and that was the after life part, which wasn't even introduced until the final season anyways... So it has nothing to do with not comprehending anything it's wanting more answers that I knew weren't going to come... Seriously it's just lines of chalk on a wall, the job is yours... Ok so that's how they explain why they were brought there and so important?! Something still doesn't sit right with me and I still say it was rushed and failed to answer a lot of questions... I have been a HUGE fan since the pilot, and was expecting something with them being dead, but really you mean to tell me that as a true lost fan your now complete? Well I'm not, I have a TON of questions which will never get answered!... Like.. Who finished making the donkey wheel? Why does jack have a son in his death dream? Who built the temple and the rest of the Egyptian style artifacts? How did the others actually operate? why was widmore originally cast off the island? how did Dharma know about the numbers? (I played the ARG and know about the Valenzetti equation, but they never explain how the numbers being entered onto a computer every 108 min. prevents build up of electromagnetic charge) Why didn't Dharma ever come back to the island? Seems like a lot of wasted work for nothing? what happens to the people who leave the island the final scene? who did Hurley and ben pass the job of protector too? was there anything to protect the island FROM after MIB dies? Why does desmond know everything that's going to happen future and past, including setting up the entire afterlife meet ups? THE FREAKING RULES?! What about them? We know nothing! and this is just a very tiny small amount of questions I expected answers to... So if your truly a lost fan and don't care about any of these and are perfectly happy the way it's ended then I am confused because I think they should have answered WAY WAY WAY MORE! Hopefully the DVD boxset will have some really good extra features and maybe shed some light on some of these, and then there's always comi-con 2010, where I'm sure the producers are going to get hammered with questions!
I respect your view on things, but you seem to like a different aspect of the show and that's fine. You like the more sci-fi, time travel stuff and I find that all interesting too, but I DO believe the writers had the idea that this all came down to freewill from the beginning. Proving that there were still a few good people out there willing to sacrifice their lives for each other and that's what this show was about. I think it was brilliant to build the story around the Dharma and time travel in order to end up the way it did. If you listened to what the man in black says to Jacob, man comes, he kills, he corrupts it all ends the same. People were brought to this island for thousands of years. Jacob was trying to find a way to prove that man can be good without being manipulated and with each new iteration of people coming to the island, each generation got a little closer to his goal. The Oceanic 6 passed his test and succeeded in proving his theory. So things like the temple were built by some other group however long ago, it really doesn't matter. Just like the Dharma people, we saw enough to get the idea.
Ok, I'll be honest, I never really did get into Lost. I remember seeing a few episodes of the first series but that was it. However, I may be wrong here so forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject, but I seem to remember the first series teasing something about a possible beast/monster on the island. Am I just getting myself mixed up with something else and if not, did they ever reveal what it was?
The Smoke Monster, and that is one of the biggest plot points that has been going throughout the entire series.
I've followed it for 6 years and I felt a real contentment while watching the ending. A beautiful ending to a fantastic and unforgettable TV show. R.I.P LOST.
So...I didn't watch it but much but....were they really on an island, dreaming, in limbo? Quick overview if possible?
