Ofcourse we want to develop solutions to make hardcore feel good as well as midcore players. But at this moment we are facing some problems: only ultra-hardcore players remain in our game. It happened due to the fact that we have a wall: 1. First levels constructed from the complicated gameplay situations 2. Players must achieve medals to progress through the game Second paragraph is very important. We have relied on the medals but did not concedered that only 10% truly enjoy to collect them. And here are current solutions: 1. Reworking some parts of the first levels 2. Rebalancing game progress bar: stars will be more important 3. Plus one extra life (4 intead of 3 at the start of the game)
Ok, a few more tips for the "don't pick up more than 2 coins in level 1-4" quest. Spoiler I took the low path wherever possible. I used the Serpent main weapon, because it shoots straight, which allows you to control what you're shooting at. You need to avoid shooting boxes because those can yield coins. Near the beginning, right after you've passed under the cable, an enemy will come at you running on top of boxes. I took it out without hitting the boxes by jumping, and then shooting as I'm falling so my shot goes just above the boxes. Shortly after, there's another enemy running on boxes. For this one, if you just wait until he gets close to you, he'll fall through the boxes and you can take him out with a single shot without hitting any boxes. For the first trampoline which takes you up over the cliff, you can avoid getting the coins at the top by hitting dash while in the air before you get to the coins. For the second trampoline, jump over it and take the low path. I don't think there were any other especially tricky parts. Just try to avoid shooting boxes.
Yeah, I figured I had to avoid boxes. I haven't tried that level in a few days. I think I have more of a problem later in the level. Probably just not dashing at the right spot/time.
This is a welcome change. Even though I like the game I don't have the time/focus to play every level to perfection just to be able to progress through the game. I'm sure that a lot of players are turned off by the difficulty and emphasis on perfecting the levels.
Buttons customization In case you've mised it (since it's on previous page) We are adding buttons customization!
Looks great. And even if I have already completed the game, I'm really appreciating the dev commitment to make their awesome game even better and more approachable and I welcome a less hardcore mode (which I really enjoyed) if this means more people enjoying the game and letting the dev do more stuff like this. Can't wait for next update myself!!!
There is a possibility of releasing to Apple TV 4, since it meets our system requirements. We have several concerns about it though. Apple TV 4 doesn't look like something very popular and there is not so much statistics about Apple TV's audience and ammount of devices, while porting to Appletv4 will take some time. And the strict rule of adopting Lost Socks to Siri Remote is also a great disadvantage. And currently we are prepearing our big update for IOS.
I have no actual data, but it seems to me you'd currently be a big fish in a small pond if you did Apple TV now. There are only a few fantastic games on it (and this would be one more!) and it's really a joy to play on (I mostly use a controller, not the remote). So far for me, both Unity and SpriteKit are fairly easy to port over. Having said that, it really is kind of scary to put all that work into and not know what kind of return you'll get.
I am glad to hear this! Myself, and countless other people, will be purchasing this game once the difficulty curve is mellowed out a bit.. Thanks for keeping us in the loop on things.. Not to mention, the retention rate of current player-base will also increase, which will help maintain community as well..
Yes, these are pretty much my thoughts as well. But we don't use Unity or SpriteKit. We have our own c++ engine
Downwell was too hard for me. I never made it past the first world. In this game, I am in level 3-1 now and I did not find it too hard. I did die a lot of times, but I found finishing the levels was doable and I really love the game. My only complaint is the continue wall near the end of world 2, but even that was doable in the end, and the devs said they're going to change that. But of course, YMMV, and like I said, I did die A LOT of times. That's great to hear, thank you! I did finally unlock the Volcano and made it to 3-1. I'm not a hardcore player at all, but I guess I can be stubborn. I feel that the difficulty otherwise is fine (so far - still haven't finished 3-1 though). I found it hard, but not harder than many other games to just finish levels. It was just the continue "wall" that I thought was a shame. Even if you just removed the Fury perk (to speed things up a bit, by moving all the other unlocks one point up) and changed the order of "Fortune, Shadow Kingdom, Volcano" into "Volcano, Shadow Kingdom, Fortune" the game would become a lot less frustrating instantly, without taking anything away from players who like it just fine now.
This would be a kick ass game on ATV, as other people have mentioned there are only a few stand-out titles so far so you'd really stand out. Also adoption is only going to grow as time goes on...
