Valentine at lv 31 can 3 star this scenario. you rush to capture all buildings except the leftmost 2. let posse, Valentine, cannon, chuck wagon and gunslinger handle the bottom left 2 ghoul and necromancer. send everyone thru the hole you blasted using engineer also keep engineer at full health as you need him to first hit the tank, ghouls, etc.
@MikaMobile Absolutely loving this game - it's the best turn-based strategy I've played in a long, long time. Well done. I don't know if you're taking suggestions but I could really do with some more info on the stats for the stars. ie Show the current number of casualties/rounds Less than 3 casualties (1) Less than 15 rounds (12) Handy when coming back to the game mid-mission. It would also be helpful to have a save-state that could be used when you get in a good position in a mission but loaded again if you mess up. Thanks.
Finally beat the game for the first time! # Really enjoyed myself with this game, thanks MikaMobile #
Stuck on Chapter 17 I'm currently stuck on Chapter 17 and I get completely overwhelmed before Turn 10. It doesn't seem like it's possible to take a building to hire more units before they crush you and you don't have enough to win without recruiting more. Any thoughts on how to get past it? I have Wyatt at level 40 now (thanks to leveling up on my many, many failures). I've also tried hanging back but the neutral faction never makes it past Turn 4 no matter what--I'm not even sure why they bother showing up other than to introduce that they exist.
I tried once. Hung back trying to hold the two bridges with my artillery. Got overwhelmed eventually. I'm going to try bumrushing the settlement to the east (takes a while for the forces from the north to come down) and grabbing the buildings over there next time I take a crack at it. Alternatively you could try moving everyone north but it seems to open to me.
I 3 starred this Mission. you really have to defend at the start without losing any units until all the enemy units that are rushing you starts to get less. then bait the remaining defending troops at the right base to Attack you. this tactic can get 2 stars easy. Place your Gatling gun strategically so that he takes out the Zeppelin in one shot
Amount of enemies coming at you in 17 mission is a bit much. I dont mind challenge in games but this isnt even fun anymore. And people say mobile gaming is for casuals lol
Well that's easy, isn't it? The whole point is that it's not possible to keep all your units alive with Wyatt.
Actually it's possible. I make sure before I end turn, only 1 enemy can hit a full health unit/tank at all times. if not I'll kill the app and retry that turn. I also try to Ensure that all enemy troops are dying or dead within my reach, unless I setup strong Defence to protect my dps units. Also it helps a lot of your Wilcox is level 34. with lots of cannons for almost everything, Gatling gun for anti air, and Slayer for undead(optional). Gyrocopter for that very far necromancer which can combo kill your troops
Now level 17 is pissing me off! I'm pretty good at this game. Well, maybe not but at least I've got a good chunk of experience. I've played for at least 5 hours if not 7 or 8. I really think the margin for error is far to slight. It takes the fun out of it for me. Give me some sort of boost I can only use once a level or a hero that has short term powers with cool downs or something. I really feel like a chance to pull your ass out of the fire would make the game more fun. Most of the later levels are tedious slogs through attempts at different strats and checking enemy attack ranges over and over. Not fun!
I'm up to round 13 now! Using Wyatt and it's pretty tough, but I managed to do the canyon level with some tips from here
Amazing Tbs, one of the best that makes use of actual strategising (instead of most units = win) to come along in a long time. Reading through the comments, there's one thing that most commonly agree on - the difficulty. I also completely agree that the difficulty is tightened a few notches high. When you do complete a tough level the satisfaction is immense. But sometimes when you retry and retry a level, it stops being fun and borders on frustrating, which is something most gamers don't want to feel. It's something that could easily be remedied with two or three levels of difficulty to choose from, with enemies on the hardest having more health than the last. I just think it'd open the game up for everybody. It already has crazy replay value and another difficulty to work through would only add to it, and hey, after working through on easy you'd probably be more prepared to tackle the current challenge. Either way, still an amazing game, just one that falls into a smaller niche than I first thought. It's definitely not entry level tbs that's for sure.
It definitely needs a different save system so you can reload if something goes wrong towards the end of a mission to prevent you having to retrace your steps.
I definitely agree this game is quite challenging, but it is doable. I think for me it boils down to playstyle. In terms of strategy games, i come from the old RTS background were things like turtling, rushing, or racing up the tech tree are valid strategies. Thats not the case with a game like this. Its more about making perfect moves, thinking ahead, playing slowly. There are a TON of spots on the story mode where i feel like im just plugging up choke points and letting the enemy slowly whittle themselves down while they smash into my forces. There is nothing wrong with this, but its not the way i would typically play. All this is absurdly nit-picky to me though - this game is awesome. I have other go to games that i play daily that have been left in the dust due to it so thats saying something. Also, I would really be interested in hearing peoples thoughts on the different legends. Having a brief write up for each would be nice for those deciding on which ones to focus on for the story and challenge modes. Here are a couple i have focused on and my thoughts after leveling them all the way up: John McGraw - a well-rounded starter hero. He grows well with your core army and typically lends to a more 'swarmy' playstyle since he makes core units like gunslingers and cavalry cheap. At level 40, he makes your front line quite strong. Not always the best choice for making 3 star wins however as his abilities boosts cheaper units so having cheaper units typically means more casualties. Nadia Romanov - my favorite legend so far. She's a bit slow at first as the army she focuses on hits later in the game and are generally more expensive. However, once she is leveled she becomes a powerhouse by herself and gives you a ton of breathing room in both story and challenge mode. She can sometimes single handily win game once she is past level 34 and the night/day difference becomes less of a deterrent for attacking. The main problem with her is that she can only attack humans. This isnt a big deal versus some legends and the earlier campaign levels, but once tanks, airplanes, and undead are introduced, you have to be a bit picky with targets. Nonetheless, she still thins out the enemy nicely and limits there options making it easier for you to counter the units they have left. I have also started using Wilcox, but only leveled him up to 17. My gut is that hes quite strong in the late game. Nice for kiting and makes cannons really strong.
One thing i hate about my allies is when they trigger the enemy groups that are beyond them causing me to get overwhelmed.
I completely agree with this. I love this game but I've been playing it less and less as the levels take longer and longer and longer with often slim chances of winning. At first I wanted to 3 star all levels before moving on and realized I could only 1 star levels after 5 levels in. This is all coming from an RPG/Strategy game lover. I've played Fire Emblems, Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc. and I can almost dare say that this game could possibly be harder than any of those. And those games are generally agreed upon as hard. I definitely would like difficulty levels for this game so I can play it more at my pace. Also the level up bonuses are weird and don't flow, probably my second biggest problem with the game. The rifleman hero for one, doesn't get rifleman perks or boosts that you receive for rifleman units AND you keep unlocking stuff at the beginning of the game for units you would not have unlocked at that point, which generally shouldn't happen in games like these. Level up bonuses are usually a progression to gradually help you progress. Not give you things that you won't be able to use until way later in the game (which make that level up useless). I unlocked gattling gun bonuses after beating area 3 or 4... Definitely needs tweaking on both points I mentioned.
Unfortunately, this game lost me too.. It's just too tough.. If I devoted all my free time to playing this single game, I could - maybe - feel accomplished at this.. But, I don't have that level of interest, and therefore had to move on from it.. Needs an easy mode.. Oh, and for every person that snickers at the idea of an 'easy mode', maybe devs included, there will be tenfold using the future.
