I'm currently playing as black. Finished red. Some of the cards the dating rats and the likes are playing are quite hefty. 5/5 dragons and the like. I wish I had cards like that. Bring on Newgame+ to keep the items. ##
Playing as red, doing quite well after a tentative start. I like how it's actually possible to get yourself completely cornered if you lose enough matches/gold/cards, although I'm sure that will bug some. Once I found enough creatures to fill up my deck with I started doing much better. Before then I was constantly drawing aeon/spell cards and quickly finding myself overloaded with enemy creatures. Love that aspect of the game- deciding whether to counter the opposition's creatures, or put yours in blank spaces and go for their health. I usually find with these sorts of games that slowly adding one or two cards to your set is almost always the way to go, rather than going with a total overhaul. Anyway, glad I got into this, and I love that there are some kind of stakes for not doing well. Never played Magic: The Gathering, but I'm sure this is up there with it. The artwork is terrific, the potential for gameplay variety vast, and it's just fun to play. Thanks for constantly bumping this thread and tipping me onto this, guys! Ridiculous it hasn't gotten a review here yet. I find if you PM every TA reviewer, even if the game came out a couple of months ago, one of them will often bite and do a write-up for you.
Glad you are enjoying the game! I plan for the next update after 1.0.6 to include more content for the end-game.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the game, and yeah, I love the artwork - the artists did an amazing job. I'm hoping the game does well enough I can hire them to do more artwork for an expansion! As for a review on TA - I've sent them a code to review it a couple of times, so hopefully they will consider doing so when they have a chance. I'll just keep updating and hope you guys like it and spread the word!
I've submitted version 1.0.6 for review with Apple. Highlights for 1.0.6: - 5 new cards, bringing the total number of cards to 200 - Two new difficulty levels, casual and tough. - New 4-1 aeon exchange for easier multicolor deck building - New point buyback button added to the Ability Trainer - Balance changes to some player abilities - Other enhancements and bug fixes
Just a quick one: How is XP calculated? Do you get more XP for killing more creatures, or defeating the enemy with the least cards used?
Each enemy is worth a specific XP amount. There is no calculation based on how quickly you defeat them or anything like that. You can gain extra XP if you unlock the Wisdom 20 sub ability "Enlightened" that gives an additional 10% experience for each duel.
Yeah I saw that part. I was just curious if there is a way to Grind out more XP from a battle using specific tactics. Looking forward to the update
Surprised TA hasn't reviewed this yet as it is a premium ccg which in this merit alone is a great idea and game!
Just before I read this, I am updating with the latest version. Burning question: should I restart my game to enjoy all theses?
Let me clarify - if you want to use one of the new difficulty levels, of course you'll have to start a new campaign. The new Avatar cards are available from certain enemies, if you are far enough along to have already defeated those enemies, you won't have a chance to get them. The 4:1 trade is available immediately.
Got a question: Do enemies give more XP on higher difficulties? Or same XP for everyone? Or what do you get from a higher difficulty other than a tougher AI?
You get the same XP regardless of difficulty level. What do you get on higher difficulty level? Tougher enemies and increased risk of losing more gold and/or cards. I'm not against further tweaks down the line, but giving extra XP or gold/cards would make it less difficult so I didn't think that made sense. I'll definitely give it some more thought, though.
Maybe just reward with unplayable collectors cards and a gallery unlock? A reason and a reward for those who want to push the boundaries!
Interesting ideas. It might be fun to unlock additional portraits, or perhaps enemy portraits for use as your own.
How about unlocking overlays to put over a photo of your own face.....you could use the card in game and have a 'share on Instagram' button for uploading your pimped selfies..... ....too far?..... ...too far. Seriously though - how about something like a card creation tool - have it as an unlock for beating hard mode? You could create one 'ultimate' card that can then be taken in to your normal deck and used in game....or perhaps a whole deck of your own? 'Blank'cards could have a maximum number of points attributable to them and each characteristic/skill you add could require a set number of points, with the total selection not exceeding the card limit - similar to character creation tools you see on some RPG's. Hopefully, having a maximum limit would avoid, or at least reduce, the chance of cards being overpowered. I guess balancing would ultimately come down to the player in that scenario. It might all be too tricky to implement or may lead to massive imbalances though, it would obviously require more thought.....hey, there's no such thing as a stupid suggestion....I'm just trying to help lube the wheels of imagination! Also, any plans for asynchronous multiplayer? It's crying out for it - you could have preset decks to use online or specify each player has to play with exactly the same deck? Again, just food for thought.
@ZS77 - I definitely have considered some of these things, including custom card creation, which could be really fun. I don't have plans to support multiplayer anytime soon, though. Lots of great ideas!
