Can it maybe be moved to the bottom of the screen - this is the only thing that makes this a two handed game for me #

Whoohoo! Just 3 starred level 16 with McGraw #

I sent the mechanic upward to blow a hole in the wall on my very first turn. Then I sent my two Calvary up to capture buildings but do so after 'snake oiling' one.

2nd group consisting of McGraw with a rifleman behind and a posse with the canon 2 behind to handle the ghouls and necromancers.
Once the ghouls are killed, push everyone but McGraw up to crowd the mouth of the hole you blasted. Keep blowing the mountain to the right of the original hole and send troops that way.

I also let them hit other buildings 3 times, I sneak in on the 4th strike to claim the building.

PS the canon must have clear ground as it cannot move well over the ground where you've blown up the mountain.

Manage your team by rotating them through until you've cleared everyone out, I didn't lose a single unit!
PS, buy more posses as soon as you make the money.

    Hope that helps #

If I understand correctly, all legends become available once you beat the game with one of the original three.

    I could be wrong though.

I'm disappointed my legends don't get the class bonuses because usually in these types of games all the characters that share the same class get the bonuses.

For instance the rifleman legend can't shoot point blank (with the level bonus) but his riflemen troops can?? What? He also probably is getting separate damage boosts as well even though he's a rifleman just like the others. Heck his sprite is the same just different colored. I wish this would get changed because it felt misleading to me.

Yep, that's true. Nadia is awesome early on, got 3 stars on the first 13 missions with her so far.

She's pretty good indeed, I got 3 stars on the first 10 missions but I’m struggling on lvl 11. The 3 gyrocopters in the beginning of the level are pretty hard to deal with, what was your strategy in this level (if you can remember it) ?

First take the saloon, then have the humans retreat west to wait and deal with the gyro copters while Nadia takes the enemies coming from the south. Use Nadia throughout to wipe out the humans. Once you have the steam works make 4 gyrocopters. Save all your money for these, with the exception of recruiting an early doctor. Assault the final group of tanks, cannons, and copters with your 4 copters, having human troops stay back, only taking safe attacks on stuff that breaks through the formation.

Still can't do 16 with the healer as my hero. I'm getting close to permanently ragequitting the game :(

I've tried blasting a whole through the mountain and fighting on two fronts, hanging back and taking on the ones down the bottom and then the ones at the top both in the town and right near where you start. I can take out all the guys at the bottom but by the time I get around to the guys at the top they've got a couple of tanks and zeppelins. I get slaughtered. No idea what to do!

Just beat this one as Doc Valentine at level 24... simply put, it's ridiculous. The difficulty is such that I don't really know if any other strategy would have had any chance of working. It feels like it could use tuning, because TBH at least as Valentine, the moment more than one of your living units dies to a necromancer and turns into a ghoul, you're totally screwed.

I did pretty much the same thing as you. At the start, blow a hole in the pass to the town. Use the snake oil dealer to boost a cavalry to one of the nearby buildings to get a head-start. From here I start ushering everyone through the pass, leaving the posse to plug it up and using the engineer to capture buildings as well, but keeping him in range of the cannon in case a necromancer hits it. I sent the chuck wagon east around the plateau instead of trying to put it through the pass. Seriously. You cannot fit the cannon and the wagon through the rubble in the pass before the southern necros get to you, so send the wagon the long way around instead.

Wrap the wagon around, and put it above the posse so he has some healing. It should make it there before the posse gets attacked. At this point I situated the cannon so it could guard both the pass and the enemies approaching from the west.

At this point I had a gunslinger and cavalry cleaning up the last couple buildings on the east side. It now becomes a game of making sure no more than 1 necromancer + any other unit has range of one of your living units at a time. If the opponent gets the chance, they'll kill them to raise a ghoul. Also, at some point my posse in the south pass died and I had to use the chuck wagon to plug it. I eventually had to buy a second chuck wagon to replace the first. Other than that, don't spend any money. As soon as you have 1k, buy a gyrocopter and plug the western pass. Only use your gyros to attack necromancers since anyone else will counterattack. The nice thing is that if the necros take down any of your gyros (they will), they at least don't come back as ghouls. Oh, and don't attack the ghoul trios on your turn. Since ghouls have full attack power no matter what their health is, this will usually get your units killed on the next turn. It's better the let the enemy's ghouls stay alive and waste space rather than actively trying to kill them, since it keeps the necros further out.

I kind of just... defended with gyrocopters at that point. Once you have more than one active at a time, make sure you clean up the necromancers. Once they're down the rest is easy. I didn't even bother to replace my engineer after he died - I just bought more gyrocopters.

Very clear explanation! Thanks! I'll give your strategy a try tonight and hopefully I can put this level behind me.

I played defense and funneled the enemy in single file from the west. With good healing you'll eventually whittle down the onslaught. It helps that I was in the high 20s when I faced this one. Planes are indeed great defense, even biplanes can survive a beating and plug the path. And don't forget the mighty chuck wagon!

Sounds like a good plan. Except when I tried I couldn't get stuff taken over (and also didn't have enough time to buy anything more than a grunt) quickly enough and had to deal with two fronts (east and west).

I think some stages do need a rebalancing.
On my first play-through as Wilcox, some of the middle stages are way harder than some of the end game stages.
I "3 star"ed Scenarios 21-24 whereas I can barely make it out alive in Scenario 11.
It felt as though those stages are rushed out to market just to give a finale to the story.

This is what I did (but not as Valentine)
    see screenshots 1 and 2.
You should be able to capture 2 buildings before the enemies reach you with snake oil on both turns (1 and 2).
Send the Cannon rifleman, Posse, Chuck Wagon to be as close to the ghoul horde without getting hit on the 1st turn.
You should be able to take out the ghoul horde with chuck wagon as the tank.

Send the engineer to blast the walls until screen 2.
You might want to strategically blast the hole which open up to the leftmost building (so u can capture it at the last minute when the enemies hit it until 50-75%.

The problem with Valentine's run is there is no "sniper unit" to snipe out the necromancers.
I will try to level up my Valentine and see if i can get though this chapter too.

Thanks for going to all that effort! Tulki's strategy got me very close to getting a solid foothold and starting up production of some stronger units. I actually managed to get a gatling gun out. Still lost in the end, though. the enemy only had a couple of cavalry, a doctor and something else left when they finally got me. Problem is that I tried again after that and my cannon went down quite early. It's just too hard (and incredibly frustrating) to go through 15-20 rounds without making a mistake. Not my idea of fun or good difficulty balancing. I wonder if a first level sniper hero will make the difference?

before you end turn, if you feel u made a wrong placement u can kill the app and enter again. it auto saved at the beginning of the round, so you can Re-position :)
also my hero was already at lv 34. with move n snipe capability. so Wilcox is really a good 1st play through character. when he hits 40. your cannons are OP
