4.5 stars overall rating, 44 thread pages and 440 positive comments......how much more does TA need to review this game? Criminal.
awhile ago lord foul asked about card ideas, I think there are plenty of cards in the game but one area that I think is unexplored are cards that let you shuffle discarded cards back into your deck. Like gaia's blessing in magic. As well as cards that mill your opponent's deck or your own.
@Armadi - Yes, I think returning cards from discard pile to your deck and milling cards (deck to discard pile) would both be pretty easy to implement. I'll add those to the future card idea list and see if I can work them in at some point. Thanks for the suggestions!
I am currently playing the blue deck. While it was a bit annoying to begin with having no heavy hitters, the deck turned out awesome, based on replication: Torel trackers, replicants and staff of replication. Add plenty of mana cards and draw cards and start replicating. The replicant with the tracker is a creature maker. Keep making until you just flood the board or run out of mana. Lord foul, I can't tell you how much I love this game. You did one hell of an awesome job here and I admire you for listening to the community.
@Tikanderoga - thanks, that means a lot! I love those combos too. I'm a long time MTG player (since Revised/3rd edition), so definitely some inspiration taken from my experiences collecting and playing with my friends over the years. When I got my first iPod Touch, then iPhone, and started playing games like Orions, Spectromancer and Sword & Poker, it became clear what kind of game I wanted to build.
I've tried many different CCG's from the App Store and have had trouble with most. I love the art on the cards. It must have taken awhile to do. Anyways I would love to try your game and give it a shot. From reading the thread a lot of people like it. If you have any more codes I would love one. I will def leave a review.
Not at all. CCG's are rarely newb-unfriendly, and this is not one of those. A couple of games and you'll have it down, and from there it'll be just discovering new cards and their mechanics.
Yes, the game did take a long time to complete. The card artwork was done by a number of amazing artists. A lot of the other artwork (most enemies, town/dungeon backgrounds, dungeon tiles, abilities icons, etc.) were all down by Marc Whisnant, who was great to work with and does an incredible job. If sales ever support an expansion, he'll be the first person I contact to get working on more artwork. I PM'd you a code.
I just PM'd you my last promo code, so give the game a try and come back and give your impressions! You should start on EASY difficulty and read through the manual and info on the Website. You can also ask questions here and get a fairly prompt response.
Thanks again for the code! I started the game on Extreme and pitifully lost my first battle. It was so close! Some quick feedback: 1. Some texts seem too small. It's understandable for manuals to use small letters, but some others can use bigger fonts imho, such as the texts during the character creation. In fact, I think the portraits are also too small at the portrait selection screen. 2. The tapping and dragging sometimes don't feel right. Sorry I'm not sure how to express this. When I try to press the Next turn/Pass button, the portrait will be unintentionally enlarged. It seems to me that I have to tap a bit lower from the portrait. And when I drag a card, sometimes the card doesn't follow as far as my fingertip goes, and thus I can't put it where I want successfully. So much for now, hope they help.
@Makoto - what device are you using? I do the majority of my testing on an iPhone 6 so I'm curious if you are using something bigger or smaller (or the same). In the next update, I'm going to modify the player portrait so that you have to double press it to open it which will remove the chance of accidentally pressing it instead of the arrow button, as they are pretty close to each other on the screen. I have not experienced the issue you describe around dragging cards.
Yeah, now I think about it, it can be device-dependant issue. I'm running iOS 8.3 on an iPad 2. It's quite difficult to place cards sometimes, even if they do follow my finger. When I drag them to the discard pile and let go, they just return to my hand.
@Makoto - I just experimented on the iPad Air 2 (9.3), iPad 2 (9.3) and iPad Mini 3 (8.3), and am not seeing the issues you describe around dragging cards to the discard pile. Generally when a card returns to your hand it means you were not over a valid destination for that card. Valid destinations highlight when you start dragging a card, so the discard pile highlights when you start dragging an Aeon card, for example and open creature slots in play highlight when you drag a creature.
