I think in total I've probably seen about 10 minutes of it, mostly advertisments. Anyway I wanted something to watch and I prefer to buy TV series on DVD because you get more hours per £ than you do with movies. I saw the LOST seasons 1-5 box set at 50% off so I figured I'd give it a try. Usually I'm not too fond of American action/drama programmes, even Heroes seemed a little banal to me, which is odd because I hadn't actually seen anything like it before. The stories seem desperately stretched since US shows usually contain around 24 episodes per season while UK shows have always stuck to 6, and only having 6 episodes means absolutely no bull, no filler. I guess the occasional awkwardly dull section is the price you pay for a longer experience. Why the hell am I ranting? I'm just bored. Anyway! I'm gonna start watching it later tonight, it'd better be good 'cause that's half my paycheck gone. I'm also considering buying 24 after the last season is over and they release a complete box set. I've heard it's full of ridiculously cliche scenes and plotholes, but also a giant helping of action and twists... should even itself out, no?
I really liked the first season of Lost. I felt it went downhill after that but that is just my opinion. 24 was great for several season but it just becomes the same thing over and over again. In the USA 24 usually goes on sale (all seasons) for $15-$20 each, that is what I paid.
Yeah I can get 24 reasonably cheap here, but I really hate the DVD cases... nothing but crappy cardboard, I prefer the slim plastic cases you get with the US DVDs. If they don't give us some decent packaging for the complete set I'll be importing.
Heroes was crap anyways. Never watched it after the second season. People say it improved after that but the damage was already done. LOST on the other hand is THE best show IMO. I dont agree that it went downhill after the first season. It got more and more interesting with every season for me. To each his own though. But it definitely wont be a waste of your time and money for sure
I'm gonna try and approach it with an open mind. I guess what usually gets me is that sometimes it's all too obvious when twists and plot points are written into a show even though the writers themselves don't know how it's going to end. When it comes down to tying everything together it gets a bit messy and desperate as they try to piece together a bunch of totally random and unrelated incidents into one single conclusion. I'd prefer them to work backwards, think of an awesome ending then tie in a bunch of twists that actually relate directly to it. That said, I'm just gonna chill and take it all in.
Please for the love of God do not buy 24, one of the worst TV series ever & I can't wait for it to die.
L O S T seasons 1-2 were simply amazing. after that it kinda jumped the shark a bit..plunged into wtf land. catch up before season 6 finale! My friend watched the first 5 seasons in 11 days
LOL seasons 1-5 (and the aired episodes of 6) are on Hulu for free . But LOST is great, definitely worth buying the set anyways.
I haven't watched every episode, but thought seasons 1-2 were good, 3 started getting a bit too random for my tastes and I gave up there. Whatever you do - don't read anything on the show, it's best if you just watch it.
We get Spotify There are a bunch of video streaming sites around, I just prefer to own stuff. Plus my connection speed is lame.
As someone who used to collect SNES games (and line them all up nicely on my shelf), I very much understand what you mean.
