This game. Man my girlfriend will break up with me. Devs please stop making games. You are dangerous to peoples relationships.
I don't know about checkpoints, but yeah, an easy mode for losers like me would be nice. Still struggling in 1-8...
I have much respect for everyone opinions and imho Lost Socks is a GOTY contender but I do feel 'penalizing' a game because it is hardcore is a bit weird imho (I don't mind the final score). It's like penalizing sports games because they are not for everyone (I hate sports games for instance), or a pixel art game for the same reason. More so because while being really brutally difficult, I personally never found it to be frustrating by any means. I found much more frustrating, for example, Dust: Elysian Tail final boss, or Aquaria last boss. As for the difficulty...certainly the game could reach a broader more casual public providing an 'easy' setting. Checkpoints are a bad idea imho. Levels are short already (better: perfect length) and there are many branches where I can't see a checkpoint very well placed. To ease the game I would provide more hearts from the start in easy mode (like 5 and then 7), more frequent hearts dropped by enemies and less resilient enemies. Ideally patterns and enemies quantity should vary, but it would be too much of an effort and in the end, a different game (with different balancing etc...). So imho making things easier for the player while retaining the 'difficulty' and balance as it is could be a viable idea. Another thing that would make the game much easier is being able to spend (in game) money to buy 'steps' toward the unlocks, instead of HAVING to get better at the game playing and get the stars/cages. If one dies a lot, it will soon sit on a heap of money anyway...so using them to get a new weapon makes sense. That said....I urge everyone to stick to the game as it is. I'm not an hardcore player or better than anyone else, but I was able to complete the game nonetheless, enjoying every minute of it. If you can't 3 star a level...just play on!!!! You will eventually unlock other stars and weapons...then get back to previous unstarred levels and try...you will manage it! I went back and forth constantly, and I was able to beat the final boss in 10 days or so. And I had a lot of fun, things are never repetitive because going for 3 stars or the crown is MUCH different than just completing the level the first time, believe me!!!! Just my 2 cents.
MFI support I know i have already asked, but I haven't realy got an answer. How is it normaly shown in a game that a controller is supported? Or you just read description/try connecting the controller?
Lost Socks is like an autorunner mash-up between Metal Slug and Rayman. It's awesome, thank you very much for going premium and against IAP. But it's really, really hard. I'm only at level 1-6 so far and the game is unforgiving. This game would be amazing on Apple TV with MFi controller support. So far, a GOTY contender for me.
If you mean in the AppStore, I may be wrong but as far as know there isn't a special icon/way to know. You have to read the description. IMHO Apple should have an icon for iCloud support, MiFi support and Gamecenter support near the icon. Right now they just have the GC icon but it's in the support part of the AppStore description.
That's a brilliant idea -- an easy mode in which the only difference is an increased number of hearts (say, 5). Checkpoints make absolutely no sense, the way the levels are designed, I agree. Personally, I love the game the way it is -- old school brutality. All that's missing imho is an MFi mode.
I second, or rather third, the point about checkpoints - the levels are the right length as it is. More hearts in an easy mode is a much better compromise. Although that won't help me get those b***ard crowns...
Yeah, checkpoints or a probably wouldn't make much sense in this game. I like Pitta's idea of an easy mode with more hearts and more drops of hearts from enemies.
Holy, congrats! I'm still missing 6 crowns and 4 stars. For most games i'm not a completer at all, but here i have an itchy proud to achieve them all. No comment on a single person's subjective point of view doing a review. *bites his tongue*
Pitta was the second one to SLAY THE BOSS! And he is our HERO who defends us all over the internet! Please take our great RESPECT and this picture! https://flic.kr/p/E7S1HM
The eight level must be one of the toughest I've ever played; I tried for hours and only with luck I managed to pass it. I haven't won any stars on it and I hope it won't matter later in the game because I don't think I'll ever try it again
Perfection GOTY. Pure and simple. As far as I can tell, TA rated it a 4-star for being .. too hardcore? Love it, it's perfect. Seriously I wouldn't change a thing. Well, except I would like to see the hidden state of the main menu saved to user default so I could hide it once and then have it stay hidden between launches (looks better). Do you see what I'm picking on here? A meta menu feature, cause that is how great this game is. I rest my case.
I think the solution then is to not review games that our community are going super crazy for, as in the end they don't want an honest review but would rather just have their own feelings parroted back to them.
Nope, I mean in the game. Obviously we will add it in the description. But when you have already bought and launched the game, how do you know if it supports controller? I haven't seen any commonplace icons. And even Bastion that gives user a tip to turn the volume on, doesn't say a thing about controller support, at least i haven't seen it.
Ah! I see! You could always add a splash screen like the ones 'Headphones recommended' with 'MiFi controller supported' or something like that. Or a menu icon to pair the controller, visible in the main screen.
Usually if I have a game that updates to support controllers I'll find out by reading the update notes or it'll get features on something like AfterPad or one of the MFi twitter accounts I follow... I can't wait for MFi support... I pretty much don't play games any other way since getting my gamevice!
