The new iPad Pro's (11" and 13") have slightly different screen resolutions that I need to account for in the game code. I'll have this issue fixed in the next update.
Lost Portal has a lot of very powerful cards that I love to play with. I could make a list of cards I consider to be overpowered, but I don't think nerfing fun, overpowered cards is the way to go in a PvE game (just ask Arrowhead how that went for them with Helldivers 2). Instead, I'd like to ask for buffs for cards with really cool designs which are a little too weak to effectively realize their fantasy. Today, I'll make the case for Nameless Horror. This guy is the little brother of King of Beasts, but doesn't work nearly as well. The cards it synergizes well with (Fallen Lord) are too weak, and the few high-end Undead units largely don't synergize with Nameless Horror. The unit is too slow: it costs a lot of mana and doesn't even do anything until the start of your next turn. On that next turn, it summons a 1|1 Skeleton, and on the next turn after that, it starts buffing it with +1|+1; the effect ramps up too slowly for it to represent a real threat, so the ability ends up being a minor consideration on a well-statted unit. Buff suggestions: A. Make the buff trigger after summoning the skeleton, AND make the buff bigger, like +2|+1. Nameless Horror stats reduced to 5|7. B. Remove the health buff (+1|+0 then summon skeleton), but change the trigger condition. You could make the effect trigger on Spell cast, like Lightning Elemental, or on Card to enemy discard, like Death Golem. Nameless Horror stats reduced to 7|4. C. Add more synergistic Undead cards. Rot Walker could easily count as an Undead and would have good synergy, for instance. I'll try to come up with other buff ideas for fun cards that need a little help.
Today, I'll write about Storm Funnel. It's a cool idea because it promises a different way to win than the default "bash your opponent with units" game plan. Other burn win conditions have emerged as expansions have been added, such as Fire Giant + Reflecting Scepter + Ice Breath, or Endless Stalker + Shard of Ages, but Storm Funnel is the OG burn card. The problem is, Storm Funnel was never good, not even when the base health was 20- now it is 30, and Storm Funnel is one of the very worst cards in the game. The dream is doing 10 player damage for a single card, but you need 10 red aeons for that (can't use Aeon Exchange) and the nature of aeon gain is such that it's easy to get aeons spread out among 2+ colors, but hard to get a lot of aeons from the same color (except for green); in practice, Storm Funnel is mostly a worse version of Lava Blast or Ignite. I like the dream of 10 damage in a single card, so my buff proposal would be: Make Storm Funnel deal 10 damage to a creature or player for a fixed cost of 7 mana. Maybe add a pitch option to deal 4 damage to the enemy player for 3 mana, like a mini Ignite.
Glad to hear it Today, I'm writing about Cyclone. There's a lot of Destruction spells in Lost Portal, and many more cards that specifically interact with this spell type, which is great. Green destruction spells could use a little love, though. Now, I know that Destruction spells are the primary domain of Red and Black; I'm not asking for Cyclone to be as good as Ruin. The damage component of Cyclone is very weak, at 3 damage to all units for 4 mana, when compared to Rain of Fire or Ruin. And that's okay; Green isn't supposed to be great at direct damage. I like that Cyclone tries to compensate for its lackluster damage with a secondary effect, but the secondary effect could be cooler. So here's my buff proposal: "All creatures lose 3 life. An unopposed creature you control engages" (mana cost stays the same). Thematically, the cyclone kills a bunch of units, and blows an enemy unit away to another lane. This would typically be advantageous to the player casting Cyclone, because when all creatures are hurt, it's more likely that a surviving allied creature will manage to kill a surviving enemy creature. Could even make it so a random unopposed creature (ally or enemy) engages instead, for even more chaos.
Regarding Cyclone, you can't really compare a green uncommon with rares like Rain of Fire or Ruin. A more fair comparison would be other uncommon mass damage spells like Fire From Heaven (All creatures lose 4 life) and Engulfing Flames (All creatures and players lose 3 life. Creatures killed are vaporized. Draw a card.). Black and blue don't have any like it, but do have ones that damage all enemy creatures in Creeping Doom and Star Burst. In all cases, these uncommons are weaker than the rare cards, as they should be. That all said, I'm not against a minor change to Cyclone's secondary effect from gaining life. I'll think about it. I think a minor change to Storm Funnel would increase its power reasonably. By reducing its cost to 2, it makes it more cost effective at the low end (2 for 4 damage) and still scales up (ie, 4 for 6 damage, 6 for 8 damage, 8 for 10 damage). As an ultra-rare I certainly want it to be properly powered compared to other damage spells, so I'll play with it. As for Nameless Horror, in my opinion he is already a pretty strong ultra-rare, as his ability once it does get going can take over the whole board. I did make a few minor changes to him though and will see how it plays. For instance, I moved his ability to end of turn (so it will trigger at least once) and swapped the order so it creates a skeleton and then buffs all your undead. I also agree that Rot Walker should be an undead creature type.
Very cool to read. I'm definitely looking forward to any changes you may end up making to these cards
Just saw the terrible news about Touch Arcade shutting down. I don't know how long these forums will stay available, so I just created added a forum section to my website at http://lostportalccg.com/forums/ that we can give a try. If there are other, better alternatives out there I'm not against adding those as well.
It looks like you have to log into something on your portal to post, but I’m not sure what. “The new iPad Pro's (11" and 13") have slightly different screen resolutions that I need to account for in the game code. I'll have this issue fixed in the next update.” And I just swapped a new iPad Air for an iPad Pro 11” and boy does that need an update. Your cards are now above the enemy’s, numbers are askew, etc. Not quite intuitive. It must be a pain having to keep up with all the changes. You’d think the software you use for development would do that. I guess that would probably still need to be recompiled or whatever the appropriate term is for modern software.
It looks like you have to log into something on your portal to post, but I’m not sure what. I had to enable user registration on the website, so now you can register and post in the forum. The registration email went to spam on my test yahoo email so look for it there if it doesn't show up. “The new iPad Pro's (11" and 13") have slightly different screen resolutions... Yes, it is completely messed up for those iPads and also for the new iPhones as well. I am going to rush to get this fixed asap before too many folks hit this issue. It must be a pain having to keep up with all the changes. You’d think the software you use for development would do that. I guess that would probably still need to be recompiled or whatever the appropriate term is for modern software Indeed it is a pain as they slightly change the screen resolution by a few pixels. I have a lot of code I have to manually tweak to place everything in the right spots; not too difficult but time consuming to go through every screen and make sure it all looks good. Again, I'll get on this as soon as I can and try to get an update out.
I just got update 1.4.8 through Apple's review process and released it. It includes fixes for the newer devices and some other minor changes. Please let me know if you have any issues. The expansion is not included in this update, but assuming no issues with this change, I'll get back to trying to wrap it up soon.
The update is available and it looks good. Looks huge on the iPad after playing on my old iPhone lately.
I posted this on your lostportalccg.com forum but no response. The Wearbeast Infection capability is not working. At least not on the IPhone 16. This is with the latest update. I hadn’t posted here since we don’t know how long it will be available but it also looks like no one else has moved over to your forums.
